One of the greatest smartphone engineering feats right now is the HUAWEI Mate XT Ultimate thanks to its tri-fold design that transforms the HUAWEI Mate XT Ultimate from a smartphone to a large tablet. And now, it has been confirmed that the tri-fold smartphone will make its way outside of China this 2025.
The smartphone comes with a 10-inch folding screen with a 6.4-inch display when folded and 7.9″ when using the dual-pane display. The smartphone’s display is an LTPO OLED with a 90Hz refresh rate and 16:11 aspect ratio. There’s also a front-facing camera on the smartphone at 8MP.
Despite having a large display, the HUAWEI Mate XT Ultimate is still slim at 12.8mm and at 3.6mm when unfolded. This makes the smartphone an amazing piece of hardware due to this and despite the thinness, the smartphone still features a 5600mAh battery and 66W Wired Charging speeds. The processor is an in-house Kirin 9010 chipset along with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage.
However, the HUAWEI Mate XT Ultimate is priced at CNY 19,999 or CA$3,843 or PHP 157,830 which is quite pricey. It is expected to be available outside China next year.
The HUAWEI MatePad Pro 12.2 is the newest tablet to be announced by HUAWEI and it comes with a Dual OLED PaperMatte display with a 2000 nits of brightness and of course, with an anti-glare technology. Aside from that, the tablet also supports the HUAWEI Glide keyboard which comes with a touchpad, a charging port, and also a slot for the stylus similar to the one on the Microsoft Surface keyboards.
The HUAWEI MatePad Pro 12.2 also offers a PC-level experience with its apps just like the HUAWEI MatePad Pro 13.2 that we’ve reviewed before. It will come with HUAWEI Notes, a PC-LEvel WPS Office apps and also GoPaint. These apps will work perfectly for scribbling and also for typing thanks to its PaperMatte display.
For the hardware, the tablet is expected to come with 12GB of RAM, up to 512GB of internal storage, and also a 12.2 inch tandem OLED PaperMatte Display with 2000 nits of brightness. While for the operating system, the tablet is expected to come with HarmonyOS 4.2 inside.

We also love the always-on display option, but to be honest, we turned it off to save battery. The raise-to-wake feature works flawlessly, so we didn’t feel like we were missing out by keeping it off.
Customization-wise, HUAWEI did an excellent job. There are 14 watch faces pre-installed, but we can dive into their library of thousands faces to find one that fits our mood or outfit. There’s also a label showing each of its power level, allowing us to choose depending on how much we want to save battery. Personally, we enjoyed switching between a cute panda that tracks our emotional well-being and something more formal when we needed to look sharp.
HUAWEI Watch GT 5 Review: Fitness Features and Health Monitoring
If you care about fitness or simply like keeping tabs on your health, this watch has a lot to offer. It has a variety of sports modes that cater to everything from running and cycling to swimming and hiking. We’ve tested it while running, and the data it provides—pace, heart rate, etc.—feels pretty accurate. We wouldn’t say it’s better than a dedicated sports watch, but it’s definitely close.
What really impressed us, though, is the Emotional Wellbeing feature. It tracks our heart rate and other metrics to gauge whether we are feeling happy (pleasant), neutral, or stressed out (unpleasant). It then suggests tools like breathing exercises to calm down, which was surprisingly helpful during stressful workdays. The sleep monitoring is another big plus, and it’s quite thorough, even giving us a heads-up about potential sleep apnea.
However, it’s worth mentioning that the health features aren’t a substitute for professional medical devices. They’re great for everyday monitoring, but we wouldn’t rely solely on it for serious health issues.

Now, onto battery life. For a watch packed with so many features, we were surprised that the battery lasted as long as it did. With regular use, we were getting more than 7 days out of a single charge, which is honestly impressive. This included using the fitness tracking, notifications, and checking in on health metrics, though we did keep the always-on display off.
However, if we really push it with workouts, notifications, and the always-on display, we might need to charge it sooner, probably every 3-5 days.
HUAWEI Watch GT 5 Review: Connectivity
The connectivity experience was mostly smooth, but there was a bit of a hiccup when pairing it with an iPhone with iOS 18. Though, this issue seems to be more related to iOS 18 itself being a fresh update, so we wouldn’t call it a dealbreaker, just something to be aware of as of the moment if you’re an iPhone user.
Meanwhile, with Android phones, the connection was flawless.

On the plus side, once it was connected, the instant notifications for calls and messages were super handy. We don’t have to keep checking our phone because everything we need pops up right on our wrist. It’s perfect if you’re always on the go, whether in the gym or at a meeting.

For those in the Philippines or other regions where GCash is popular, this is a game-changer. We’re expecting to see this feature roll out by the end of 2024, and it’s definitely something to look forward to.
