When it comes to smartphone cameras, most of the people are relying on Samsung and iPhones because both smartphones were leading when it comes to photography. But a few years ago, Huawei introduced the P series smartphones and it was one of the best back then. Today, the P20 series is leading the DxO mark with the Huawei P20 Pro featuring a triple lens camera.

For starters both the Samsung Galaxy S9+ and the iPhone 8 Plus features a dual lens camera comprising of telephoto lens which enables both smartphones to do optical zooming however the Samsung Galaxy S9+ features a dual aperture mode that can adjust depending on the situation while the Huawei P20 Pro features a triple rear lens camera setup which is a first in smartphones.

The Huawei P20 Pro’s triple lens camera is comprised of a monochrome lens, 40-megapixel lens, and a telephoto lens which enables the smartphone to have the best photos.

If you’re following me on my social media accounts, I’ve been really praising the camera prowess of the Huawei P20 Pro because it was really damn good. Check out the camera comparison of the three smartphones below.

Photo 1 – Flower

Again, the Samsung Galaxy S9+ and the Huawei P20 Pro are superior compared to the iPhone 8 Plus and as you can see, the sharpness and blurring or the bokeh of the Huawei P20 Pro are better compared to the Samsung Galaxy S9+.

Photo 2 – Dog

All of the shots were good and sharp, however, the Huawei P20 Pro still took advantage of the Master AI which gave the photo a sharper image on the dog despite the dog being too active and having movements. The photo was warmer however it was really sharp and has less blur.

Photo 3 – Car

The Huawei P20 Pro and the iPhone 8 Plus shines on this photo however, you can clearly see that the Huawei P20 Pro shows better colors, sharper image, and better details even with the reflection of the car.

Photo 4 – 10x zooming

Better details. Sharper image. We all know that the Huawei P20 Pro wins this round.

Photo 5 – House

The iPhone 8 Plus produced a cooler image while the Samsung Galaxy S9+ and the Huawei P20 Pro focused more on the house and its details. However, the Huawei P20 Pro wins when it comes to sharper details.

Photo 6 – Macro

The iPhone 8 Plus and the Huawei P20 Pro got the accurate colors while the Samsung Galaxy S9+ is paler compared to the two. The Huawei P20 Pro wins again in this round because of the details and the accuracy of the bokeh

Photo 7 – Portrait mode

It’s a clear winner here for the Huawei P20 Pro as you can see from the bokeh, colors, details, sharpness….ugh. Well, everything. Huawei P20 Pro really is a great camera smartphone for portrait mode.

Photo 8 – Another night shot

iPhone 8 Plus

While all of them performed better than I expected, it’s the Huawei P20 Pro that really shines in this comparison. It has a better exposure, the colors were good, and the lights look more natural compared to the two.

Well, it’s not surprising that the Huawei P20 Pro wins in ALL of the photo comparisons. Why? Because the smartphone’s camera tech is really ahead of the competition. The night mode of the smartphone is also a game changer and is really sharp even at low light. The Huawei P20 Pro has really exceeded my expectations in terms of camera.
