In Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, we now have a remastered HD graphics but yeah, the gameplay is still very similar to the previous games however the graphics have been updated for the PS4 and PS4 Pro.

The game has more than 100 levels that you can explore and again, it’s one of the video game icons back in the 90s but this time, it’s fully remastered that comes with new lighting animation, textures, models, and cinematics. And yes, they have this new thing for graphics called  “N. Hanced Fur-K” for their graphics.

That’s actually a good hardware for a smartphone that is priced at P10,990.

OPPO A57 Review

0

Recently, OPPO Philippines has launched their newest smartphone that is more affordable than the OPPO F3 series and it’s the OPPO A57. The smartphone is set to replace the very popular OPPO F1s. Just like the other OPPO smartphones, the OPPO A57 is also made for selfies as this one packs a 16-megapixel front camera. If you’re looking for a selfie smartphone then you would want to probably want to take a look at my review below.

The same OPPO design

I’m pretty sure that a lot of you have seen an OPPO smartphone and you might have probably noticed that their smartphones look similar to each other and the OPPO A57 isn’t any different from them. It’s actually a good thing as I love the simple design which makes the smartphone look cleaner and better than other smartphones.

The OPPO A57 is purely made up of plastic but despite that, the smartphone feels solid and very comfortable to hold. Since this one is much smaller than the F1s, the OPPO A57 is actually very handy even if you have small hands. The smartphone also comes in different colors – Gold, Rose Gold, and Black but I believe the black color is the best of them all.

The OPPO A57 still utilizes a Micro USB port which is cheaper but not better than the USB Type-C and on the side of the ports is the speaker grills and also the 3.5mm audio jack. The smartphone also packs a fingerprint sensor which is located on the home button. Speaking of home button of the smartphone, it doesn’t really pressed down similar to the OPPO F3 series but doesn’t worry, you can still use it to go to the home button.

One awesome thing about the OPPO A57 is there’s a dedicated microSD card slot for the tray. You can use a micro sim card, a nano sim, and a MicroSD card in a single tray.

Still the same HD Display

There’s a smaller 5.2-inch display on the OPPO A57 compared to the one on the OPPO F3 and the OPPO F1s. OPPO A57’s display isn’t the best one that I’ve seen. The colors are a little bit dull but thankfully, the display is IPS so the viewing angles of the display are pretty good. It’s only HD so it’s not as sharp as the on smartphones with Full HD display.

Using the display outside won’t be a problem as you can clearly see the display even in direct sunlight. But again, it doesn’t have the ideal colors and it’s only HD which is a little bit disappointing.

A Dragon inside

Instead of a MediaTek processor inside the smartphone, the OPPO A57 surprisingly uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 Octa-Core processor and pairing this smartphone with a 3GB of RAM. This smartphone can do really well when it comes to light to mid-gaming and multitasking. However, if you’re planning on playing games that are a little bit taxing then you might want to turn down the settings as this one will have a hard time playing games like NBA 2k17 at high settings. Nonetheless, the smartphone performs pretty well for its hardware and oh, don’t worry. Mobile legends will do just fine on this smartphone.

OPPO A57 still uses Android 6.0 Marshmallow with ColorOS 3.0. Yes, the operating system is a little bit old but what I like about ColorOS 3.0 is that the smartphone’s software is optimized. I didn’t even notice lags or slowdowns in my use. It’s actually pretty good. However, If you’re planning on opening a lot of games and apps simultaneously then that’ll be a different case. But again, on normal usage, the smartphone gets pretty good performance for its price range.

Good battery life

One of the reasons why I like having a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor inside a smartphone is the efficient and amazing battery life. The smartphone packs a 2900mAh battery and at light usage, the smartphone can last more than a day. Yes, I was able to use this smartphone for one and a half day for a little bit of web browsing, Facebook, Instagram and some Overwing. While if you’re planning on playing Everwing the whole day on this smartphone then expect a work day of battery life. Actually, I was not bringing my power bank anymore when I’m using this smartphone.

Solid Selfie Camera

For its price, I didn’t really expect too much from it. It packs a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF and then there’s the 16-megapixel front camera. The rear camera can actually take good photos and I was surprised that this smartphone performs better than I expected even in low light. The selfie camera also performed well as this selfie shooter can perform well even when you’re shooting a selfie at low light.

Overall, I was impressed with its rear and front camera. For its price, the OPPO A57 is a great selfie shooter. It may not be perfect but it performed well over my standards as the smartphone can shoot good shots on both

Verdict

If you’re looking for a selfie smartphone at a budget, the OPPO A57 is a good selfie smartphone for you. It might have a dull display and it might not be the best performer on a smartphone but you’ll surely love the long battery life, a good camera, and the solid construction of the smartphone. I would recommend this smartphone if you’re looking for a selfie shooter at its price range.

The OPPO A57 is now available for P11,990.

Xiaomi Redmi 5 leaks out!

0

A leak of the Xiaomi Redmi 5 has just been outed and yes, it does show its features and also its hardware. The Redmi line is the affordable smartphones series of Xiaomi and the Redmi 5 doesn’t look like that it will disappoint when it comes to specs because the Xiaomi Redmi 5 reportedly will rock a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 or Snapdragon 630 processor.

Xiaomi Redmi 5 Specs

  • 5-inch HD IPS LCD
  • 2.0GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 CPU/3GB RAM/16GB/32GB Storage
  • 2.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 CPU/4GB RAM/64GB Storage
  • 16-megapixel rear camera
  • 5-megapixel front camera
  • 3680mAh battery
  • Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0
  • Android 7.1.1 Nougat with MIUI 9.0

The smartphone has decent specs, however, I would highly recommend getting the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 variant as that one has a newer and better processor compared to the Snapdragon 625 which was a great processor in 2016.

There were no announced dates for the release of the Xiaomi Redmi 5, however, the prices of the smartphone have been leaked too.

  • 3GB/16GB – CNY 859 (Php 6,397~)
  • 3GB/32GB – CNY 1039 (Php 7,737~)
  • 4GB/64GB – CNY 1099 (Php 8,184~)

We’re not even sure if the Xiaomi Redmi 5 will arrive in the Philippines soon but I the expect the smartphone will be available in grey market once it is released in China.

Somebody just bought 3 Acer Predator 21x Notebooks

0

We all thought that spending half a million is ridiculous. But how about spending for three notebooks. Yes, a guy just bought three Acer Predator 21x. Just in case you didn’t know, the Acer Predator 21x is probably the most expensive gaming notebook that you can buy right now as this notebook packs a 21-inch curved display with G-Sync and Tobii Eye tracking technology, Intel Core i7-7820HK processor, 32GB of RAM, Dual GTX 1080 GPU, 512GB SSD, 1TB HDD, and a mechanical keyboard.

I know, it’s ridiculous but yes, it’s true and the buyer just bought three Acer Predator 21x at Robinsons Galleria Octagon.  The price? Well, that’s Php550,000 each and that’s Php1,650,000 overall. The name of the buyer hasn’t been revealed but cmon man. I’m really curious why you have to buy three Acer Predator 21x.

Cherry Mobile Flare P1 Review

0

This year is the year of dual camera smartphones. Smartphones from different brands have now offered a dual camera on the back with different features and functionality. Some of them can be used for zooming, some for wide angle shots, and much more. Well, Cherry Mobile doesn’t want to be left out in the game so they’ve also released the Flare P Series too. Two of them – Flare P1 and Flare P1 Plus, packs a dual lens camera. And today, we’ll review one of them, the Cherry Mobile Flare P1.

Design and Hardware

Look, there’s nothing really to talked about its design as the smartphone packs a simple and very familiar design similar to what we can find from Cherry Mobile smartphones. The smartphone is made up of plastic but that’s what you can get on a smartphone at its price. Nonetheless, the Cherry Mobile Flare P1 has an ergonomic design which feels good to hold in the hand.

But despite its cheap price and a plastic body, there’s no hollow feeling when using the smartphone. It feels solid than I expected which is a plus for this smartphone. At the top of this smartphone is where you can find the headphone jack and also the micro USB port of the smartphone while on the right is the power button and the volume rocker.

The smartphone is a little bit heavy too which adds a little bit of solidness to the smartphone. The Cherry Mobile Flare P1 also packs three capacitive buttons and it doesn’t have backlit buttons.

The Cherry Mobile Flare P1 also has a removable back and you can find the two micro sim card slot and a MicroSD card slot. However, the battery of the Cherry Mobile Flare P1 can’t be removed from the smartphone which is rated at 2350mAh. Oh, and the battery life on the smartphone isn’t amazing. I’m pretty sure that this smartphone will not last in a day of use and you might need to bring your charger or your power bank always with you.

A good display for its price

The Cherry Mobile Flare P1 packs a 5-inch HD display. I’m not saying that the Cherry Mobile Flare P1 has the best display on a smartphone. But for its price range, the Cherry Mobile Flare P1 is actually better than I expected. I was expecting that the display of the smartphone will be washed out but surprisingly it was not. It has a good display for its price as the colors are good however I think that this display doesn’t have the best brightness. But again, the display is quite good for its price.

Not the best performer

The Cherry Mobile Flare P1 doesn’t have the best performance that you can find on a smartphone. It packs a 1.3GHz Quad-Core MediaTek 6580 Processor and only 1GB of RAM. Actually, by just looking at it, you already know that this smartphone is not really made for gaming or for heavy tasks.

For basic apps and light usage, the Cherry Mobile Flare P1 will do just fine, however, multitasking and opening apps simultaneously, you’ll notice that this smartphone will experience some lags. Again, this game isn’t ideal for gaming. Yes, you’ll be able to run games such as Mobile Legends and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas but you have to put it at medium settings to make it playable but expect some slowdown sometimes when playing these games.

It’s running on Nougat

What I love about this smartphone despite having a low specs is that this smartphone was able to run Android 7.0 Nougat. The Cherry Mobile Flare P1 doesn’t have special skins or too many bloats similar to other Cherry Mobile smartphones which are a plus as it avoids lags and slowdowns while navigating on the smartphone. Because again, the smartphone only packs 1GB of RAM which is really small for a 2017 smartphone.

Despite its hardware spec, the Cherry Mobile Flare P1 was still able to do multi-window however it’s not really ideal on the smartphone as this one only packs a small 5-inch display.

The Dual Camera

The Cherry Mobile Flare P1’s biggest selling point is its camera. There’s a dual lens camera at the back and according to Cherry Mobile, you could do bokeh shots thanks to dual lens rear camera. However, In my test, I was not sure if the dual lens camera is the one responsible for the bokeh or blurring.

The blurring of the smartphone is just radial and you could easily notice that when you’re playing with the camera of the smartphone. Anyway, just check out the photos that I took using the smartphone.

Well, the quality? The colors aren’t perfect and it’s a little bit of washed out. The autofocusing of the camera was also slow and the bokeh effect isn’t really the best one. Same with the selfie shots, you could easily notice that the smartphone wasn’t ideal for selfies but hey, there’s a LED flash on the front camera of the smartphone which is nice for taking selfies in the dark.

Verdict

The Cherry Mobile Flare P1 is an affordable smartphone at P3,999. Its biggest selling point is the dual rear camera however in our camera test, we didn’t really have a pleasant experience. The hardware of the smartphone is also top notch but what I like in this smartphone is despite its hardware, Cherry Mobile still managed to have Android 7.0 Nougat in the smartphone.

There are a lot of options at its price range and who do I think will love this smartphone? Well, the Cherry Mobile fans and those who want to try the first dual rear camera smartphone of the brand. There’s nothing really special about this smartphone aside from its affordable price.

The Cherry Mobile smartphone is now available for P3,999.
