Dell brings back the XPS 13 as an affordable MacBook Neo rival

Dell is bringing back one of its most iconic laptop brands as the company officially revives the XPS 13. The laptop is positioned as a more affordable premium Windows laptop and a direct competitor to Apple’s MacBook Neo.

The new Dell XPS 13 measures at just 12.7mm thin and weighing 2.2 pounds. Despite its slim profile, Dell is still giving it a premium build with a CNC aluminum chassis, a 2.5K IPS display, quad speakers, and support for Wi-Fi 7.

One of the biggest highlights of the new XPS 13 is its price. The laptop starts at $599 for students and $699 for regular buyers, making it one of Dell’s most accessible premium laptops.

For the base model, buyers will get an Intel Core Series 3 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. Higher-end configurations will also be available with Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, up to 32GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of storage.

Dell is also giving the new XPS 13 several advantages over Apple’s MacBook Neo, including a touchscreen display, a 120Hz refresh rate, 100% DCI-P3 color coverage, and a fully backlit keyboard. The laptop also comes with two USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports and a webcam with Windows Hello support.

Unlike the fanless MacBook Neo, the Dell XPS 13 uses a dual-fan cooling system. While this means it may not be as silent as Apple’s laptop, active cooling could help the XPS 13 sustain better performance.

The new Dell XPS 13 will be available in two colors: Storm and Sky. The base model, including the $599 student configuration, is expected to arrive this June, while higher-end variants are set to launch later this summer.
