iOS 4 has been released recently. iOS is the new name of the iPhone OS since both the iPad and iPhone is using it. Most people are jailbreaking their iPad and iPhone to have a lot of more features including installing of apps and games which were not bought in the iTunes Store.
Jailbreak for the iPhone OS 4.0 is currently available only for iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G, so if you are using iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4 (if you also have it just like what Gizmodo did) better wait for it since iOS 4 jailbreak is still on beta.
