Samsung issues global recall of the Galaxy Note 7

0

If you’re planning on buying a Samsung Galaxy Note7 then you better wait as Samsung halts the sale of their best flagship smartphone to date. Samsung has just announced its global recall for the Galaxy Note7 which was reported for exploding while being charged.

So far, there have been 35 cases worldwide that were confirmed by Samsung during their investigation. Samsung has suspended the sales of this smartphone and they’ll be replacing all Galaxy Note7 with a new one in the coming weeks.

Here’s the statement of Samsung Global below:

Samsung is committed to producing the highest quality products and we take every incident report from our valued customers very seriously. In response to recently reported cases of the new Galaxy Note7, we conducted a thorough investigation and found a battery cell issue.

“To date (as of September 1) there have been 35 cases that have been reported globally and we are currently conducting a thorough inspection with our suppliers to identify possible affected batteries in the market. However, because our customers’ safety is an absolute priority at Samsung, we have stopped sales of the Galaxy Note7.

“For customers who already have Galaxy Note7 devices, we will voluntarily replace their current device with a new one over the coming weeks. We will provide further details on the process and timing of replacement as soon as possible.

“We acknowledge the inconvenience this may cause in the market but this is to ensure that Samsung continues to deliver the highest quality products to our customers. We are working closely with our partners to ensure the replacement experience is as convenient and efficient as possible.

Actually, this is a brave move from Samsung. This move proves Samsung is really serious with their products and they are really committed to their customers. Will this cost them millions? Sure, but they sure brought my trust in the brand and if ever I’ll buy a smartphone and I’m really serious about its quality, Samsung would be one on the top of my list.

Acer Swift 7: The World’s thinnest laptop

0

IFA 2016 has already started in Berlin and Acer has just announced the thinnest notebook in the world right now and that is the  Acer Swift 7. This is a Windows 10 laptop and despite its thin 0.39-inch profile, the Acer Swift 7 managed to have a 7th generation Intel Core i5 processor beating HP’s Spectre and the Apple Macbook.

Acer Swift 7 Specs

  • 13.3-inch Full HD IPS display
  • 7th Generation Kaby Lake Intel Core i5 Processor
  • 8GB of RAM
  • 256GB SSD
  • 2x USB-C 3.1 Ports

The Acer Swift 7 is even thinner than the HP Spectre, ASUS Zenbook 3, and the Apple Macbook but this one has a bigger 13.3-inch display. Well, I’m quite interested in this one as the Acer Swift 7 packs a very thin profile and yet, it managed to have an Intel Core i5 processor and 2x USB-C ports, something that others must take note of.

The Acer Swift 7 has an SRP of $999. No word regarding local availability

Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S Spotted, now available for P55,990

0

I’m a big fan of 2-in-1 devices especially the Microsoft Surface Pro series and whenever I see one, I always look at it and take a short hands-on of it and recently, I was surprised that the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S is now available in the Philippines. This is a Windows 10 tablet that packs an Intel Core M3 processor, 4GB of RAM, and a vivid Super AMOLED display. This tablet aims to compete against the iPad Pro and the Surface Pro which are very popular tablets as they can replace laptops because of their processing power.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S Specs

  • 12-inch 2160×1440 Full HD Plus Super AMOLED Display
  • 2.2GHz Intel Core M3 Dual-Core Processor
  • 128GB SSD
  • 4GB RAM
  • 5-megapixel front camera
  • 5-megapixel rear camera
  • LTE
  • WiFi
  • USB 3.1 Type-C
  • Bluetooth
  • NFC
  • GPS + GLONASS
  • 5200mAh Battery
  • Windows 10 Pro

I played with the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S for a while and I’m quite impressed with its design. Why? Because for a Windows 10 PC with a Core M3 processor, this one is very thin and light. The build is solid too but it doesn’t come with a kickstand like the Surface Pro.14152155_10208530224065749_971771634_o

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S relies on the keyboard cover for its stand and there are only a few available angles for the stand. Speaking of the keyboard cover, the keys aren’t isolated which will  be harder and will take some time to get used to and then there’s a small touchpad in the keyboard cover too.

14139512_10208530222545711_741698602_o

Again, the 2-in-1 tablet is really thin and light and it only comes with a single USB Type-C port but thankfully, the Multi-port adapter is already included in the box so you won’t have a problem connecting your tablet to USB Type-A and also to HDMI.

14163573_10208530224185752_1524213886_o

The price of the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S is P55,990 but I guess it’s worth it considering that you get a Super AMOLED display on this one and also a thin and light design. Not only that, the tablet comes with LTE too and a multi-port adapter. This 2-in-1 device is exclusively available in Samsung Experience Stores and other stores.

BPI Clients’ ATM & Online Banking to be cut if client’s info not updated by Sept. 30

0

BPI has just made its clients really angry earlier today by announcing that they should update their information on or before August 31 or else, they’ll be cutting their access to their online banking and ATM for these non-compliant clients. I also called the BPI hotline earlier today to confirm this because I was really furious that BPI only gave us a few days for us to comply with their requirements.

But thankfully, BPI has changed its mind according to an interview by Rappler to BPI communications head Tricia Quiambao. In their phone interview with Rappler, BPI communications head Tricia Quiambao had clarified that the deadline should be the end of September, not August.

Clients should fill out the customer information sheet and FATCA (foreign account tax compliance act) form and then submit it to your branch of account. This move is required by Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Circular 706 which requires clients to update the financial institutions’ customer information records.
