Acer Aspire S5 announced! — the thinnest ultrabook

This January, a lot of new and exciting gadgets will be announced. Just like what I told you before, Vegas will be barraged by Ultrabooks. And here it is, Acer just announced the thinnest ultrabook in the market, the Acer Aspire S5. It is a 13″ ultrabook that is expected to take on the Macbook Air. I think the one powering this device is the latest Ivy Bridge processor from Intel which will be announce soon enough. Surprisingly there is a thunderbolt port in the laptop along with the HDMI and USB Ports.

This CES 2012, Ultrabooks will barrage Vegas. It is expected that the future of laptops will be Ultrabooks and the netbooks will soon be forgotten by the world. But I think that’s not the case in the Philippines because we Filipinos still prefer an affordable laptop oh and sometimes, a small and portable one. Anyway, there are a lot of ultrabooks that were already released like the Acer Aspire S3, Lenovo U300s and many more. We won’t see this ultrabook until CES 2012 but we obviously, we can see that there will be 2 USB 3.0 ports, HDMI and Audio out. I can’t say much about the ultrabook because it isn’t announced yet but it looks awesome, sexy and thin. I hope that they’ll use the latest Ivy Bridge processor for this. Let’s just wait for the CES 2012 friends.

When the Lumia phones were launched, they introduced first the affordable Asha phones. One of those phones is the Nokia Asha 200. It is a very colorful (Yes, it is available on wide range of colors
– including Graphite, Pink, Aqua and Pearl White ) Dual-sim QWERTY phone. This phone is great for people who are looking for a QWERTY phone or dual sim phone that won’t hurt your pocket. It has a preinstalled Nokia communities. That app will connect your twitter and facebook accounts so that you can easily view and post on your social network accounts. This phone has the easy swap feature which allows you to change and remove your sim without turning off the device (Time saver my friends!). This phone can extend its memory by up to 32 gb. Yep, 32 gb. But I doubt that you will buy and used up that 32 gb. Anyway, with those features you can still buy this phone at a very affordable price. The Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus

When it comes to Android, Samsung does not get tired on creating smartphones. We thought that Galaxy W is the successor of the midrange Galaxy Ace. And you know what?, we’re wrong! Because Samsung just announced the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus. Yes, another Android phone in the Galaxy lineup. They manage to bring the same minimalist design but with some upgrades like the 3.65″ display (formerly 3.5″). It’s kinda disappointing because they just use a HVGA(320×480) resolution instead of the WVGA(800×480). C’mon Sammy! We have cellphones who has HD display already!. The processor was also upgraded to 1 ghz from 800 mhz and the recording has been up to WVGA@30fps from QVGA@15fps. This is great for people who want to use Android but with low budget.

When you’re in Manila, one thing that you’ll hate is the cabs. Yes, you can see a lot of taxis roaming around your place but when you tell them on the place where you want to go, most of them will tell you “Ayoko dyan Traffic”, “Kontrata na lang, <amount> na lang”, “uuwi na ako” and many more. Actually there are a gazillion things why you’ll hate them. And thankfully someone created a simple tool that allows passengers to report a taxi driver in the Philippines. This tool is called, Taxikick. No signup or payment needed. Just report the plate number, violation and the taxi name. Taxikick will email your report to LTFRB and MMDA at the end of the day. Pretty easy huh?. I wish they could have an Android or iPhone app soon. It’s very convenient to use an iPhone app/Android app/Windows phone app/<Input any other OS here> app than visiting the website. Oh and data usage is much lesser too!. Nice work Benedict Aluan! Looking for a tablet below the P10,000 mark?. Yeah, I know what tablets you’ve been thinking. Those tablets are cheap, KIRF, resistive touchscreen, etc. etc. But did you know that at P5,800 you can already buy a brand new Android 4.0 tablet?. Yes, for P5,800 you can buy Ainol Novo 7 Paladin tablet. That’s an Ice cream sandwich tablet (It is not a food) not honeycomb. Oh and don’t worry this tablet doesn’t have a crappy processor. It is powered by 1GHz MIPS-based XBurst CPU with a Vivante GC860 GPU clocked at 444MHz. Too bad, the screen resolution is just at 800 x 480 but hey that’s a P5,800 tablet so expect something like that! at least they did not use a resistive touch screen!
