Selfie smartphones are definitely loved by the Filipino people especially the teens and the millenials and if you’re looking for a new selfie smartphone then OPPO smartphones are definitely the one for you. And recently, OPPO has launched their newest selfie smartphone that packs a dual selfie camera, the OPPO F3. You can actually read our review of the OPPO F3 over here. Initially, the smartphone is available in Gold and Rose Gold but now, the OPPO F3 is now available in Black which is sleeker and IMO, looks better than the other two.

The specifications of the smartphone is still the same and there’s no change in the hardware inside. The price is also the same and as of this posting, the OPPO F3 is on sale for only P15,990. The OPPO F3 Black edition is now available but if you want a bigger smartphone, you can opt for the OPPO F3 Plus and yes, it also comes it black.

MSI GT83VR Titan 7RF SLI Review

0

Whenever you hear the Nvidia GeForce® GTX 1080 SLI 8GB GDDR5X inside a laptop. Most of you would probably think that it’s already insane to have that hardware on a laptop considering that most games and heavy applications would run smoothly on a single Nvidia GeForce® GTX 1080 SLI 8GB GDDR5X graphics card. But how about when you have two of it on a single laptop? Yes, that’s possible with the MSI GT83VR Titan SLI. And today We’ll review this beast.

Design and Construction

For starters, the MSI GT 83VR does have an odd design to some people but we have seen this laptop design on other brands. So basically, this laptop packs a Cherry MX switches in its keyboard and on the side, we got the touchpad of the notebook which also serves as the Numpad of the laptop.

So yeah, it’s a downer for some as you can’t feel the mechanical switches on the num pad but it does save a lot of space for vent. So how does it switches to the num pad? It’s easy. Just press the Num at the upper left of the touchpad and it will automatically transform in a num pad from the touchpad.

Without a doubt, the notebook is big. It’s large. But of course, it means that the notebook is a beast. It has a very thick profile and it’s also not portable. It packs a Blu-Ray drive just above the vent on the side and then there’s the Card Reader, USB 3.0 ports, digital audio port, mic and headphone jack.

The body of laptop is made of aluminum with a brushed metal look and when you open it

The laptop is a real beast and the best thing I love about this notebook is its Cherry MX Silver Switches on the keyboard. The keyboard is shallower and it’s great for gaming as the switches are softer but not as good as the Cherry MX Blue switches (That I love and I’m biased by the way). But nonetheless, the keyboard of the notebook was good and very comfortable whether you’re using it for gaming or for typing.

Oh, and yes, we do have an RGB lighting on the keyboard that you can customize using the SteelSeriesEngine software and there are a lot of different presets that are built in for the RGB backlighting of the keyboard. However, I do have a little problem. Since the keyboard is placed at the edge of the notebook, there’s no palm rest when typing on the keyboard and it’s a little bit tiring on the wrist after typing on the keyboard for a while.

The notebook also has a tall touchpad and it’s pretty good when using for browsing the web or just normal usage unless you want to use the num pad. I still suggest that you get a mouse for this one (Well, if you could afford a laptop like this then I’m pretty sure that you can afford a mouse for your MSI GT 83VR).

The gaming notebook is thick and heavy. One of the reasons for that is to give way for a better cooling. Remember. This notebook not only have a powerful processor but it also packs dual GTX 1080 inside. So yeah, it pretty much requires lots of power and also produces a lot of heat but it’s cool when playing games. The keyboard and the touchpad don’t heat up too much but on the top of it is where the heat is high.

Oh and don’t worry about its heat because all you need to is to press one of the three buttons at the top to activate its max fan speeds.

Fantastic Audio

The audio of the notebook is probably one of the best features of the notebook. The notebook has a Nahimic Audio Enhancer that lets you control and boosts the audio and voice performance of your gaming notebook. And yes, the Nahimic software was really flexible and the audio quality of the notebook was really top notch. Not only that it was loud enough to be heard in a big room but it also crisp and clear enough. Again, the audio of the notebook is really good and I’m pretty sure every user would appreciate it.

No G-Sync or 4k Display here

Ok, so what we have here is a massive 18.4-inch display. It’s a lot smaller compared to Acer’s gigantic 21-inch curved display on a notebook but this one is still massive. Unfortunately, despite being the flagship notebook of the brand today, the MSI GT83VR Titan SLI doesn’t have a 4K display or at least a G-Sync to have a buttery smooth gaming. But for its Full HD display, it’s just fine and well, however, I still wished that this one would really have at G-Sync in it. The colors were just fine in case you want to use the notebook for photo and video editing

The Battery Life

I don’t see any reason why we should talk about this. I mean, look at its specs. Look at its hardware. Do you think that this one would last long even not on gaming? C’mon. This notebook was able to last 2 hours of continuous web usage however if you’re planning on using it for gaming. Don’t expect it to last more than an hour.

This is a beast

Everyone would agree that this one is a beast. Let me refresh your minds with its hardware. The notebook that we are reviewing packs a pair of Nvidia GeForce® GTX 1080 SLI 8GB GDDR5X and an Intel Core i7-7820HK processor and 32GB  RAM.

This notebook is more powerful than the 96% of computers in the world. Yep. It is. That’s how powerful the MSI GT83VR is. And yes, any games you would fit into this laptop would run well. It will run fast and it will run without any problems on this one (Unless you have cracked games that have some feisty bugs)

In case you’re doubtful of what I’m saying, check out the benchmarks of the notebooks below.

In case you are not convinced with the benchmarks. I was able to run these games without problems at the highest possible settings at 1920×1080. Check out the FPS of the games below.

I know, pretty amazing, right? Those numbers are pretty good.

The MSI GT83VR Titan SLI has a lot of pre-installed software and I’m pretty sure that you’ll want to uninstall a lot of them but some of them are useful including the MSI Dragon center in where you can find all the things that you need to adjust for the SteelSeries Engine, Nahimic and much more. The SteelSeries Engine application lets you adjust the colors of the notebook and yes, there are a lot of presets that comes with it. The RGB colors of the notebook are very much customizable depending on what you want.

Overall this notebook is a beast. The MSI GT83VR Titan SLI got a pretty mechanical keyboard and it is actually pretty fine and not just that, it also has an RGB lighting which is very customizable. It also packs a powerful Intel Core processor inside and a pair of Nvidia GeForce® GTX 1080 SLI 8GB GDDR5X which you would probably rare to see anywhere and a pretty good thermal. It’s very powerful but that one comes with a price, it is thick and it is really heavy. Despite its behemoth performance and a lot of features, I still have some gripes about it including the lack of 4K display or a Gsync display

If you have the money to splurge for a laptop like this then why not. If you don’t have the money, well, just sell off one of them because we all have two kidneys anyway.

OPPO F3 Review

0

OPPO Philippines has recently launched the OPPO F3 which is the smaller brother of the OPPO F3 Plus, the smartphone that reviewed before that has a large display, a dual selfie camera, and a pretty good performance. And just like its bigger brother, the OPPO F3 packs a dual selfie camera but this time, it has a 5.5-inch Full HD display and then there’s a different processor because the OPPO F3 packs a MediaTek MT6750T processor. Are you interested in this smartphone made for selfies? Check out our review below.

A smaller F3 Plus

Instead of the unibody metal design of the OPPO F3 Plus, we got a different one on the OPPO F3. Gone are the three lines at the top and bottom of the back of the smartphone and now we have a design similar to the OPPO F1s except that this one has a mix of aluminum at the back.

On the front, you can barely tell the difference between OPPO F1s. However, you can easily notice that the smartphone has a dual camera on the front. The smartphone still has that home button that can’t be pressed down similar to the iPhone 7 and the OPPO F3 Plus. Don’t worry, it’s easy to get used to it.

The volume rocker and the power button on the sides of the smartphone while you can find the micro USB port, 3.5mm audio jack and the speaker grill below the smartphone. Oh, and before I forgot, the sim card tray of the OPPO F3 can actually handle two nano sims and a microSD card. Yes. No need to sacrifice a Sim card just to use your microSD card. But most of you guys won’t probably need a microSD card slot because the OPPO F3 already packs a 64GB of internal storage

The smartphone is comfortable to hold and use and I don’t really have problems using the OPPO F3 as this one has the right curves but I would still recommend you guys to use the included free jelly case out of the box.

A long battery life

The OPPO F3 also has a 3200mAh battery which is pretty hefty as I was able to squeeze the smartphone a whole work day of average use and around 10-11 hours of my heavy usage. Those are actually pretty good numbers and sometimes, I don’t even bring my power bank with me anymore. However, VOOC fast charging of OPPO isn’t present on the smartphone which is a bummer.

A different display

Not only that the OPPO F3 packs a smaller 5.5-inch display but the display of the smartphone is not similar to the OPPO F3 Plus. The OPPO F3 uses an in-cell display instead of the IPS display of the OPPO F3 Plus. Well, it actually feels like the display is a downgrade because the IPS produces better colors and it has a better contrast compared to the OPPO F3 Plus.

But don’t frown yet because, despite that, it isn’t really a deal breaker for most people unless there are really into IPS display because the display of the OPPO F3 is still acceptable and is still good to the eye. Oh and using the smartphone outside won’t be a problem too.

A MediaTek Processor

The OPPO F3 uses a MediaTek Processor instead of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 processor which was used on the OPPO F3 Plus. The OPPO F3 specifically uses a MediaTek MT6750T Octa-Core processor and also a 4GB of RAM. The performance of the smartphone was good but not as good as the OPPO F3 Plus.

The MediaTek processor inside the smartphone can play most games without problems including Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and also NBA 2k17. However, if you want to play the smartphone on the highest settings on some 3D heavy games, then you might not be able to play that nicely on this phone. It is suggested to play heavy 3D games and mid-high settings. Oh, and I also noticed that the smartphone is getting a little bit warmer after a few minutes of gaming.

The OPPO F3 is still running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Color OS 3.0. The UI is really good to the eye because I really like its pastel colors and the interface is easy to navigate and easy to learn and yes, there is no app drawer on this one so the first time smartphone users won’t be confused with its UI. However, the smartphone still has some unnecessary bloatware that comes with it.

And since we have a spacious 64GB of internal storage on the smartphone, you won’t have a problem installing a lot of games on it. I’ve actually installed tons of games on the smartphone and I still didn’t run out of storage. In case you’re worried about its storage, don’t worry because you could expand its storage via MicroSD even if you’re using dual sim cards.

The Dual selfie camera

The biggest feature of the OPPO F3 series is the dual selfie camera. Both the F3 and the F3 Plus packs a dual selfie camera and in case you’re not familiar with how it works, one of the front cameras is a 16-megapixel which is made for selfies while the other one is an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera which is made for groufies.

The cameras actually performed well than I expected however it’s not on par with the OPPO F3 Plus. But don’t worry because it is still good. I noticed that the selfies that I took are a little bit overexposed and sometimes my selfies on both dual selfie cameras are brighter than expected. But again, you don’t have to worry about it because the OPPO F3 still performed well.

At the back of the smartphone is a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. Actually, the front cameras of the smartphone performed better than the one at the back. The rear camera of the OPPO F3 can take some decent photos however at lowlight, expect a little bit softer photos. But no worries, the rear camera of the OPPO F3 is still acceptable however it isn’t the best one in the price range. Check out the shots that I took using the OPPO F3 below:

Verdict

The OPPO F3 is the smaller brother of the OPPO F3 Plus but it does have a lot of differences aside from its screen size. It has a different screen quality, different body, and a different processor. For most consumers who are not hardcore users and they just want to take selfies, they won’t notice the difference between the OPPO F3 and the OPPO F3 Plus aside from its size.

Again, the OPPO F3 does have a good selfie camera and a good experience despite a change of its processor from Qualcomm to MediaTek. However, some of the bummers include the in-cell display, lack of fast-charging, and a slower processor compared to the one on the OPPO F3 Plus.

Overall, the OPPO F3 is still a good smartphone for selfies with a long battery life however, I would highly suggest that you get the OPPO F3 Plus if you can because the bigger brother not only the F3 Plus has a better build, it also has a better performance, larger display, and it can take better photos.

The OPPO F3 is now available for P16,990 while the OPPO F3 Plus is available for P23,990.

OPPO Philippines is currently having a sale in where you can get the OPPO F3 at a discounted price!
