Choosing the right gaming headset can be a challenging task, especially when you’re looking for compatibility across multiple devices with various connection options. With options between having a Gaming PC, handheld consoles, and even gaming phones, finding a headset that allows you to seamlessly switch between these platforms while delivering consistent performance is no easy feat. The ASUS ROG Pelta gaming headset stands out by offering versatile connectivity options and strong performance, making it a top contender for gamers who need reliable cross-platform compatibility.

Sound Quality

The ROG Pelta delivers immersive audio with its 50mm neodymium drivers, providing a solid bass, clear mids, and balanced highs that are perfect for gaming and multimedia. While it offers a powerful soundstage, the bass response can be a bit aggressive, making it ideal for action-packed gameplay. Comparing it with its contemporaries such as the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5P, the ROG Pelta will definitely appeal more to users who are looking for a beefier audio experience. Fortunately, if you’re looking for more customizability and flexibility, EQ settings for the headset can be adjusted through ASUS’ Armoury Crate software–crucial if you’re more into laid-back games that might warrant a more neutral and relaxing sound profile.

Design and Comfort

The ROG Pelta is undeniably bold, with its signature ROG RGB lighting and futuristic design that speaks to gamers who enjoy a more dynamic, flashy aesthetic. Its thick, plush ear cushions ensure a comfortable fit during long gaming sessions. While the design of the ROG Pelta can definitely turn heads when you’re using it outdoors, it sports a detachable boom mic that quite looks out of place anywhere other than your game room. We wished ASUS included some sort of cover for the mic jack though, or a recessed, extendable microphone since the headset will have its jack exposed when the boom mic isn’t attached.

Microphone design notwithstanding, the ROG Pelta’s microphone stands out from its competitors for its noise-canceling capabilities, ensuring clear communication even in noisy environments. Voice quality comes out still relatively clearly despite noise cancellation unlike other products touting similar noise cancellation functions.

Ergonomics and battery life

The ROG Pelta is a testament to ASUS’ long-standing user-friendly design language–all controls for the headset can be found on the left earcup, with enough space even for fat fingers to control microphone mute and switch between Bluetooth or 2.4GHz RF connectivity. A volume wheel is also on hand for quick volume adjustments in case a scene on your favorite game starts to get too overwhelming.

The ROG Pelta also ticks the boxes in terms of battery life–from full charge, it survived more than a week of daily game nights lasting upwards of 3 hours, and would definitely last longer with both RGB and microphone turned off; plenty long enough for a gaming headset that almost weighs nothing on the head.

Verdict

If you’re looking for a gaming headset with a bold design, deep bass, and solid performance across multiple devices, the ASUS ROG Pelta is an excellent choice. Retailing at around the PHP 6,000 price mark, the ROG Pelta’s feature-packed offering is definitely worth the slight ROG premium over its competition.
