Cherry Mobile Flare X Review

Cherry Mobile Flare X is one of the hottest smartphones this year. When it was announced, everyone was amazed with its price and specifications and It was already considered as one of the hottest smartphones this year. This smartphone is the answer to what most Filipinos want on a smartphone – a big display, big battery, and a powerful hardware.

Design

The Cherry Mobile Flare X shares the same design DNA of the Flare series and you could quickly recognise that it’s a Cherry Mobile smartphone. However, despite having a good hardware, the smartphone is a little bit thick and when you’re holding the smartphone, you’ll immediately feel the body of an ASUS Zenfone 5. Actually, that’s not a bad thing. The Cherry Mobile Flare X might be a little thick but the smartphone feels really solid because of its thick blocky design and once you hold it, you’ll immediately feel that this smartphone won’t easily broke even when you drop it on the floor.

To keep the smartphone affordable and simple, Cherry Mobile used a plastic body but again, this smartphone is very solid but the weight feels just right and it isn’t heavy. Inside the smartphone there’s a 3000mAh battery which is really rare for a local-branded smartphone. Normally, local-branded smartphones pack only an ample amount of juice compared to other smartphones but the Cherry Mobile Flare X is different, they choose to have a big battery with no compromise on the hardware. The battery is also removable so you don’t have to worry about replacing your damaged battery.

The Cherry Mobile Flare X might have an affordable price with a good hardware but it still packs a 16GB of Internal storage expandable via MicroSD. The smartphone also supports USB OTG if you feel that the smartphone’s storage isn’t enough for you.

Regarding the audio quality, the Cherry Mobile Flare X doesn’t really shine just like its smartphone brothers but don’t worry, the smartphone’s audio is still clear and still loud but I felt that it needs more clarity and quality.

One of the advantages of having this smartphone is this smartphone supports LTE. You won’t have any problem regarding cellular networks because the Cherry Mobile Flare X supports all local LTE networks.
Display

One of the main focus of Cherry Mobile in this smartphone is the display. They’ve pack a 5.5-inch Full HD display that performs really good. The colors on the display looks great and it is very responsive. Outside visibility of the display is pretty good too along with its contrasts and sharpness.

Battery

Another main feature of the Cherry Mobile Flare X is the 3000mAh. It isn’t the best battery you can find on a Cherry Mobile smartphone but it’s really nice to this feature on a smartphone that doesn’t mainly focus on the battery.

The Cherry Mobile Flare X lasts for a day at average use and at heavy use, the smartphone was able to last up to more than half a day. Those are pretty good numbers if you ask me.
Software

The software of the Cherry Mobile Flare X is the only thing that I hate. The first thing that I’ve saw on this smartphone is its music widget. There’s a dedicated homescreen for music player that features a turntable which you’ll use for the music player. Unfortunately, you can’t remove that one along with the camera widget that lets you shoot images even on the homescreen.

Despite having an unpleasant music player UI, the smartphone’s launcher is a little bit customizable. You can change the scrolling effect and the settings are arranged accordingly.

Another thing, the Cherry Mobile Flare X still runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat despite boasting a 64-bit processor ready to take on Android 5.0 Lollipop. However, Cherry Mobile had told us that the update to Android 5.0 Lollipop is coming very very soon so don’t get too sad about it.

In case you’re not familiar with the innards of the Cherry Mobile Flare X. This smartphone got a 3GB of RAM and a MediaTek MT 6752 processor. it’s a 64-bit processor and it’s ready for Android 5.0 Lollipop so don’t worry about the next update because I’m pretty sure with Android 5.0 Lollipop, you can get more with its processor.

When it comes to games and heavy applications, the Cherry Mobile Flare X doesn’t disappoint. I’ve played different games on the smartphone such as Asphalt 8 and Toram Online, and I was able to play this smartphone smoothly and without lags. Actually, all of the games that I’ve played on this smartphone ran pretty well. At Antutu, I got a score of 33531. Not bad for a smartphone with this specifications.

Camera

The Cherry Mobile Flare X got a 13-Megapixel camera with a 5-megapixel front camera and it’s not really its biggest feature but it does the job done. At well-lit conditions, the Cherry Mobile Flare X can shoot good shots however I noticed that some of these images lacks color and overexpose. However, most images that I took were really sharp.

It’s not the best camera smartphone that you can see on a local-branded but for its price, the Cherry Mobile Flare X’s camera was okay and acceptable

Verdict

The Cherry Mobile Flare X is a really great smartphone. It might not be the best smartphone available today but with its hardware for its price, you might be wondering why are you buying an expensive smartphone if you can just get the Cherry Mobile Flare X that offers a great display, amazing performance, and a long-lasting battery life.

For P6,999, this is the best smartphone that you can get and this is the smartphone to beat at its price range and yes, I highly recommend this smartphone if your budget is at this price range.

  1. Nakabli ako kahapon. So far wala ako problema sa device. Maayos at mabilis naman. Kaya lang. Medyo naguguluhan ako. Kung isesearch dito sa google ung specs. Ung cpu/processor eh 1.7ghz octacore… Pero ang nabili ko eh 1.3ghz octacore. Ganto rin ba sa inyo,?

    • The old batch of this product used 1.7 Ghz processor with Lollipop android OS but after the update made by the manufacturer of this product they have updated the android OS into Kitkat but downgraded its processor to 1.3 Ghz… I ask the CM sales clerk but did not gave me a convincing answer why CM change the processor of Flare X. Sad story ei? That’s the reason why I changed my mind about this product.
