Funcom has officially launched Dune: Awakening, a multiplayer survival game set on the harsh desert planet of Arrakis. It is now available on Steam, and it is the biggest and most exciting Dune game ever made.
Dune: Awakening players get to experience deadly sandstorms, sandworms, and navigate a shared world inspired by Frank Herbert’s classic universe and the award-winning Dune films. Players can craft weapons, armor, and vehicles, join factions like the Atreides or Harkonnen. You can also engage in activities that impact the game world.
Following a five-day early access for Deluxe and Ultimate Edition buyers, the game saw a peak of 117,087 concurrent players and currently holds an 89% user rating on Steam. Dune: Awakening follows a buy once, own it model, with no subscription fees or microtransactions. Optional DLCs are available, including the Season Pass which features the Wildlife of Arrakis pack and future content scheduled through 2026.
Coming Soon to Consoles
While Dune: Awakening is out now for PC via Steam, Funcom has confirmed that PlayStation and Xbox releases are planned for 2026. Players can expect ongoing free updates alongside paid DLC to expand the game further.
