Nissan officially brings GT-R Nismo in the Philippines

0

Here’s a big surprise for us by Nissan Philippines. The Japanese company’s popular sports car has finally arrived in the country and yes, you guess that right, it’s the GT-R Nismo.

The GT-R Chief Product Specialist Hiroshi Tamura flew to the Philippines just to present this car to the Philippine media. This baby is powered by a 3.8-liter V6 engine with 600 ps of power and 652 Nm of torque.

And of course, the GT-R Nismo comes with NISMO-tuned suspension and NISMO-tuned aerodynamic exterior elements for better stiffness and also to increase the downforce. The GT-R Nismo also features a carbon fiber boot lid, spoiler, lower front undercover and front and rear bumper.

Another thing that I loved with the Nissan GT-R NISMO is the cockpit is racing-inspired. It’s ergonomically designed for comfort and for speed. And for gamers who love Gran Turismo on the PlayStation 4, you’ll be happy to know that the instrument panel is video game-inspired, multi-function display that was created in collaboration with Polyphony Digital, the makers of Gran Turismo.

If you’re rich enough to buy a Nissan GT-R NISMO then better head to Nissan High Performance Center in Quezon Avenue to get one.

Vivo V7 Review

0

Vivo has recently announced the Vivo V7, their latest smartphone that is the smaller brother of their best smartphone. It might be smaller but don’t get fooled, as this one has a very similar hardware to its bigger brother. So what do I think about the smartphone? Check out my unboxing and hands-on of the smartphone below.

Design and Build Quality

I actually like the smartphone over the V7+. Why? There are many reasons why. First, it’s smaller which makes the smartphone ergonomic to the hand. It does have an 18:9 Display Aspect Ratio that’s why despite having a 5.7-inch display, the Vivo V7 feels good to the hand.

The body of the smartphone is still the same. It’s made up of plastic despite having that metallic look and then you can see its antenna bands on the top and bottom of the smartphone. Yes, it does look fine but its plastic build is something that might turn off some people. And at the back, you can see the camera protruding but don’t worry, it doesn’t really move on a flat surface.

Just like the Vivo V7+ , the Vivo V7 didn’t switched to USB Type-C. They still use Micro USB and then we still have the 3.5mm audio jack on the smartphone (Thankfully!). And since the smartphone is smaller than the V7+, reaching the volume button and the power button using one hand is easy.

The simplicity and the beauty of the Vivo V7 just made this smartphone look good to me. It’s ergonomic

The FullView Display

One of the main highlights of this smartphone is its display. The Vivo V7 packs a 5.7-inch display FullView Screen with 18:9 Display Aspect Ratio. Which is smaller than the one on the Vivo V7+ which sports a 5.99-inch display.

The colors are good. It isn’t as pretty as the one on other manufacturers as this one only sports an HD+ resolution but it is sharper than the one on the Vivo V7+. I also think that the display of the Vivo V7 is superior that of the Vivo V7+.

The 18:9 display aspect ratio is a trend this year and again, it just fits perfectly on the Vivo V7. Watching media files, checking out Facebook and Twitter, and even playing games are just fine on the Vivo V7. Most applications and games these days are already optimized for the 18:9 display aspect ratio so yeah, you won’t really have problems with most applications however when watching videos, there will be black bars on the display as most videos available on the internet are on 16:9.

A Hi-Fi Audio Chip inside

One of the best things about having a Vivo smartphone is that they come with a Hi-Fi Audio Chip inside. However, if you’re just using a cheapo earphones then you might not hear the difference. Also, you need a better audio file or lossless file to take advantage of it. Nonetheless, the Vivo V7 has a pretty good audio and if you’re planning to plug in your earphones or headphones, it’s pretty clear and crisp.

A Good Battery Life

The Vivo V7 packs a 3000mAh of battery inside. Since we’re talking about a smartphone with HD+ display, the smartphone doesn’t consume too much battery when you’re using it. The smartphone will actually last more than a day of use depending on your usage and even if you play games, the smartphone can reach a day of use even without the need of a powerbank.

Software, Performance, and Gaming

Just like the Vivo V7+, the Vivo V7 uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset inside along with 4GB of RAM, and then there’s the 32GB of Internal Storage. It’s not that bad and it’s just a fine chipset for mid-range smartphones.

Performance-wise, you won’t have a problem with it if you’re into just light smartphone tasks such as playing some casual MOBA games and apps however if you’re planning on 3D heavy games then don’t expect too much from it. But again, the Vivo V7 can handle most MOBA games just fine.

The Vivo V7 is also running on Android 7.0 Nougat. What I love about the smartphone is that it’s user friendly. You’ll also be greeted with a Tagalog language launcher but no worries, you can change that later. The FunTouch OS 3.2 is fast and clean. It’s actually one of my favorite launcher on Android.

Everything is easy to access as this one has similarities to most UI that are really user friendly. Accessing the settings and its other features isn’t confusing too. There’s shortcut for some functions such as WiFi, Mobile Data, Bluetooth, Flashlight and more but just swiping up. And again, the 18:9 display aspect ratio is just perfect for its OS.

Camera

The Vivo V7 sports a 24-megapixel sensor on its front. It’s one of the smartphones in the market that takes advantage of being a selfie-centric smartphone. Actually, I was surprised that the Vivo V7 performed well than I expected. Yes, it can take good selfies with just the right skin tones. The main reason why I was surprised with the front camera of the Vivo V7 is that the smartphone can take good selfies even at low-light conditions.

Beautication of the smartphone works just well and yes, there’s the portrait mode on the smartphone that lets you have a depth of field on your photos. It might not be perfect but I’m already satisfied with it. But I do hope that Vivo continues to upgrade the camera software of the smartphone in the future.

Check out the shots that I took using the Vivo V7 below.

Verdict

The Vivo V7 is actually my favorite smartphone from the brand. It might be made up of plastic but I really like the ergonomic design of the smartphone. It’s a decent smartphone despite only having an HD+ resolution but because of that, the smartphone was able to have a longer battery life.

The performance of the smartphone isn’t disappointing too as the Vivo V7 can handle most casual games without problems however if you’re planning to play heavy games then better stay away or just set it at the lowest settings.

The camera of the smartphone isn’t disappointing too as it exceeds my expectations and it can take some good shots both on the front and rear camera of the smartphone

The Vivo V7 is now available for Php12,990
