Palit GeForce RTX 3070 Gaming Pro Review

After NVIDIA’s announcement of the GeForce RTX™ 3070 last September 1st, 2020, we immediately knew that the GeForce RTX™ 3070 would be one of the most sought-after graphics cards. These were originally supposed to have an SRP of around $500 prior to the mining craze which doubled the prices almost instantly which is supposed to perform on-par or better than the GeForce RTX™ 2080Ti.

Palit Microsystems is one of the biggest graphics card manufacturers in the world. With that Palit has released three models of the GeForce RTX™ 3000 series, the Palit Gaming Pro, Palit StormX, and Palit GameRock series. Today, we’ll be taking a quick look at the Palit GeForce RTX™ 3070 Gaming Pro.

Palit has maintained the clock speeds with the GeForce RTX™ 3070 in their Gaming Pro series but with better cooling functions. The Palit Gaming Pro has some advantages over the Founders Edition. Some of which are their bulky heatsink cooled by 3 fans that allow the coolness.

Build:  Palit GeForce RTX™ 3070 Gaming Pro

The physical attributes of the Palit Gaming Pro identify as impressive featuring an aggressive fan shroud design that covers most of the front end. As with most of the GeForce RTX™ 3000 series, this is a pretty long graphics card with a 294mm length which might be a problem for most compact cases. At the same time, the graphics card is 112mm tall and 60mm thick covering 2.7 slots.

The backplate is plastic which mostly black in colour. We appreciate the lack of RGB that Palit has done on this part of the graphics card as with the usual setup, the colours might clash with the other parts of the PC. We see the NVIDIA GeForce RTX™ branding along with the Gaming Pro branding on the backplate.

Real-Time Ray-Tracing

Real-time ray-tracing enables a level of realistic lighting and shading that is never before seen in any game. One of the games that it is possible on is what we are seeing now – Call of Duty : Cold War. Ray-tracing enables the generation of an image by tracing the path of light as pixels and simulating the effects of its encounters with Virtual Objects. With the current games in the market that GeForce RTX™ can be enabled on, we see the difference in lighting, shading and reflections.

As seen in the story mode of COD Cold War, a definite difference is seen with the way things are reflected on the water, the rendering of shadows, and how light falls and projects on virtual objects.

DLSS Boost + NVIDIA Reflex

Though it has added stress on the graphic card load and may cause lowered fps, it enables a more immersive gaming experience for gamers. Additionally, Deep Learning Super Sampling or better known as DLSS boosting the frame rates of the game despite the graphic load enabling decent frame rates despite the additional graphical improvement.

Additionally, NVIDIA enables a new feature all the way back to the GTX 900-series to lower input lag in games like Valorant, Call of Duty, Apex Legends, Fortnite, and other games. This is known as the NVIDIA REFLEX.

To enable it, simply go to the settings and under the video tab and general sub-category, scroll all the way down to find the NVIDIA Reflex Low Latency option. Simply enabling the NVIDIA reflex should minimize the in-game latency but the additional boost to your game’s performance can also be enabled with the additional On+Boost option. Fair warning to those that would utilize this, the GPU clock would be kept high. If you don’t see it, ensure that your NVIDIA drivers are updated to the latest version.

Nevertheless, a significant change in gameplay would be experienced during the next match. The low latency helps land better shots while the boost improves FPS count too. From experience, the reflex increased responsiveness on mouse clicks.

The higher the frame rates have always been a way to win competitive matches. This has been seen as one of the game-deciding factors in most competitive gameplays. With our Call of Duty Cold War gameplay, our settings are placed at maximum graphics with GeForce RTX™-ON and we still get a decent 96 FPS average and now on Valorant, we see a stable 200+ FPS during this match allowing better reaction time when spotting opponents.

NVIDIA has made it possible to win with a frame rate advantage along with their newly added NVIDIA Reflex.

In terms of display ports, there is a standard selection that provides 3 DisplayPort 1.4a and 1 HDMI 2.1 port.

At the time of posting, the Palit GeForce RTX™ 3070 Gaming Pro is priced at  PHP 55300. Availability might be rather scarce at the moment due to limited chips. Almost all stores have the tendency to only have 1 stock.

It may not have factory overclocking but if you’re just after the pure performance and amazing acoustics, this is part of your choices.
