Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, introducing advancements in mobile photography, processing architecture, AI, and hardware design.

The flagship lineup comes with mechanical variable aperture camera, a 2nm A20 Pro processor with vapor chamber cooling, a more compact Dynamic Island, and the largest battery life increase in iPhone history.

Crafted from Grade 5 titanium, both models are available in four finishes including an all-new Burgundy option, with pre-orders beginning September 12 and retail availability launching on September 18.

48MP Fusion Camera with Six-Blade Variable Aperture and Pro Controls

The centerpiece of the iPhone 18 Pro family is a redesigned 48MP Fusion Main camera equipped with a mechanical variable aperture system.

Six precision laser-cut blades smoothly shift aperture sizes to provide optical depth-of-field control and optimal light gathering across varied shooting conditions.

The camera system automatically selects wider apertures for soft background bokeh and low-light scenes, or stops down to keep all subjects tack-sharp across deep group portraits.

For creators seeking manual authority, the Camera app adds new Pro controls offering direct adjustments for four aperture stops, shutter speed, ISO, white balance, and real-time histograms.

Videographers also gain post-capture Cinematic mode adjustments at up to 60 fps, 4K Dolby Vision HDR Time-lapse capture, and upgraded Audio Mix algorithms with independent music and voice isolation.

2nm A20 Pro Chip and Next-Generation Vapor Chamber Cooling

Under the hood, both handsets are powered by the cutting-edge A20 Pro processor manufactured on a 2nm process node.

The chipset houses a 6-core central processing unit featuring two high-performance cores and four efficiency cores, paired with a 6-core graphics processor and a 16-core Neural Engine.

To sustain peak throughput during extended gaming sessions and heavy 4K ProRes workflows, Apple engineered a custom vapor chamber thermal cooling system.

This internal thermal architecture dissipates heat evenly across the titanium chassis, eliminating throttling and delivering the highest sustained performance ever recorded on an iPhone.

The upgraded graphics engine also introduces next-generation hardware-accelerated ray tracing for console-caliber lighting and reflections in mobile titles.

Refined Titanium Design, Smaller Dynamic Island, and Record Battery Life

Apple refined the exterior geometry of both models while expanding active screen real estate.

The iPhone 18 Pro sports a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max expands to an expansive 6.9-inch canvas.

Both displays boast ProMotion 120Hz adaptive refresh rates, Ceramic Shield second-generation front glass, and outdoor peak brightness reaching up to 3,000 nits.

Apple also redesigned the Dynamic Island, reducing its physical footprint to provide users with more uninterrupted screen space while enhancing contextual live alerts.

Efficiency gains from the 2nm silicon paired with higher-density battery cells deliver the largest battery life leap in iPhone history, providing all-day endurance under demanding pro workloads.

iOS 27 with Apple Intelligence and Next-Generation Siri AI

The iPhone 18 Pro models ship with iOS 27, deeply integrating on-device Apple Intelligence with secure server-side Private Cloud Compute.

Siri AI acts as an intelligent personal assistant capable of understanding complex personal context, cross-referencing information across native apps, and executing multi-step requests.

Users can summarize extended email threads, proofread documents in real time, generate custom visual concepts, and automate daily tasks without compromising personal data privacy.

The operating system also optimizes cellular connections through advanced eSIM technology, allowing travelers to manage international data roaming profiles effortlessly.

Pricing, Configurations, and Availability

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are offered in four titanium finishes: Black Titanium, Silver Titanium, Glacier Titanium, and an all-new Burgundy Titanium.

Pricing for the iPhone 18 Pro starts at 999 dollars for the base configuration, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at US$ 1,199 dollars.

Customers can choose from storage tiers spanning 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB capacities, with higher-tier storage options accommodating uncompressed pro video recording.

Pre-orders for both models begin on Saturday, September 12, with official retail shipments and in-store availability starting Friday, September 18.
