The Acer Predator Triton 700 is the latest gaming notebook with Max-Q Design to be launched in the Philippines. The Acer Predator Triton 700 is a thin gaming notebook thanks to its Max-Q Design similar to ASUS ROG Zephyrus and yes, the Acer Predator Triton 700 will also come in two variants — one with GTX 1060 and the other one with a more powerful GTX 1080 GPU.
The good thing about this gaming notebook is despite its thinness, the Acer Predator Triton 700 still managed to have this hardware. Compared to other notebooks, the GTX 1060 inside the Acer Predator Triton isn’t throttled and it will work like the normal GTX 1060 GPUs inside notebooks while the other variant is the GTX 1080 which is throttled down because of its Max-Q Design.
The Triton 700 packs a 15.6-inch Full HD Display and it is powered by the powerful Intel Core i7 Processor inside it. The gaming notebook also comes with either a 16GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM or 32GB DDR-2400MHz RAM and a 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD or 512GB+512GB PCIe NVMe SSD.
The gaming notebook might look weird to you because of the lack of trackpad on the side or below the keyboard well, it’s because the Acer Predator Triton 700 packs a Gorilla Glass on the front of the keyboard which also serves as the touchpad of the notebook.
The notebook is thin as this one sports an 18.9mm height but despite that, the notebook still managed to have a mechanical keyboard with RGB backlit that you can customize.
The Acer Predator Triton 700 comes in two models. The cheaper one is Php 134,999 which will come with a GTX 1060 GPU and it will come with a free Predator Cestus 500 mouse and Php 3,000 worth of Stream credits while the Acer Predator Triton 700 with GTX 1080 is priced at Php 222,999 and it will come with a Predator Cestus 500 mouse, Predator Galea 500 gaming headset, and a PHP 5,000 worth of Steam credits.
You can now pre-order the Acer Predator Triton 700 at Octagon, PC Corner, PC Express and Villman.
Some of Star Magic talents have already been seen rocking the OPPO F5 for a few days and Julia Barretto’s latest Instagram photo just confirmed that the smartphone would have a taller 18:9 display and also a bezel-less display similar to most smartphones being introduced this year. There are also ads that are already up at SM Megamall showing the back of the OPPO F5.
We don’t have details regarding the hardware inside the OPPO F5 but we can expect the OPPO F5 to be released this October 26 according to an Instagram post of Robi Domingo.
Vivo Philippines just managed to sell 5000 plus pre-orders for their latest smartphone with a 5.99-inch FullView Display with thin bezels. The smartphone is also the fastest-selling smartphone to date by the company with more than 5,000 pre-orders.
The smartphone doesn’t just have a beautiful FullView Display but it also packs a 24-megapixel front facing camera that is made for selfies that also comes with LED Flash and also smart algorithms which can produce better looking photos.
The Vivo V7+ can now be pre-ordered at Lazada Philippines, Argomall and also at Vivo concept stores and kiosks nationwide for only Php17,990.
HMD Philippines has launched their newest flagship smartphone in the country, the Nokia 8. The smartphone is their real flagship smartphone that can compete with most flagship smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S8, LG G6, & iPhone 7 Plus as the Nokia 8 features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor inside along with 4GB of RAM and also a dual lens camera.
Unlike most smartphones, the Nokia 8 doesn’t have a borderless display however you gotta appreciate with how Nokia build the smartphone as this one is solid with a metal build and it is very comfortable to use.
There’s only a 5.3-inch display on the smartphone but it does have a Quad HD resolution which is crisp and looks better than most smartphones.
The camera of the smartphone also exceeded my expectations. The Nokia has a dual-lens camera with one of them packs a monochromatic lens similar to the implementation of Huawei. And yes, the smartphone can take good shots and also bokeh shots thanks to its dual lens camera. Oh and I almost forgot, the Carl Zeiss Lens that we love on Nokia smartphones is here on the Nokia 8.
Another cool feature of the Nokia 8 is the ability to do bothies. Yes, bothies. That’s what they call it. It’s a feature that lets you take photos and also videos simultaneously and not just that, you can also use the camera application to do live streaming with bothies.
The best part of the Nokia 8 is its price. Well, this flagship smartphone is one of the most affordable as it is priced at Php29,990.
The Samsung Galaxy Note8 is definitely one of the best smartphones that Samsung has ever created. Yes, we all remember the blunder of Samsung Galaxy Note7. The current generation of Galaxy Note8 is the biggest Galaxy Note ever and just like the Galaxy S8, it now features a big design change and of course more refined and better features than its smaller flagship brothers. So what do I think about Samsung’s best flagship smartphone to date? Check out our review of the smartphone below
Like the Galaxy S8 but even more solid
The Samsung Galaxy Note8 is a solid smartphone. Is the design very similar to the Galaxy S8 and the Samsung Galaxy Note8? It’s premium and the best smartphone that Samsung has ever made. It has a chunkier build as the Galaxy Note8 features a more squarish design but the smartphone is still ergonomic despite its size because of its curved and an almost bezel-less design.
Holding the smartphone isn’t a problem. Whether you’re holding the smartphone in portrait or landscape, the Galaxy Note8 is comfortable to use despite its infinity display that features a curved glass with a very thin bezel.
The best thing that Samsung has to offer over the new iPhones is the Audio jack. Yes, Samsung has chosen not to ditch the audio jack. Also, Samsung has included AKG earphones out of the box which is, by the way, has an amazing performance.
The Galaxy Note8 also features a dedicated hardware button just for Bixby which is placed on the left side of the smartphone just below the volume rocker while the power button of the smartphone is on the right. To remove the S-Pen from the smartphone, all you need to is to press it down then you can easily slide and remove the S-Pen.
One of the things that I don’t really like with the Samsung Galaxy S8 is the placement of the fingerprint scanner however, Samsung decided to still place the fingerprint scanner of the smartphone just beside the camera which smudges the camera of the Galaxy Note8 easily.
The speakers of the Galaxy Note 8 is amazing. It’s great and one of my favorites, however, I still prefer the stereo speaker of the iPhone 8 Plus. Regarding connectivity, I didn’t have any problems with calls, texts, and the LTE is fast. The GPS was on point too and I’m really happy about it.
Amazing Big Display
Last year’s Galaxy Note7 display is already good. The Galaxy Note8? It’s great. And yes, the Samsung Galaxy Note8 has the best display that you can find on a smartphone. I love it. The colors are good and the quality of the display is just the best. Watching videos on this one might not be ideal because of it’s 18.5:9 display aspect ratio which means that the smartphone is taller and narrower even compared to other new smartphones.
Whether you’re using your smartphone outside or in a bright condition, the display of the Samsung Galaxy Note8 is great. It’s amazing and it is really the best among smartphones. For S-Pen users, it might be a little odd when drawing or sketching on the GalaxyNote8 as this one has a curved display, it’s a little bit weird to draw or sketch on the edges of the display.
But overall, the display of the Samsung Galaxy Note8 is really damn great.
Powerful Exynos processor inside
Inside the Samsung, Galaxy Note8 is an Exynos processor inside along with 6GB of RAM. And yes, you don’t have to ask me regarding its power as the smartphone is powerful AF. You can run any games and applications on this smartphone without any problem.
Yes, the smartphone still uses the same TouchWiz UI being used in other smartphones. If you’ve used the Samsung Galaxy S8 before, it’s basically the same processor but this time we got a bigger RAM which means that the smartphone can handle more applications and games simultaneously which is a good thing. Yes, surprisingly, I didn’t experience lags and crashes on the Samsung Galaxy Note8 which of course is a good thing.Galaxy S8 before, TouchWiz UI being used in other smartphones.
There are also some features that are exclusive to the Samsung GalaxyNote8 like the Live message which lets you create live drawings and scribbles which is really helpful when making plans, directions, and some cute stuff that you can post on Facebook or Instagram.
The S-Pen is solid. It’s easy to use and the pen is just accurate whatever you want to use it for. It’s really great for productivity especially for annotations and also for just scribbling ideas. It’s also easier for highlighting texts on Office applications and also on web pages thanks to the S-Pen. The S-Pen really helps in increasing my productivity whenever I’m using the Galaxy Note8.
The Camera is AWESOME
I was blown away by the camera of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and with the Galaxy Note8?It’s amazingly good great. This is also the first Samsung smartphone to sport a Dual-lens camera and just like the iPhone, the camera of the Galaxy Note8 can do 2x zooming. Oh and the quality? It’s really great. Actually, I’ve used the smartphone for taking product shots instead of my DSLR. Check out the shots that I took using the smartphone.
In my recent trip to Japan, I didn’t bother to use my Sony A5000 as the Galaxy Note8 can perform really better. The live focus mode of the Galaxy Note8 can do really well however, there are some cases in where the bokeh and its edges don’t do its job well as the edges aren’t right and the blurring wasn’t that good. But overall, the camera of the Galaxy Note8 is just amazing. Well, you just saw its sample shots and I’m pretty sure you’re amazed at it.

Verdict
The Samsung Galaxy Note8 is probably the best Android smartphone that you can get right now. It has a great camera, amazing performance, and a really beautiful and premium design. Yes, the smartphone might be expensive but it’s the best smartphone that Samsung Android has to offer, also, you gotta love the S-Pen of the smartphone and yes, there’s headphone jack.
We were able to have a hands-on of the first Ryzen-powered notebook in the world, the ASUS ROG GL702ZC. We first saw this laptop back in Computex and I was really excited about it as the ASUS ROG GL702ZC is the first Ryzen-powered notebook in the world. So what do I think about the world’s first Ryzen powered notebook? Check out our hands-on below.
The laptop is chunky but that’s already expected since this notebook packs a desktop-class processor inside. Not only that, it’s also heavy and large since we’re talking about a 17-inch notebook over here. If you’re planning to bring this notebook wherever you go, be sure that your backpack and back can really handle this thing.
Again, the notebook packs an AMD Ryzen 7 1700 octa-core processor inside with 16 threads. The notebook is amazingly powerful and it is specially made for people who want to have a powerful notebook that is made for heavy processing and rendering like video editing and other applications that optimizes and maximises multi-core systems.
The design and feel of the ASUS ROG GL702ZC don’t feel the same with the new generation ROG notebooks. The Ryzen-powered laptop actually feels like from the previous generation as this one packs only a LED-backlit keyboard with only the red color. Unfortunately, the RGB fans won’t be happy with this notebook.
The keyboard is not shallow and tactile feel was just fine, however, I felt that the touchpad of the notebook is too small for my use.
Since this one is powered by AMD Ryzen, it comes with a pretty powerful processing power with 65W TDP. I know, it’s pretty powerful but it’s also power-hungry. Along with that AMD processor, is the AMD Radeon RX580 GPU that supports VR. However, we weren’t able to try it out or benchmarked the laptop. But yeah, it’s pretty powerful.
The ASUS ROG GL702ZC is a powerful laptop and I’m pretty sure that consumers who love to edit videos & use applications that optimises its multi-core processor would really appreciate the hardware. Yes, it’s chunky and heavy but the ASUS ROG GL702ZC is a pretty powerful notebook
ASUS ROG GL702ZC comes in two variants — Ryzen 5 1600 & Ryzen 7 1700 and it is priced at Php 84,995 & Php99,995 respectively. You can now pre-order at rog-masters.ph
ASUS has just launched the first octa-core notebook powered by AMD Ryzen processor, the ASUS ROG GL702ZC. The notebook might look like the same with other ROG notebooks but this one is unique as this one packs a desktop class Ryzen processor inside.

It’s our first time at Tokyo Game Show and we were just amazed at how big TGS is. The convention hall was big and it took two buildings for and more than 10 halls for this big event. Halls 1 to 8 is filled for the big game publishers while halls 9-11 are for the merchandise and the indies. But what are the interesting booths at the Tokyo Game Show? Let’s check em’ out.
Resident Evil/Biohazard
Resident Evil 7 or Biohazard 7 in Japan is still big despite its launch a few months ago. Why? Because a DLC is coming later this year. The cool part in their booth is that you’ll be able to try out some Airguns and shoot those zombies. If you’ve played the game, you’ll also be able to see where the real Albert-01 and Not A Hero DLC’s Thor’s Hammer
Monster Hunter World
Monster Hunter world got their own booth at TGS 2017 and god damn, the dragon was so big in their booth and the details are so fine. Inside the booth is soooooo good too and there are demos of Monster Hunter World inside. Unfortunately, the lines were too long and I wasn’t able to try it out.
Square Enix
The booth of Square Enix is pretty big. They have their own booth for Final Fantasy XV in where you can get items from the Gachapon. Yep, I actually got a shirt and also a keychain from them. Not just that, there’s also a demo for Final Fantasy Dissidia NT for the PS4 and also Final Fantasy XV: Comrades. The best thing in the booth? The Lunafreya-themed PC.
Sega/Atlus
One of the largest booths at Tokyo Game Show 2017 is from Sega and Atlus. Well, their games aren’t really popular in the western market but they do have a noticeable presence at Tokyo Game Show 2017. Some of their biggest games in the booth are Yakuza: Kiwami 2, Sonic Forces, Shin Megami Tensei: Deep Strange Journey and more.
Playstation
It’s probably the biggest booth in Tokyo Game Show every year. The PlayStation booth at TGS is so big since there are a lot of games that are coming to the PS4 including Detroit: Become Human, Gran Turismo Sport, and more. But damn, the booth is so big that despite Monster Hunter World having their own booth at TGS 2017, they still have a space for the Playstation booth.
Not only that, there are also other games that are made for Playstation VR including Skyrim VR, Monster of the Deep: FFXV, Bravo Team, and the Inpatient. We only got to try some of their games because the lines are really long But yeah, the Playstation got the best of em’ all.
Bonus: Twitch
Twitch has their own booth at TGS 2017 and it’s big! But unlike the other booths, Twitch is a unique one as Twitch partners are the ones that can go inside their booth and stream on their powerful hardware inside. The live video of the streamers there can play and their stream can also be seen outside the booth. Really awesome. Aside from that, the H1Z1 booth is just beside them in where the highest scorer will win a trip to Twitchcon. Awesome.
Our TGS 2017 Coverage is co-sponsored by PLDT Home Fibr and Smart World.
Looks like we got a first glimpse of the OPPO F5 at some of the talents of ABS-CBN. We don’t have any details regarding the hardware inside the OPPO F5 but what I’m sure of is that the smartphone packs a fingerprint scanner at the back and probably ditching the capacitive buttons on the front in favor of the on-screen buttons. The smartphone also looks narrower which suggests that the smartphone might have an 18:9 display. Hopefully, it would be a borderless display too.
Looks like another smartphone company has joined the borderless race as Gionee has just unveiled the Gionee M7. Just like most flagship smartphones this year, the Gionee M7 packs an 18:9 display with thin bezels and it also packs a dual camera. The smartphone is also the first one to be equipped with the latest MediaTek Helio P30 chipset. There’s also a 6GB of RAM and also 64GB of Storage
