Nintendo Switch 2 Price in Canada to Increase to CAD 680 Starting September 1

Nintendo has announced a price revision for the Nintendo Switch 2 system in Canada, with the suggested retail price set to increase from CAD 629.99 to CAD 679.99 beginning September 1, 2026.

According to Nintendo, the price adjustment is due to various changes in market conditions that are expected to continue over the medium to long term. In layman’s term, the prices are increasing because of the memory shortage. (Damn you, AI!)

The company also confirmed that pricing for the current Nintendo Switch system will remain unchanged. Nintendo has acknowledged that price changes can be difficult for customers.

LG 100-inch QNED86 delivers a brighter and more immersive gaming experience

LG Philippines has recently highlighted the gaming capabilities of its 100-inch LG QNED86. It’s one of their best TV made for gaming as it combines a massive display with brighter display, and clear and crisp audio.

One of the biggest advantages of the LG QNED86 for gaming is its brighter QNED panel. In a typical living room setup where there’s a lot of natural light and reflections, the brighter display can drown out those glares which means that you will have less distractions on this.

The TV also features a high refresh rate for gaming and also to make it responsive and fluid. For visuals, the LG QNED86 supports Dynamic QNED Color Pro and Certified 100% Color Volume.

Audio is also a key part of the experience with Dolby Atmos and AI Sound Pro support.  Personally, one of the biggest advantages of gaming on a large and brighter display like the LG QNED86 is how bright the display is and how good the color is which is perfect whether you are using it for watching movies or playing games. In my experience with the QNEDs before, they have one of the brightest panels with an accurate color with it which makes it perfect for your home.

OpenAI AI smartphone may launch earlier in 2027 with custom chip and advance AI features

OpenAI’s rumored AI-focused smartphone could launch earlier than expected, according to new reports by Kuo, the same guy who’s responsible for leaks and predictions regarding Apple products. The device is now said to enter mass production in the first half of 2027.

Previous reports suggested that the OpenAI smartphone would enter mass production in 2028. However, the timeline has reportedly been moved forward to the first half of 2027.

OpenAI smartphone specifications

Early details about the OpenAI smartphone suggest that it will have a strong focus on AI performance and imaging. The device is expected to be powered by a custom MediaTek Dimensity 9600 chipset, built using TSMC’s N2P process. It is also rumored that MediaTek will be the exclusive supplier of the processor.

For AI workloads, the smartphone may include a dual-NPU architecture, designed to handle advanced on-device processing especially with AI. In terms of memory and storage, the device is tipped to use LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 5.0 storage for faster performance and efficiency.

On the security side, the device is rumored to support pKVM and inline hashing, which are designed to improve system-level protection. If development continues as planned, shipments of the OpenAI smartphone could reach up to 30 million units across 2027 and 2028.

Apple removes 256GB Mac mini option, base model now starts at US$799

Apple has discontinued the 256GB storage option for the Mac mini, resulting in a higher starting price for the desktop computer globally. The change means customers need to buy the more expensive 512GB variant which raises the starting price of the device.

Mac mini new starting price and configuration

In the United States, the base Mac mini now starts at $799 while in Canada, it’s priced at $1099. The configuration remains the same which is an M4 chip, 16GB unified memory, and 512GB storage.

The 256GB Mac mini had already been unavailable for purchase prior to its removal from Apple’s configurator. The company has now officially dropped the option, leaving 512GB as the new base storage.

Higher-end Mac mini models with the M4 Pro chip are unaffected, as they already started with a minimum of 512GB storage.

The changes come amid a global memory chip shortage, which has driven up costs for components such as RAM. Apple expects significantly higher memory costs in the near term, which may be influencing its configuration decisions.

The removal of lower-capacity options may be part of broader adjustments as the company manages supply and component availability.

TechLife launches first portable monitor in the Philippines

0

TechLife has entered the portable display market in the Philippines with the launch of the TechLife Portable Monitor 15.6”, marking the brand’s expansion beyond smartphones and smart devices into productivity-focused accessories.

Announced on April 24, the new monitor is designed for users balancing work, entertainment, and creative tasks, as demand for flexible and portable work setups continues to grow. The device combines a compact form factor with universal device compatibility, positioning itself as an option for hybrid workers, students, gamers, and creators who need additional screen space without a permanent desktop setup.

TechLife Targets Portable Productivity With 15.6-inch Full HD Display

At the center of the new device is a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution, designed to provide additional workspace for multitasking, presentations, and content consumption. The panel features slim bezels and wide viewing angles, enabling users to manage multiple windows and applications more efficiently in compact work environments.

The launch reflects a growing shift toward portable multi-screen setups, especially among users who split their time between offices, homes, and shared workspaces.

TechLife said the monitor is built to support everyday workflows, from document editing and virtual meetings to casual gaming and media viewing.

Slim Aluminum Build Designed for Mobility

The TechLife Portable Monitor features an aluminum chassis with a thickness ranging from 5mm to 9mm, making it lightweight and compact enough for travel or on-the-go use. The monitor also includes a magnetic stand cover, replacing conventional kickstand designs with a more integrated support solution.

Its thin profile is intended to fit naturally alongside laptops in tighter spaces such as cafés, co-working spaces, and small desks, where conventional external monitors may be impractical.

As remote and hybrid work setups continue to evolve, portable monitors have become increasingly relevant for users seeking flexible workspace configurations.

Plug-and-Play Compatibility Across Multiple Devices

TechLife’s first portable display supports plug-and-play connectivity with laptops, smartphones, and gaming consoles through USB-C and Mini HDMI ports.

The company said the simplified connection system allows users to switch between devices without lengthy setup procedures, making the monitor suitable for both professional and personal use.

This broader compatibility places the monitor within a growing segment of portable displays that cater to users looking for one device that can support work, gaming, and content viewing across different platforms.

Pricing and Availability in the Philippines

The TechLife Portable Monitor 15.6” is priced at Php7,999 and is available exclusively through online platforms. Each purchase includes a free protective case.

From April 24 to May 7, TechLife is offering launch discounts across major e-commerce channels. With platform vouchers applied, the device can be purchased for as low as:

  • Php6,204 on Shopee
  • Php6,569 on Lazada
  • Php6,423 on TikTok Shop

The launch signals TechLife’s broader push into productivity accessories, as consumer demand shifts toward portable devices that support work, entertainment, and creative tasks in a single ecosystem.
