ASUS Republic of Gamers unveiled the ROG Falcata at Computex 2025 — a 75% split gaming keyboard designed for serious gamers and esports pros. Built for precision, speed, and comfort, the Falcata offers a new level of customization that competitive players will appreciate.
The split design of the ROG Falcata allows for a more ergonomic setup, freeing up space for wider mouse movement. It uses ROG HFX V2 Magnetic Switches with adjustable actuation from 0.1 to 3.5mm, fine-tuned at 0.01mm intervals, and rated for 100 million keypresses.
With a 8000Hz polling rate, ROG SpeedNova 8K wireless, and up to 610 hours of battery life, the Falcata is built for low-latency gaming. It also features a multifunction wheel, Rapid Trigger toggle, and tri-mode connectivity — Bluetooth, 2.4GHz wireless, and USB.
The keyboard includes four-layer dampening for a smoother typing feel and detachable wrist rests for added comfort. It’s a part of the ROG Ace collection, developed in collaboration with esports champions to deliver top-tier performance.
Not every laptop upgrade needs to be flashy. Some just need to work, consistently and well. That’s exactly what the ASUS Vivobook 16 (X1607) sets out to do. It blends a clean, professional look with enough modern power to handle productivity, creativity, and even light gaming. Armed with an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor, 16GB of RAM, and a roomy 1TB SSD, this laptop isn’t here to show off—it’s here to get things done.
But how does it perform when we actually use it day to day? We took it for a spin in real-world scenarios and here’s how it fared.
ASUS Vivobook 16 (X1607) Review: Design
The Vivobook 16 gives off a premium vibe right from the start. Its matte gray aluminum lid and clean lines make it look far more expensive than it is. It’s the kind of laptop that fits in whether you’re in a meeting room or a coffee shop.
The ErgoSense keyboard was a real highlight in our experience. It’s quiet, tactile, and comes with a full numpad, which is a huge plus for number-heavy tasks or Excel users. You’ll also appreciate the large, smooth touchpad that supports intuitive gestures. Typing for hours felt comfortable, and for anyone who writes, codes, or edits documents all day—this keyboard will make you want to keep going.
One thing to keep in mind is that it’s not exactly lightweight. At 1.8 kg, this machine leans toward the bulkier side. It definitely takes up noticeable space in a backpack, and carrying it around all day might be a dealbreaker if portability is a top priority.
ASUS Vivobook 16 (X1607) Review: Connectivity
It’s packed with everything you’d need for a hybrid setup or a full desk workstation: two USB-A ports, two USB-C ports with charging and display support, an HDMI 2.1 port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Whether you’re connecting an extra monitor, a mouse, a keyboard, or a hard drive, you’re covered without needing a dongle.
And with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3, staying connected and streaming large files or syncing devices was seamless in our tests.
ASUS Vivobook 16 (X1607) Review: Display
The 16-inch WUXGA IPS display is a treat for work and play. The 16:10 aspect ratio gives you extra vertical space, which is perfect for reading, editing, and writing without constant scrolling. With decent brightness and anti-glare coating, it holds up well in brightly lit spaces.
Watching videos felt immersive, and the larger screen really does justice to streaming platforms. While the color accuracy might not be pro-grade, casual creators, students, and movie buffs will definitely enjoy what this display has to offer.
ASUS Vivobook 16 (X1607) Review: Performance
Now let’s talk power. The Intel Core Ultra 5 225H paired with 16GB of DDR5 RAM and a fast 1TB SSD delivered a smooth and responsive experience throughout our time with the device. Whether we were jumping between multiple browser tabs, editing large documents, or working on light photo and video editing, the laptop didn’t flinch.
Even when pushed with heavier tasks—like light gaming or exporting media files—it handled the pressure without noticeable stutters or slowdowns.
The fans do kick in under load, but noise levels remained reasonable. Thanks to its updated cooling system, the laptop stayed cool during long work sessions.
Benchmark Scores:
3DMark CPU Profile
3DMark Speed Way
3DMark Steel Nomad Light
3DMark Storage
PCMark 10
VRMark
While this isn’t a laptop for hardcore gamers or those working with heavy 3D rendering, it does a commendable job handling popular titles on moderate settings and managing resource-heavy apps like Adobe Premiere or Photoshop for non-intensive use.
ASUS Vivobook 16 (X1607) Review: Battery Life
Battery life on the Vivobook 16 is decent but not spectacular. With its 42Wh battery, we got around 5–6 hours of mixed-use—email, writing, streaming, and browsing. That’s enough to last you through a half day of work or class, but not a full stretch without plugging in.
Thankfully, charging is quick. Using the 65W USB-C charger, we were able to get back to 60% in under an hour. It’s a nice safety net for those days when you’re moving between meetings or classes and need a quick top-up.
ASUS Vivobook 16 (X1607) Review: Verdict
The ASUS Vivobook 16 (X1607) makes a strong case for itself as a dependable, capable, and stylish midrange laptop. Its large, immersive display, excellent keyboard, and solid everyday performance make it a great option for professionals, students, and even light gamers who don’t need portability as a priority.
If you mostly work from one place—like home, an office, or a fixed desk setup—you’ll appreciate what it brings to the table. Just be ready to sacrifice some portability for that bigger screen and roomier keyboard.
Pros
✅ Premium design with a clean, modern look
✅ Responsive keyboard with numpad
✅ Big, immersive 16:10 display
✅ Strong all-around performance for multitasking
✅ Well-rounded port selection and connectivity
Cons
⛔ On the heavier, bulkier side
⛔ Battery life is just average
⛔ Not built for high-end graphics workload
The ASUS Vivobook 16 (X1607) gets the job done, and then some. It’s reliable, smart-looking, and powerful enough for the kind of daily work most users actually do. If you’re after a bigger screen, better typing experience, and don’t mind a bit of extra weight, this is a worthy upgrade in its price range.
