Nothing Phone (1) to receive upgraded software in August

Exciting news for Nothing Phone users! The release of the Nothing Phone (2) is just around the corner, scheduled to take place at an event on July 11. Building upon the success of its predecessor, the Nothing Phone (2) will come pre-loaded with the all-new Nothing OS 2.0. This will bring a customized skin based on the latest Android 13 operating system. In addition, this upcoming software update also marks a significant milestone for the company. In fact, it represents a major leap forward from the current Nothing OS 1.5, which powers the existing Nothing Phone (1).

Upgraded Software Experience

Owners of the Nothing Phone (1) might be wondering when they can get Nothing OS 2.0 on their devices. According to Nothing CEO Carl Pei, the update will roll out “by the end of August.” This means that there will be a short waiting period of approximately a month and a half after the launch of the Nothing Phone (2).

The specific details about the enhancements in Nothing OS 2.0 are yet to be revealed. However, early indications suggest that the software development team has embarked on a comprehensive redesign, starting almost from scratch. This approach also promises an intriguing and improved user interface, delivering a fresh and captivating user experience for Nothing Phone users.

Commitment to Software Support

Carl Pei emphasizes the importance of software support for Nothing. In a tweet, he highlighted the company’s dedication to providing a seamless and optimized user experience. Looking ahead, Nothing aims to maintain its focus on software updates, with a keen eye on delivering prompt upgrades to both the Nothing Phone (1) and the recently unveiled Nothing Phone (2) when Android 14 becomes available. Acknowledging that the Android 13 update was not among the fastest to reach Nothing Phone (1) users, the company is determined to improve its update delivery timelines moving forward.

Impressive Hardware and Long-Term Support

Beyond the software enhancements, the Nothing Phone (2) already boasts impressive specifications. It will be powered by the high-performance Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset and feature a sizable 6.7-inch display. To keep users powered throughout the day, the device will be equipped with a robust 4,700mAh battery. Additionally, Nothing Phone (2) owners can look forward to an extended period of support. In fact, the device will receive three years of Android updates. In addition, it will also have four years of security patches from its initial launch.

Stay tuned for official updates!
