Apple has officially unveiled the new 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6, and it brings a major leap in power, enhanced graphics, and dedicated on-device AI capabilities especially made for LLMs. The updated professional laptop also sets a new endurance milestone with up to 24 hours of battery life.
Aimed at creatives, developers, students, and power users, the refreshed machine replaces the previous generation while delivering substantially higher performance per watt whether plugged into power or running on battery.
Apple M6 Chip Delivers 12-Core CPU and Advanced AI Muscle
At the heart of the laptop sits the M6 processor, featuring an 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU. The graphics subsystem integrates dedicated Neural Accelerators inside each core alongside third-generation hardware ray tracing.
Apple rates the M6 at up to 30 percent faster graphics performance and 25 percent faster AI prompt processing compared to M5. For upgraders coming from the original M1 generation, the new laptop delivers up to 11x faster graphics and up to 13x faster machine learning execution.
AI processing is further accelerated by an upgraded Dual 16-core Neural Engine offering 1.9x higher throughput than M5. The system begins with 16GB of unified memory as standard, with configuration options reaching up to 32GB across a high-speed 170GB/s bandwidth bus.
Liquid Retina XDR Display and 24-Hour Battery Life
The laptop retains Apple’s signature 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display, delivering up to 1600 nits of peak HDR brightness and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Buyers working in brightly lit production environments can also specify an optional anti-reflective nano-texture glass finish.
Efficiency gains from the M6 architecture allow the laptop to achieve up to 24 hours of continuous battery longevity on a single charge. When a top-up is required, fast-charging support replenishes the cell up to 50 percent in roughly 30 minutes using a 96W USB-C adapter.
Wi-Fi 7, Thunderbolt 4, and Pro Connectivity
For wireless connectivity, itsupports for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, providing faster data transfers and lower connection latency. The notebook also natively drives up to two external high-resolution displays simultaneously.
Physical ports remain extensive, featuring three Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, an HDMI video output, an SDXC memory card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a MagSafe 3 charging connector. Video calls are handled by an upgraded 12MP Center Stage webcam with Desk View support.
