Apple is reportedly preparing to enter mobile gaming hardware with dedicated controllers designed for iPhone users.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple has spent over a year developing gaming controller hardware, but the company may launch the accessories under its Beats brand rather than direct Apple branding.

The move would mark a push by Apple into dedicated console-style gaming peripherals as mobile gaming workloads continue to expand across iOS devices.
Two Controller Models Codenamed T6502 and T1057 Discovered in Code
Rumors regarding first-party Apple gaming accessories gained traction after developer inspection of macOS code references earlier this month.
The software strings highlighted two distinct hardware models codenamed T6502 and T1057, detailing physical components such as dual analog thumbsticks, a directional pad, and shoulder trigger buttons.
Product conception and engineering for both controller units are being spearheaded directly by Beats leadership rather than Apple’s core industrial design teams.
While Apple already distributes popular third-party gamepads like the Backbone One and SteelSeries controllers on its official storefront, developing in-house Beats hardware offers deeper ecosystem integration.
Why Apple Is Positioning Gaming Controllers Under Beats
Leveraging the Beats brand enables Apple to address lifestyle-oriented gamers with bolder colors, modern ergonomics, and competitive price points.
Releasing the controllers under Beats could also allow the company to bypass the costly aluminum finishes and premium price tags typical of flagship Apple-branded accessories.
Beats shares strong cultural overlap with younger Gen-Z gamers, mobile esports competitors, and creative audiences.
Neither Apple nor Beats has confirmed official launch dates or retail pricing yet for the upcoming mobile accessories.
