Apple has officially announced the new Apple iMac with M6, bringing a substantial performance leap, advanced on-device artificial intelligence capabilities, and next-generation connectivity to its iconic all-in-one desktop. The refreshed computer maintains its strikingly thin profile while offering notable generational gains for families, students, and creative professionals.
For users upgrading from previous Intel-based all-in-one machines, Apple notes that the new M6 architecture provides up to 18x faster overall system performance, making it a compelling refresh for home and business workspaces.
Apple M6 Silicon Brings Up to 12-Core Performance and AI Muscle
At the center of the updated machine is the Apple M6 processor, available in configurations with up to a 12-core CPU and an up-to-12-core GPU. Each graphics core now incorporates dedicated Neural Accelerators alongside hardware-accelerated ray tracing to accelerate 3D rendering and modern gaming.
Graphics tasks run up to 2x faster compared to M4, while demanding software like Microsoft Excel operates up to 1.5x faster. Machine learning workloads receive a massive upgrade through a Dual 16-core Neural Engine, which delivers up to 5x faster on-device AI performance than M4 and up to 12x faster execution than M1.
The system comes equipped with 16GB of unified memory as standard, configurable to higher capacities across an elevated memory bandwidth of up to 170GB/s. Internal storage has also been enhanced, with SSD read and write speeds doubling compared to prior releases.

24-inch 4.5K Retina Display and Seven Vibrant Finishes
The desktop features an expansive 24-inch 4.5K Retina display offering 4480 x 2520 resolution, 500 nits of brightness, and P3 wide color gamut coverage supporting over a billion colors. It offers five times the resolution and nearly 70 percent more brightness than top-selling competitor all-in-one PC monitors.
Apple offers the computer in seven expressive shades, including blue, green, pink, yellow, purple, orange, and silver. Each unit ships with color-matched accessories, including a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and a Magic Mouse or Magic Trackpad utilizing USB-C charging ports.

Wi-Fi 7, Up to Four Thunderbolt 4 Ports, and 2.5Gb Ethernet
Wireless networking moves to contemporary standards with the addition of Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Wired networking also sees an optional boost with 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet, enabling 2.5x faster wired transfers for creative studios and business networks.
Depending on the configuration, the chassis provides up to four Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports on the rear panel. These ports facilitate ultra-fast external storage transfers and allow users to run up to two external 6K displays alongside the built-in Retina screen.
12MP Center Stage Camera and Studio-Grade Sound
Video meetings and family calls are driven by a 12MP Center Stage camera equipped with Desk View, which can show the presenter and a top-down view of their desk simultaneously. Audio is captured through a studio-quality three-microphone array with beamforming.
The audio setup consists of six speakers, including two pairs of force-cancelling woofers and high-performance tweeters. It supports Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos playback, producing rich acoustic depth throughout any room.
macOS 27 Golden Gate and Siri AI Experience
Out of the box, the computer runs macOS 27 Golden Gate, deeply integrating Apple Intelligence tools with strong privacy standards. A revamped Siri AI assistant can summarize content, answer conversational questions across open applications, and execute multi-step tasks.
Visual Intelligence is accessible via keyboard shortcuts to analyze charts or images directly on screen. In keeping with environmental commitments, the aluminum stand is 100 percent recycled, and the packaging is entirely fiber-based.
