Cubix Cube 3 Review

0

Cubix is Cherry Mobile’s brand of smartphones that are only available at Lazada. It follows the online-only strategy of other brands and it was really successful because the Cubix brand brings powerful devices at an affordable price. Today, we’ll review the latest affordable smartphone from Cubix, the Cubix Cube 3.

 Cubix Cube 35

Hardware and Design

Cubix Cube 34The one that I’m reviewing is gold and it looks really clean thanks to its on-screen buttons and the black bezels of the smartphone that adds sexiness to the smartphone. The Cubix Cube 3 looks very similar to the Huawei Mate series and yes, the smartphone looks really good to the eye

Cubix Cube 38

The body of the smartphone is purely made up of plastic but the smartphone feels very solid although I notice that the smartphone is a little bit too thick by today’s standards. The back cover of the smartphone features a woven-like design and it really feels good to the hand despite having a plastic build. Inside the smartphone is a non-removable battery and also the dual sim card slot and a MicroSD card slot.

Cubix Cube 32

The smartphone also sports a 16GB internal storage which is enough for most as long as you add a MicroSD card with it and one of its biggest upgrade from its predecessor is that the Cubix Cube 3 now sports LTE.

Cubix Cube 36

Display

The Cubix Cube 3 packs a 5.5-inch display and to keep the smartphone’s cost down, Cubix opted for an HD resolution instead of a Full HD which has both some advantages and disadvantages. The thing is, since there’s only an HD resolution on this one, this smartphone wouldn’t require too much power from its chipset but the disadvantage is that the smartphone is less sharp and will not look good as the one on other smartphones with Full HD Display.

Cubix Cube 33

Outside, I don’t have any problems with the smartphone’s display and it is very visible outside. The Cubix Cube 3 also looks like the smartphone has an edge-to-edge display because of its black bezels and that really adds to the sexiness of the smartphone. The smartphone’s display isn’t the best even at its price range but it works fine and I don’t really had any problems with it.

Software and Performance

Cubix Cube 39

One thing that I really like about the smartphone is that there are only a few apps that are pre-installed and the smartphone doesn’t use a bloated or special UI that might affect the performance of the smartphone. Speaking of performance, the Cubix Cube 3 packs an MT6753 processor along with 2GB of RAM which runs decently on this smartphone.

The smartphone might not be filled with bloated apps but I’m getting a lot of advertisements via notifications which are really annoying and really a big deal breaker for me. I wish Cherry Mobile could remove that feature by default because that feature really annoys me.

The smartphone doesn’t have too many problems in terms of performance as it can run most applications without hiccups but when it comes to gaming, the Cubix Cube 3 can handle most games but when it comes to 3D heavy games such as NBA 2k16, you’ll have to set it at the lowest settings to enjoy the game however, you’ll still experience some lags even at that settings. But if you’re planning on using the smartphone only for Clash Royale and other casual games, then you will not have too many problems with the smartphone.

Cubix Cube 310

The smartphone got a 2700mAh battery and thankfully, I was still able to use it for 10 hours of average use, however, heavy usage with LTE on all the time will drain your battery in just a few hours but for its 2700mAh battery, I was pretty satisfied with it.

In Antutu, the Cubix Cube 3 got a score of 37161.

Camera

Cubix Cube 37

The Cubix Cube 3 got a 16-Megapixel Rear Camera with LED flash and unfortunately, the camera of the Cubix Cube 3 is really disappointing. Most of the shots that I took were pale and some of them were washed out. Overall, I was not really happy about its camera. Check out the shots that I took using the smartphone:

Verdict

One of the dealbreakers of this smartphone is its camera and the really annoying ads however, with the Cubix Cube 3, you’ll get a pretty solid smartphone and pretty good performance. The Cherry Mobile Flare series is one of the best smartphones that you can get at P4,999 however, if you want to get a decent smartphone for a very low price, you can opt for the Infinix series of smartphones which is more affordable but lacks LTE and it has a slower performance.

But if you want to get a bigger smartphone then head on to the Cubix Cube 3 however, the Cubix Cube 3 is only available at Lazada.  The Cubix Cube 3 is now available at Lazada.com.ph for P4,999

Samsung has just launched the Galaxy A 2016 series today and these are the Galaxy A5 2016 & A7 2016. The former packs a 5.2-inch display while the latter has a 5.5-inch display. Both smartphones pack a premium design and some awesome features. This might be a midrange smartphone but the Samsung Galaxy A 2016 series still packs a premium design and some features that can be only found on the flagship smartphones before.

Samsung Galaxy A5 2016
Both Galaxy smartphones pack a Full HD AMOLED display and it isn’t as sharp as the one on the flagship smartphones but the display of these smartphones looks really good. Another thing that I really like in the smartphone is the camera which has an aperture of f/1.9 and also OIS which makes the smartphone capture better images and videos

P2P Buses now accept BEEP Card as payment option

0

P2P buses are one of the projects that are well-loved by most commuters because it’s safe and it picks up and drops only at certain locations including SM North EDSA, SM Megamall, and Glorietta. P2P buses are also the best choice to avoid long commuting hours and to have a more comfortable ride.
