The ARM-space is about to get interesting as MediaTek has just announced the Kompanio 900T chipset that is made for premium tablets and also for notebooks. This chipset brings an ultra-low power consumption and technologies made for multimedia, AI, gaming, and wireless connectivity.
The MediaTek Kompanio 900T comes with a 6nm process and it features 2x ARM Cortex-A78 ultra-performance cores inside along with six ARM Cortex-A55 power-efficient cores and also an ARM Malli-G68 GPU with MediaTek APU inside. The chipset supports UFS 3.1 storage, 2K resolution with 120Hz refresh rate, and LPDDR5 memory.
It also brings new features including support 5G network with support for standalone and non-standalone dual mode networking with coverage for sub-6GHz. Aside from that, the Kompanio 900T supports 2×2 MIMO Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 for a faster connectivity.
Aside from that, it also brings MediaTek’s MiraVision image quality engine and AI enhanced video display features. The Kompanio 900T can enhance SDR videos to near HDR quality and upgrade HDR10 to nearly HDR10+ and of course, it supports HDR10+ video playback image quality enhancement features in real-time.
The MediaTek Kompanio platform is widely adopted by device manufacturers including Chromebook laptops and tablets. Devices with this chipset is expected to be available soon.
