Vivo has just unveiled its newest smartphone recently — the Vivo S1. It’s fairly priced and it has decent specifications inside. The smartphone is also different from the V15 series which is available right now. So what do I think about the smartphone? Check it out in our review of the smartphone below:
Vivo S1 Review: Design and Hardware
When it comes to design, the Vivo S1 just rock. The review unit that we got comes in Skyline blue and it’s really pleasing to the eye as we got a gradient color at the back of the smartphone but if you want, you can also go for the black one that comes with a pattern at the back of the smartphone.
The smartphone comes with a glossy glass-like back that looks pleasing to the eye and it feels just fine along with the rounded sides. The smartphone does have a fine grip and ergonomics for me and if you ask me, the triple lens camera on the Vivo S1 looks better as it does have a less protruding design compared to the Vivo V15 series and it has a more minimal look.
The Vivo S1 still uses a micro USB port which is a little bit disappointing and then the speaker grill and the headphone jack below the smartphone. And then there’s the power button along with the volume rocker on the right side.
At the back of the smartphone is where you can find the fingerprint scanner and it does its job pretty well because it can easily recognize my fingerprint and it is pretty quick to use.
Vivo S1 Review: Display
There’s a decent size of 6.38-inch Full HD+ display on the smartphone which will do just fine in today’s standards. We’re also seeing here a Super AMOLED Panel that’s why the colors are really fine especially the blacks and of course, we still got here a notch at the top of the smartphone as this one doesn’t have a pop-up elevating camera. The Vivo S1’s colors are good, the contrasts are fine and the viewing angles will do just fine on the smartphone and even when you use it outside, the Vivo S1 will fare really well.
Vivo S1 Review: Battery Life
Inside the smartphone is a 4500mAh battery and in my usage, the smartphone was able to give me a day of usage which isn’t disappointing considering that we got a lot of battery juices on this smartphone. In our PC Mark battery test, we managed to get a score of 10 hours and 48 minutes.
Vivo S1 Review: Software
The interface and the software of the smartphone run on Funtouch OS 9 which is still based on Android 9 Pie. The interface is very user-friendly and there’s no app drawer but it’s easy to use and easy to understand. Just like the previous Vivo smartphones, swiping down will give you the notification window while swiping up from the bottom of the smartphone will give you functionalities and controls for the smartphone and swiping to the right from the left of the homescreen will give you Jovi Smart Scene.
Just like before, the Vivo S1 still comes with pre-installed applications such as the WPS office, Lazada, Opera browser and many more but don’t worry because there’s an ample amount of storage left for the smartphone despite having a lot of pre-installed applications.
Vivo S1 Review: Performance
There’s a MediaTek Helio P65 Octa-Core CPU that is built-in into this device along with 6GB of RAM. That’s a respectable specification for the smartphone and it can handle most of the things that you need on the smartphone whether you want it for casual social media usage and light apps and of course, some gaming. Check out the benchmarks that we got on the smartphone
In gaming, the smartphone is pretty capable enough to run modern games. Again, the smartphone runs on Helio P65 Octa-Core processor along with 6GB of RAM. We were able to play PUBG Mobile on HD settings on the smartphone with a high framerate and we got 30fps on 100% FPS stability.
Vivo S1 Review: Camera
The Vivo S1 packs a triple lens rear camera with a 16MP main camera + 8MP ultrawide angle camera + 2MP depth sensor and the mid-range device proved that the smartphone can do fine shots at well-lit conditions, however, the smartphone does lack in details when shooting at lowlight shots. Check out the shots that we took using the smartphone:

The selfie camera of the smartphone works pretty fine on the smartphone though and actually, the selfie camera of the smartphone is just fine.
Vivo S1 Review: Verdict
The Vivo S1 is a decent mid-range smartphone. We got here a triple-lens rear camera, a decent Helio P65 Octa-Core processor, and a stylish design. The AMOLED display of the smartphone is pretty fine too and if you’re looking for a decent mid-range smartphone then you might want to take a look at this, the Vivo S1.

Apple has updated their best notebook today as they’ve unveiled the 16-inch Macbook Pro. They’ve replaced the 15-inch with this one and we got an almost the same look from before but this time, we get a lot of new features that are ready for professionals including a higher capacity for memory which is now up to 8TB SDD, an AMD Radeon Pro 5500M.
The Macbook Pro 16-inch also features an up to Intel Core i9 Processor and a thicker but better thermals inside. The ESC button has also return on the notebook but we still have the touchbar and also the Touch ID on the notebook. The Macbook Pro 16-inch will also now use a different keyboard as we got a Magic keyboard on this one with scissor switches instead of the butterfly switches which is very problematic.
The starting price? Well, it’s expensive but very reasonable for the hardware that you can get from the notebook.
