Huawei’s Latest MateBook X Is Only 1kg With A Pressure Sensitive Touchpad

Huawei’s MateBook line is getting a lot of attention from consumers and fans as the brand continues to roll out devices. Huawei’s streak doesn’t end as the latest Matebook X is announced featuring a slightly altered design, and an upgraded pressure-sensitive touchpad. While it still resembles the same design language as the Matebook Pro, one of the major differences is the new Huawei MateBook X weighs only 1kg versus the X Pro’s 1.33kg weight.

The new Matebook X’s display is now only 13″ instead of the previous 13.9″ but it still manages to retain the 3000 x 2000 resolution as well as maintaining the comfortable 3:2 aspect ratio. Huawei “promises” 100% sRGB color gamut coverage and up to 400 nits of brightness for the latest Matebook X. The 90% screen-to-body ratio 13″ display is touch-supported.

Configurations for the Huawei Matebook X uses either an Intel Core i5-10210U or a Core i7-10510 CPU paired with either 8GB or 16GB memory. Both CPU and memory configurations are limited to a 512GB NVMe SSD. While Huawei is able to retain the same resolution despite the smaller form factor, it isn’t the case for the gimped 42Wh battery.

The highlight of the latest Huawei MateBook X is its new touchpad that supposedly rivals Apple’s Force Touch touchpad found on its Macbooks. The new touchpad can recognize different pressure levels with a haptic feedback mechanism that feels like a press of a real button.

The Matebook X comes in Emerald Green, Space Gray, Mystic Silver, and a Rose Gold-like color. Pre-orders have already started in China with the Core i5 8GB/512GB version for Php 56,307(CNY 7,999), Core i5 16GB/512GB at Php 63,346(8,999), and Core i7 16GB/512GB configurations costs Php 70,386(CNY 9,999).
