Portraits

One of the advantage of having the Huawei P30 Pro is its portrait mode thanks to the AI capabilities of the P30 Pro, the blurring on the smartphone is on point and it’s really quite good. Even the hair strands can be detected and the blurring of the edges are almost on point.

Selfies

The Huawei P30 Pro’s selfie camera isn’t its best feature but it does its job well. It is now sharper compared to the previous generation, the P30 Pro boasts a more natural look with sharper photos and features better skin tones.

Night mode

The Huawei P20 series introduced the beauty of the night mode to smartphones and yes, the night mode of the P30 Pro was amazing. It’s even better than I expected as I can do long exposure night modes and the P30 Pro can capture better details and better photos at night.

Auto

Yep, the camera of the Huawei P30 Pro is just good whatever you want the smartphone’s camera for. The AI mode is great and brings better colors and better bokeh. But of course, you could easily turn that AI off.

0

Square Enix has dropped a short teaser trailer today of Final Fantasy VII Remake which surprises the fans of the series. The Final Fantasy VII Remake was first announced at E3 2015 and it a lot of people are clamoring for it due as Final Fantasy VII is one of the best in the series.

However, despite being announced in 2015, Square Enix encountered a lot of problems during its development as the company moved the development of the game in-house and there have been no teasers after the game was announced in 2015.

The game is expected to be episodic and by looking at the trailer, we’re just seeing the first part of the game which happens in Midgar. Well, it’s 2019 already and I expect this game to be out on the next-gen consoles.

Oh and yeah, Aerith will still probably die in this game.

ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DU Hands-On & Benchmarks

0

ASUS has launched the FX505 series earlier this year and it’s their latest gaming notebook. It packs a Ryzen 7 3750H processor and the latest GTX 1660Ti GPU. This combination has made the notebook affordable and despite the lack of ROG naming and the usage of the TUF Gaming branding, the ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DU is decent enough.

Design and construction

Surprisingly, the ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DU is decent enough when it comes to build quality. Yes it comes with a plastic build which is already expected on this one but it comes with a brushed metal look and according to ASUS, it comes with a MIL-STD-810G durability test which makes the notebook tougher.

The notebook comes with a 3x USB port with two of them a USB 3.0 while the other one is a USB 2.0. There’s an HDMI port too, headphone jack, and a LAN port. The lid of the ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DU comes with a Radiating-X design with a sandblasted finish which makes the notebook’s feel premium.

Keyboard and touchpad

The ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DU comes with a decent size keyboard and despite the minimal bezel on this notebook, the ASUS FX505DU has a more compact design that comes with a numpad. Surprisingly, it comes with an RGB backlight that comes with different lighting effects. There’s a decent key travel distance too and yes, there’s the ASUS Aura RGB Sync.

There’s a decent touchpad too but I highly recommend not using it when playing games. Yes, it’s usable and responsive but not as good as expected. Nonetheless, the ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DU will come with a mouse so you probably won’t use the touchpad that much.

Display

There’s a 15.6-inch display on this notebook and it comes with a Full HD Resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.  Playing on this game was fine especially when playing games like PUBG, it was really smooth and the colors were really fine on this notebook.

Performance

The ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DU is a performer. Inside this notebook is a Ryzen 7 3750H CPU which is new and then there are GTX 1660Ti which is already powerful enough to run most games at a decent FPS. We were able to run some games on the laptop too and we also did some benchmarks and we got these scores:

In PCMark and 3DMark, the ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DU got respectable scores. In 3DMark, it’s a big upgrade from the GTX 1050 and the GTX 1660Ti got almost 2x of the scores of the latter while in PCMark, the notebook still didn’t disappoint and it matches with the current Core i5 processors on gaming notebooks now.

We also tried playing PUBG on the gaming notebook and yes, Ultra settings is playable on this notebook as we even reach a maximum FPS of 83 and an average of 61 fps. Overall, this is a great notebook for gaming too despite carrying the TUF Gaming brand instead of ROG.

Verdict

The ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DU is a decent notebook and the upgrade to Ryzen 7 with Nvidia GTX 1660Ti is really a good choice for the notebook as we got better performance over GTX 1050 which makes this notebook powerful enough to run most games that are available in the market today.

0

A new photo tweeted by ASUS has confirmed a lot of new features that are expected on the ASUS Zenfone 6 and these are the Snapdragon 855 processor inside, audio jack, triple card tray, notification LED, and a smart key.

The Snapdragon 855 is already expected on the smartphone as it is the most powerful chipset from Qualcomm. The addition of audio jack and the notification LED is a big plus for most people as a lot of flagship smartphones are ditching these features in favor of a full screen no notch display and lastly, there’s the smart key which can be a shortcut to Google assistant or other features.

The ASUS Zenfone 6 is expected to be unveiled this May 16, 2019 at Valencia, Spain so if you want to know more about it, stay tuned for their announcements.

0

The iPhone XI or the iPhone 11 series is expected to be unveiled this year and just like last year, we can expect a cheaper “R” variant for the series. The iPhone 11R will get a minor update as the renders based on CAD files shows that the smartphone will have a dual lens camera.

Basically, the smartphone’s front design remains unchanged as we still got a notch on the smartphone but the back just added an additional camera lens. So yeah, no major difference aside from the dual lens camera.

Google unveils the Pixel 3A & 3A XL, starts at $399 (Php20,760~)

1

Google I/O starts today and the company has introduced the Google Pixel 3A and the Pixel 3A XL and it’s aimed to make an impact on the Android market as both smartphones will be more affordable compared to their current flagship smartphones and I mean half the price of the Pixel 3. The catch? They pack mid-range specifications.

Despite the usage of midrange specifications, the Google Pixel 3A and 3A XL are still a great smartphone as Google promises a great camera on this one. The Pixel 3A and Pixel 3A XL come with a Snapdragon 670 processor and there are the 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Unfortunately, there’s no microSD card slot on this one.

The Pixel 3A comes with a 5.6-inch OLED panel with Full HD+ display with Dragon trail glass while the Pixel 3A XL comes with 6.0-inch OLED with Full HD+ display.

The smartphone also comes with a 12.2MP Sony IMX363 sensor on the rear camera and there’s the f/1.8 aperture too and OIS and the smartphone are expected to match the performance of the Pixel 3 smartphone’s camera. Of course, there’s the 8MP front camera too with f2.0 aperture. We still have the features called Night Sight, Top Shot, and Super Res Zoom and HDR+ which are all loved on the Pixel devices.

The Pixel 3A also comes with 3000mAh battery while the Pixel 3A XL comes with a 3700mAh battery and both of them supports 18W fast charging. Both smartphones will also have a plastic build to make it more affordable but hey, the smartphones come with headphone jacks.

The Pixel 3A starts at $399 (Php20,760) while the Pixel 3A XL starts at $479 (Php24,922)
