Meta has expanded access to its dedicated personal AI assistant, Muse, officially making the tool available in Canada.
Meta just announced that Canadian users are now able to use and download Muse.ai just days after releasing it to the US market.
What Is Muse? It’s Not Just Another Chatbot
Muse is Meta’s answer to the agentic AI wave, and it operates very differently from the Meta AI assistant already found inside Instagram and WhatsApp. Meta describes it as a personal agent that does not just answer questions as it actually executes tasks on your behalf.
Under the hood, Muse runs inside what Meta calls the Muse Secure VM, a dedicated virtual computer equipped with its own browser, file system, and terminal. That architecture enables it to browse the web, fill out forms, schedule appointments, and manage customer service interactions autonomously.

Muse comes in three tiers. The free tier covers usage up to 100 million tokens per week, according to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Connect your email and calendar accounts, and Muse can triage your inbox, draft email replies, and schedule appointments. Email permissions are granular, allowing users to enable reading, sending, or both.
For busy professionals and students managing hybrid schedules, this automation alone provides immediate utility. The agent monitors incoming items in the background and only alerts you when meaningful updates occur.
Shop and Make Purchases for You
The agent can also complete online transactions through Link, Stripe’s payment service, which creates a one-time virtual card number at checkout.

Privacy: What Meta Is Doing With Your Data
Giving an AI assistant access to your inbox and payment methods requires serious security safeguards, and Meta is placing privacy at the center of its rollout. Conversations and user data inside your Muse virtual machine are not shared with Meta’s advertising systems.
Sensitive actions, including sending an outgoing email or confirming a retail transaction, always require explicit user confirmation through an interactive approval card. Passwords and payment credentials are encrypted and stored separately, meaning Muse cannot view raw credentials.
Users can also opt out of having Muse interactions used for AI model training during onboarding or within account settings. Later this year, Meta plans to roll out a Muse Confidential VM mode, where the entire virtual sandbox is encrypted with a user-held private key.

Muse is currently available on iOS and web in Canada, with an Android release expected soon. Users can also interact with the assistant directly through WhatsApp.
