The Geely Xingyao 6 EF is engineered as a tri-fuel hybrid sedan capable of running on methanol, gasoline, or pure electricity. Drivers can mix methanol and gasoline in any proportion directly inside the same fuel tank.
An onboard methanol concentration sensor monitors the fuel blend in real time via subtle electrical current changes. The engine control unit instantly recalculates injection and ignition timing to guarantee seamless operation regardless of the mixture ratio.
Record 48.15% Thermal Efficiency and Extreme Cold Weather Starts
Under the hood, Geely dedicated methanol hybrid engine reaches an exceptional 48.15% thermal efficiency, setting a global benchmark for mass-produced alcohol engines. The powertrain pairs a 350-bar direct-injection system with a high-energy ignition setup.
This design allows the sedan to start reliably in severe cold climates down to minus 40 degrees Celsius which is perfect for the Canadian market. The cold-start capability directly overcomes the heavy winter driving range degradation that standard battery electric vehicles face.
Electric Range and Extended 1,880 Kilometer Hybrid Driving
Under CLTC test cycles, the sedan delivers 230 kilometers of pure electric driving for zero-emission city commuting. When running on a full tank of methanol and a charged battery, the vehicle achieves a combined range of roughly 1,250 kilometers.
