Google announced a strategic partnership with eyewear brand Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to develop AI-powered smart glasses running on the new Android XR platform. This collaboration aims to compete directly with Meta’s Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses.
The upcoming smart glasses will integrate Google’s Gemini AI, offering features such as real-time language translation, navigation assistance, messaging, and contextual information overlays via an optional in-lens display. Equipped with a camera, microphone, and speakers, the glasses are designed for hands-free interaction.
By partnering with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster, Google emphasizes the importance of design and branding in wearable technology. The smart glasses will be available in both prescription and non-prescription options, catering to a wide range of users seeking both functionality and fashion.
The first line of these intelligent glasses is expected to launch after 2025. With the integration of Android XR and Gemini AI, Google and Warby Parker aim to deliver a product in the future that will merge the tech of the headsets like Project Moohan or Vision Pro to the size of typical reading glasses.
