Developer Kahris (@chrissotraidis) has achieved bringing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time natively to iOS and iPadOS. Unlike traditional emulators that simulate Nintendo 64 hardware at runtime, this project relies on a full reverse-engineered C decompilation compiled into a native ARM64 application.

Widescreen, Metal Graphics Rendering, and 60FPS Performance

Powered by the popular Ship of Harkinian PC port project, the game renders natively using Apple’s Metal graphics API rather than interpreting N64 ROM code. This unlocks true widescreen rendering, full Retina screen resolution, and smooth 60fps gameplay, bypassing the original N64’s 240p and 20fps caps.The native iOS layer was built using Codex 5.6 Sol and features full Bluetooth controller support alongside touch, keyboard, and mouse controls.Source: Kahris on X (@chrissotraidis)
