Firefly Mobile just announced their newest smartphone the most affordable smartphone and according to them, it’s the lowest priced smartphone in the world that can play everyone’s favorite game, Clash of Clans! This smartphone is the Firefly Mobile S10 Lite and it is priced at P899. I know, it’s freaking super affordable.

ASUS STRIX Tactic Pro Mechanical Keyboard Review

The ASUS Strix Claw Dark Edition Mouse is best partnered with ASUS STRIX Tactic Pro gaming keyboard and today, we’re gonna review this keyboard. It’s a mechanical gaming keyboard that I’ve been using for quite some time. So do you want to know more about it? Check out my review of the ASUS STRIX Tactic Pro below.

 

The ASUS Strix Tactic Pro gaming keyboard is made of plastic as expected. There are no quirky materials on this one, but it’s pretty solid. It’s one of a hell gaming keyboard because it features a lot of Macro keys and normally a keyboard with this number of macro keys would be large and won’t fit on my table but the STRIX Tactic Pro is smaller than I expected and yes, it did fit on my table. Having a smaller gaming keyboard means that it will be more ideal whenever you have smaller space and you can bring it anywhere. But of course, this one is heavy if you’re planning on bringing this somewhere.

Having a good structure on the keyboard is very important not only on typing but also on gaming. The STRIX Tactic Pro features a full-sized QWERTY keyboard with numpads and macro-keys. Yep, that’s a total of 21 Macro keys. There’s an alternative orange WASD keys on the box too which is great for gaming and it’s really easy to remove the key caps.

The STRIX Tactic Pro that I’ve been reviewing features a Cherry MX Red key switches and for those who always play using their keyboard in the dark there’s an orange backlighting on the keyboard (Very helpful when you’re always researching about art films in the middle of the night).

Instead of going rubber, the ASUS STRIX Tactic Pro features a fabric cord with a gold-plated plated connector. One thing that I hate about it is that the USB is too thick and in some cases, the USB connector won’t fit alongside the USB connector of the Strix Claw Dark Edition. Nonetheless, I really like the cord and it’s really good and solid.

 

If you haven’t typed on a mechanical keyboard before, typing on it is fun and more clicky and springy. And for me, typing on a mechanical keyboard is faster and better than on a normal keyboard. On the ASUS STRIX Tactic Pro, I notice one thing and it’s really something that I hate because most of the time, I tend to double type on a single key even in one stroke. Maybe it’s just me but I always have that mistake whenever I’m typing on the keyboard

Again, the keyboard features 21 Macro keys and 10 of them are placed on the left side of the keyboard while 3 are place below the keyboard and the rest are placed on the F1-F8 keys. This number of macro keys are really great for playing MMOs and MOBAs or whatever games that require you to have a lot of keys.

At the top right, you can see the scrollable volume control along with the multimedia keys. I really love using it and I’m pretty sure I’ll miss it once I return this keyboard. LOL. This multimedia keys works on different applications and you won’t have too much problem with it.

The ASUS STRIX Tactic Pro also works best if you have the software installed with it. In this software, you could map the different macro keys and it’s very user-friendly. You won’t have a hard time figuring out the STRIX software and you could map all macro keys and also set a profile on the 3 shortcut keys. The keyboard also features NKRO that lets you do limitless simultaneous keypresses and also Macro recording.

They ASUS STRIX Tactic Pro gaming keyboard is good but not the best one. Nonetheless, the keyboard is good and I really like its smaller build despite having 21 Macro keys. The ASUS STRIX Tactic Pro is now available nationwide.

ASUS Strix Claw Dark Edition Review

A few weeks ago, ASUS Philippines lend me a gaming mouse and it’s a really good one. That gaming mouse us the ASUS Strix Claw Dark Edition gaming mouse. It’s not so affordable but this mouse is currently included in the Strix gaming bundle of ASUS. Want to know more about it? Check out my review below.

This mouse is best partnered with the Strix Tactic Pro and its design matches with the other Strix devices which are really cool. So let’s talk about the Strix Claw Dark Edition. At first sight, you know that this is a gaming mouse although unlike another gaming mouse, this one doesn’t have a fancy design and materials with it.

The Strix Claw is made up of plastic but doesn’t feel cheap but unfortunately, there’s no rubber materials used to have more grip on the mouse but its curvatures and its structure is really comfortable to use at any cases and any games.

One thing you’ll immediately notice is that the mouse is illuminated with an orange LED and not the usual red which is found on the ASUS ROG logo because this one is lined-up on the Strix products. The LED also fades when you don’t use the mouse too.

This mouse is perfect for gaming because this one features a 2 Fast switch DPI buttons that let you adjust the DPI of the mouse in 4 levels. There’s also a claw-like LED at the top which lets you know which level of DPI you are. This feature is just perfect on many games, especially on FPS games. On the left, there are also three thumb buttons that you can use for Macro which helps you do more with the mouse.

There’s a software for the Strix Claw and it’s pretty good and doesn’t confuse that much. It’s user-friendly and it doesn’t suck. With the Strix software, you can customize the buttons on the mouse. You can also add Macros too and of course, use it for games. Not just that, the ASUS Strix software can also adjust the sensitivity and the polling rate of the mouse if you wanted too. Adding profiles are also featured here which lets you have different settings depending on the settings that you need.

I’ve tried it in different games such as DOTA, MGSV: Phantom Pain, Dead Island Riptide, Dying light, and many more and this mouse was great. The mouse is really comfortable too and the ergonomics of the mouse is really great thanks to its design and all added features. Without a doubt, the ASUS Strix Claw Dark Edition is one of the best gaming mice out there.

ASUS have released tons of Zenfones this year and if you’re looking for an affordable one then you might want to opt for the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0. And no, this one doesn’t have the same specifications of the ASUS Zenfone 2 but this one packs midrange specs which make the smartphone more affordable

 

Hardware and Design

 

The design of the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser is similar to other Zenfones. Compared to the Zenfone 2 Laser 5.5, the Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 got a metal brushed design look similar to the Zenfone 2 and of course, the arc back design which makes the phone easier to hold. The materials are still plastic despite having that brushed metal look..

The volume buttons are placed at the back too but since the smartphone has a smaller 5-inch display compared to other Zenfones, I could easily reach the power button at the top of this phone easily.

 

Inside the device is a dual sim card slot, which supports both Micro sim along with the MicroSD card slot if you need more storage from that 16GB of Internal storage. There’s a MicroUSB port below the smartphone and the 3.5mm audio jack is placed at the top of the smartphone. Basically, the look of this smartphone is very similar to the Zenfones that were released before.

But how about the features that set the Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 different from others? Well, this Zenfone is not the cheapest but it is pegged below P8,000 which is placed on the affordable line.

 

The smartphone also supports OTG if you need to use your flash drives and accessories. The audio? It’s not something to be desired of this smartphone but of course, it’s loud enough but not satisfying for audiophiles.

 

Display

There are two variants of the Zenfone 2 Laser and this is the smaller brother with a 5-inch HD display while its bigger brother, boasts a 5.5-inch display. Since this smartphone is just running on Snapdragon 410 processor, I think they made the right choice of not using a Full HD display because the Snapdragon 410 processor wouldn’t be enough to run Full HD apps and games on this smartphone.

Regarding the display, yes, it does look good and the colors aren’t washed out. It’s not as good as the Zenfone 2 but it does look good for an HD display but of course, it’s not sharp as the Full HD display of the Zenfone 2 and other smartphones with higher resolution. But again, the smartphone’s display is good.

 

Software and Performance

This smartphone still opt for the ZenUI which is the same UI used on the previous Zenfones that we’ve reviewed before. There’s nothing swiped off from this smartphone and you can still expect the ASUS apps along with the Zenfone 2 Laser such as PC Link, which lets you mirror the display of the smartphone to your PC.

But of course, the customizations are still there and the themes are still customizable on this smartphone. Some apps that you can see on the smartphone are power saver, which lets you optimize and control the power consumption of the smartphone and kids mode that lets you have control of what apps your kid can run on the smartphone.

The smartphone runs on a Snapdragon 410 processor along with 2 GB of RAM. When it comes to performance, it can’t match its bigger brothers’ processors such as the Intel Atom Z3580 and Snapdragon 615 but this smartphone can still do the job well.

And if you’re planning on playing on this smartphone, you could play some latest games on this one but don’t expect to have the full enjoyable experience such as the NBA 2k16. You can’t max out the settings and you have to set it at the lowest to enjoy the game.

 

Camera

The ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 packs a 8 Megapixel Rear Camera with Laser Auto-Focus and Dual-LED Flash. For its price range, the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser is the only smartphone that have a laser auto-focus. So what does that mean? It means that you could now focus and shoot images faster than most smartphones.

 

When it comes to images, the Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 can’t replace the image quality that you could get on the ASUS Zenfone 2 and other flagship smartphones but it does a pretty good job for its price. The Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 can shoot fast and the images that I took have almost the right colors. It’s not the best but it’s good for its price. Check out the images that I shoot below.

Verdict

ASUS didn’t fail to impress me with their ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0. It’s a really good device for its price and I would highly recommend this smartphone especially if you’re looking for one at its price range. The ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 is now available for P7,295 nationwide.
