How to Activate and Use GCash Tap to Pay on Android

GCash has rolled out Tap to Pay, a contactless payment feature for NFC-enabled Android smartphones and we’re already trying it out in Canada. This new service lets users pay at participating Mastercard and partner terminals by simply tapping their phone, offering a faster and more convenient alternative to QR codes and cash transactions.

GCash Tap to Pay

GCash Tap to Pay allows in-store payments by holding your phone near an NFC-enabled point-of-sale terminals. Once processed, users receive a confirmation notification through the GCash app. This is similar to how Google Wallet, Apple Pay and Samsung Pay works in other countries that supports it.

Before activating the feature, users must meet the following criteria:

  • Android device with NFC (iOS and Huawei devices are not yet supported)
  • Fully Verified GCash account (currently available to select users)
  • NFC enabled in device settings

How to Activate GCash Tap to Pay

  1. Open the GCash app and tap View All Services.
  2. Select Tap to Pay.
  3. Review and accept the Terms and Conditions.
  4. A confirmation page will appear once the feature is activated.

How to Use GCash Tap to Pay

  1. Open the GCash app
  2. Hold your phone close to an NFC-enabled Mastercard or partner terminal.
  3. Wait for the beep or green light confirming payment.
  4. Check the in-app confirmation and push notification for transaction details.
