XREAL AURA Officially Unveiled as the First Wired Glasses Running Android XR

XREAL has officially launched the XREAL AURA at Google Android Developer Summit, introducing the world’s first wired XR glasses powered by Android XR.

Developed in close collaboration with Google and Qualcomm, the wearable combines spatial computing with an optical see-through design for everyday work, entertainment, and gaming.

Under-95g Optical See-Through Design with Split-Compute Puck

Unlike bulky enclosed VR headsets that isolate users from their surroundings, the XREAL AURA uses transparent optical see-through lenses.

This allows wearers to view digital windows overlaid directly into their physical environment while staying present with people nearby.

To keep the headset weight under 95 grams for all-day comfort, the system relies on a split-compute architecture.

Heavy processing hardware and the battery are housed in a separate pocketable compute puck featuring a built-in touch trackpad for intuitive gestures.

Sony Micro-OLED 1200p Displays, 70-Degree FOV, and Bose Audio

Visuals are driven by Sony Micro-OLED display panels delivering a crisp 1200p resolution per eye at a smooth 120Hz refresh rate.

The glasses offer an expansive 70-degree field of view, paired with electrochromic dimming that tints the outer lenses for theater-like immersion on demand.

The displays have earned five TUV Rheinland certifications, including 5-Star Eye Comfort, Low Blue Light, Flicker Free, High Visibility, and Color Accuracy.

Audio is engineered in partnership with Bose, incorporating directional temple speakers that provide rich spatial audio while maintaining natural environmental hearing.

Snapdragon Reality Elite, Android XR Ecosystem, and Gemini AI

Under the hood, the compute puck runs Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon Reality Elite Platform alongside a dedicated XREAL X1S co-processor.

Operating on Android XR, the glasses support natural hand tracking, voice commands, Bluetooth keyboards, and game controllers right out of the box.

Google Gemini is integrated directly into the OS, helping users analyze real-world tasks, summarize documents, and navigate spatial menus contextually.

A library of over 150 made-for-XR apps is available at launch, including NBA Court View, Andy Serkis’s Nevatars, Fallout: Factions, and Google Play apps.

With Wired Mirroring over USB-C, users can also connect laptops, PCs, or handheld consoles like the Steam Deck to project a massive private monitor.

XREAL AURA Pricing, Controller Accessories, and Availability

Alongside the glasses, XREAL introduced dedicated accessories including a custom wireless gaming controller co-engineered with GameSir featuring a dedicated Gemini AI key.

XREAL AURA is available for pre-order starting today in the United States, Canada, Japan, and South Korea, with official shipping scheduled for mid-November 2026.
