ASUS Zenbook 13, Zenbook 14, & Zenbook 15 Quick Review

One of our favorite products that we unveiled today at IFA 2018 is the all-new ASUS Zenbook series. Why? Because these notebooks are not just thin but they’re also stylish and damn, it does have a lot of new features that are really cool and should be on their other notebooks? Got you interested huh? Check out our quick review of these notebooks below.

The all-new Zenbook line comes in three different variants – Zenbook 13, Zenbook 14, and the Zenbook 15 but here’s the interesting part – these notebooks come with the thinnest laptop bezels in the market at a 5.9mm thickness at the top, 2.8mm at the sides, and an amazingly 3.3mm below the display.

The ASUS Zenbook 13 UX333 is the thinnest of em’ all is even smaller than the A4 size paper at 303x189mm which means that the notebook can fit on small bags or handbags. While the ASUS Zenbook 14 has dimensions of 319x199mm.

When it comes to build quality, the ASUS Zenbook series was pretty solid as it features the concircular design on the lid witha metal build. It’s a really premium feel when you hold this notebook.

Despite its thin bezels, ASUS was able to put in a webcam not below the display, instead, on the top of the display which is an ideal webcam placement. They’re actually proud that the webcam of the notebook is ultra-thin with a 4-element lens. I’ve seen the notebook and I’m actually pretty amazed that they were able to that on the ASUS Zenbook line.

When it comes to connectivity, it comes with a headphone jack, a USB 2.0 port, USB 3.1 port, USB Type-C, HDMI and a MicroSD card slot. Too bad it’s only MicroSD and not the full SD card slot.

When it comes to performance, these notebook comes with an 8^th Generation Intel Core i7 processor based on Whisky lake. I know, that series of a processor hasn’t been revealed yet and when it comes to graphics side, it comes with a Nvidia MX150 GPU for the Zenbook 13 and 14 while the Zenbook 15 comes with a GTX 1050 Max-Q GPU. T  he storage also up to 1TB PCIe SSD and the battery? ASUS promises 14 hours of battery life on this one.

Despite its small size, the ASUS Zenbook 13 still managed to have a full sized keyboard and typing on all of the keyboard of the Zenbook line, well, they’re pretty good and awesome. I really didn’t have any problems typing on the keyboard of the Zenbook 13. Oh and this feature might be small but it’s really helpful as the function key now locked by default which means that you don’t have to press fn anymore for different functionalities of the notebook.

Here’s probably the biggest feature of the Zenbook line, the touchpad. We have a glass touchpad on the Zenbook 13 and Zenbook 14 and it comes which is really smooth and it also acts as the NumberPad of the notebook.

Yep, despite the lack of the numpad on the notebook, ASUS has managed to put a numpad on the notebook which is helpful not just for productive users but also to gamers. Basically, with a press of a button, the NumberPad of the notebook appears on the touchpad and then you just need to press the buttons on the touchpad then voila, it’s really good.

I think this is a little bit of a gamechanger as you can have a faster typing for keys especially for those people who are always using their excel for numbers. It might not be as good as the screenpad of the ASUS Zenbook Pro but this one is good. Oh, and did I say that you can actually use the touchpad of the notebook despite having a numberpad turned on?. Yep, you can.

So there we go,  the ASUS Zenbook line will arrive in the Philippines soon and I’m actually really looking forward to this one.
