Several reports already revealed that Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) has the fastest mobile network in the Philippines. Now, a report showed that Smart also bagged the most number of mobile data users in the country.
Smart recorded a total of 39.5 million mobile data users by the end of June 2021, up by 6.1 million compared to the same period last year. In comparison, Globe fell short as it recorded 38.6 million mobile data users by the end of June 2021.
In fact, the income coming from mobile data gave Smart a whopping Php35 billion revenue (or a 12% growth) in the first half of 2021. Meanwhile, Globe only posted a 7% growth over the same period.
MORE FILIPINOS CHOOSE SMART FOR ITS SUPERFAST MOBILE NETWORK SPEED
This growth could be attributed to the telco’s effort in providing its subscribers with the fastest mobile network in the country.
Ookla recently named Smart as the country’s fastest mobile network for the fourth consecutive year, based on an analysis of tests taken with Speedtest. Ookla’s latest report also showed that Smart has the fastest 5G network in the Philippines, covering the first half of 2021.
Other significant awards were also given to Smart, as several independent bodies recognized their fastest network.

OPPO Philippines has recently launched the Reno series in the country. It’s the latest mid-range smartphone in the country and it packs some interesting features inside including 5G and also an interesting design. Check out what we think about the smartphone in our review
OPPO Reno 6Z 5G Review: Design and construction
The OPPO Reno 6Z 5G features a sleek and sexy design just like the predecessors of the smartphone but of course, it has some design changes including the texture at the back of the smartphone. It’s not slippery but it’s not rough either. This also means that the smartphone wouldn’t have fingerprint smudges at the back
The curves at the back of the smartphone do help in the grip and also the ergonomics of the smartphone. The size of the smartphone is actually perfect for my hands and it’s already thin and light enough for long hours of playing on the smartphone.
As for the ports, thankfully, the smartphone does come with USB-C port and it supports 30W VOOC Flash Charge 4.0 which is enough for me. As for the headphone jack, it’s still here and they didn’t ditch that feature on the smartphone and it’s placed just beside the USB-C port.
The power button of the smartphone is placed on the right while the volume rocker is placed on the other side. The smartphone also comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner and also face unlock. And it’s fast enough for my usage. And for the speakers, It’s an average one and it’s already enough for listening to music or for watching movies.
OPPO Reno 6Z 5G Review: Display
One of my gripes about the smartphone is it lacks a higher refresh rate. Nonetheless, the smartphone still packs a 6.4-inch display with Full HD+ resolution and it’s an AMOLED panel which is why the colors of the panel is good and pleasing to the eye.
The display is also bright enough for everyday usage and it’s been a breeze using the smartphone outside. Despite being a 60Hz display, OPPO still managed to fit in a 180hz touch sampling rate so you can have a more responsive touch response on the smartphone.
Overall, the OPPO Reno 6Z 5G packs a fine display. It has the colors that I want and it’s responsive enough but unfortunately, the smartphone doesn’t come with a higher refresh rate.
OPPO Reno 6Z 5G Review: Battery life
Inside the smartphone is a 4310mAh battery and it does have long battery life. While we’re having problems running PC Mark 2.0 Battery test on the smartphone, we did enjoy using the smartphone 12 hours straight with not needing a battery.
Overall, the smartphone can last for a single workday without the need for a powerbank or charger. Besides, charging the smartphone is fast enough with ifs 30W VOOC 4.0 Flash Charge.
OPPO Reno 6Z 5G Review: Software and performance
The smartphone comes with ColorOS 11.1 that is based on Android 11 and it was a breeze to use. The smartphone’s UI is fast, responsive and I really had no problems with it as everything was seamless when using it. It’s also user-friendly and the colors and icons were easy to the eye.
This is where the smartphone gets really interesting for me. First, there’s the MediaTek Dimensity 800U processor inside and as for the RAM, there’s the 8GB RAM and also 128GB of internal storage. It’s one of the new MediaTek chips out there and it does perform just fine when playing games. But before that, check out our benchmarks for the smartphone:
Well, the scores that we got is pretty much what we expected from the smartphone and as for the gaming, thankfully, we were able to run Genshin Impact on the smartphone and while it may not be at medium settings, the game was definitely playable at lowest settings. In PUBG Mobile, I was able to play the game at balanced graphics settings with ultra framerates.
OPPO Reno6 Z 5G Review: Camera
The main highlight if Reno smartphones are the camera and the OPPO Reno6 Z 5G features a triple camera setup at the back that consists of 64MP main camera along with 8MP ultrawide and 2MP macro camera. IMO, they should’ve added a telephoto lens on the smartphone.
Nonetheless, it still comes with a lot of features for the camera of the smartphone. Of course, there’s the night mode and for videos, we can record videos at up to 4K on the smartphone. One of the unique features of the smartphone is the Dual-View video in where you can take videos on the rear and selfie camera of the smartphone simultaneously. This is a feature that is great for vloggers. For the camera, check out the shots that we took using the smartphone:

As expected, the rear camera of the smartphone performed well and it has even exceeded my expectations as most of my shots were sharp and the colors were really nice on the smartphone. The selfie camera of the smartphone did a pretty good job too as the skin tones are good and the camera was sharp.
OPPO Reno6 Z 5G Review: Verdict
The OPPO Reno6 Z 5G does offer what the previous Reno smartphones can offer – a pretty and sexy smartphone design and a camera that will definitely impress us but with the OPPO Reno6 Z 5G, we’re also getting 5G this time thanks to the Dimensity 800U processor which performed better than expected. It may not be the best in its price range but it does the job.
So if you’re in the market for a selfie smartphone The OPPO Reno6 Z 5G is now available for Php19,999
The realme Book is expected to be unveiled soon and it’s the company’s first foray into the laptop scene but despite that, the realme Book does pack a clean and sleek design compared to most notebooks in the market right now and it has a premium build quality that we mostly see on expensive notebooks.
The photos of the realme Book clearly show a thin and light profile which is similar to what we’ve reviewed before — the Huawei MateBook X Pro. The notebook comes with a minimalistic design with the realme logo on the lid.
The notebook also comes with an aluminum alloy body with a CNC diamond cutting and precision sandblasting. The realme Book will also come with 2x USB-C port and also a USB-A and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The notebook is said to come with a 14″ display and it will run Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor with 8GB of RAM and it will have Windows 10 inside.
