Sony is opening up its Playstation VR2 to play PC VR games with an adapter this coming August. This move allows PlayStation VR2 users to tap into their library of PC VR titles beyond just PlayStation’s own ecosystem of games. By utilizing the adapter, the VR2 headset and controllers can interface with SteamVR and access games and apps like Steam.

The adapter will be available for purchase from PlayStation’s online store and select retailers starting August 7th. Pricing has not yet been announced. Sony notes that not all PC VR games may be fully compatible initially, and functionality could vary across titles.

This cross-platform capability gives the PlayStation VR2 a major advantage over rival headsets like the Meta Quest 2 that are currently restricted to their own separate libraries and ecosystems.

The PS VR2 features eye-tracking, 4K HDR display, and new VR controller sensing technology, the PlayStation VR2 can now double as an advanced PC VR headset for gaming and applications beyond the Playstation platform.

The Playstation VR2 PC adapter will be available for USD 60
