Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) Hands-On

0

Samsung is really serious in competing against the mid-range smartphones now as they introduced the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) that packs a triple rear lens camera. It’s not the first time that we’ve seen this technology but it is the first time that is able to see this on a Samsung smartphone and notably, it’s not on a Galaxy S or Galaxy Note smartphone.

The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) looks neat. The smartphone features a triple lens camera at the back and then there’s the glass on the front and back of the smartphone. It also features a curved plastic side which is why smartphone does feel comfortable to hold.

The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) features a MicroUSB port and a headphone jack below along with the speaker grill. While this is understandable as most of the mid-range smartphones at its price range is still using Micro USB however, I still wished that the smartphone sports a USB-C instead. Inside the smartphone is a triple card tray that’s why you can use two sim cards along with a MicroSD card.

The display of the smartphone doesn’t have a notch which is in line with their flagship smartphones in where the company doesn’t go for that route. It’s a Super AMOLED display which is why the colors of the smartphone are really vivid and overall, the display of the smartphone was really fine.

The fingerprint scanner of the smartphone is a little bit odd as it was also placed on the home button of the smartphone. The placement is a little bit odd and it takes getting used to, however, the combination of the face unlock and the fingerprint scanner made unlocking the smartphone fast to me. However, the face unlock alone of the smartphone isn’t the fastest that I’ve seen but I’m pretty satisfied with it.

With regards to the camera, the Samsung Galaxy A7 features a triple lens rear camera. The camera comprises of a 24MP f/1.7 camera, 8MP 120-degree wide angle f/2.4 camera, & a 5MP f/2.2 depth sensor. Surprisingly, the camera of the smartphone works well and it was pretty awesome. The rear camera of the Galaxy A7 works well and even the wide-angle camera of the smartphone was really good.

Overall, we’re pretty impressed with the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018). It’s actually a surprising move that Samsung has made a smartphone that can really compete in the mid-range segment which is really popular in the country. The Samsung Galaxy A7 will go head to head against OPPO F9 and Vivo V11 and actually, the price of this triple-lens rear packing smartphone from Samsung is really competitive.

The Samsung Galaxy A7 will be available this October 27 for Php17,990.
