Samsung has announced the Galaxy Z Fold8, a new addition to its foldable smartphone lineup designed for users who prioritize immersive viewing, reading, gaming, and multitasking.
Introduced alongside the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip8, the Galaxy Z Fold8 features redesigned display proportions, a lighter build, Galaxy AI experiences optimized for foldables, and the latest Snapdragon flagship processor. The device is available for pre-order in the Philippines starting July 22, with prices beginning at Php109,990.

Designed for immersive viewing and everyday use
Samsung said the Galaxy Z Fold8 introduces a new foldable experience built around how users naturally browse, read, stream videos, and play games throughout the day.
The device features a 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and Vision Booster technology.
Meanwhile, the 5.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X cover display is designed to provide a familiar smartphone experience for quick tasks such as messaging, browsing, social media, and short-form video viewing.
According to Samsung, the Galaxy Z Fold8 weighs 201 grams, making it the lightest Galaxy Z Fold smartphone the company has released.
The company also said the display is capable of delivering up to 3,000 nits of brightness and features a low-reflection finish to improve outdoor visibility.

Flex Titanium supports slimmer and more durable design
Like the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, the Galaxy Z Fold8 incorporates Samsung’s new Flex Titanium display structure.
Samsung said the titanium-based construction combines a titanium-alloy film with an enhanced titanium plate to improve display support, absorb pressure and impact, reduce crease visibility over time, and provide a smoother unfolding experience while enabling a thinner foldable design.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and 4,800mAh battery
The Galaxy Z Fold8 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy.
It is available with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and offers 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of internal storage.
The smartphone is equipped with a 4,800mAh dual battery and supports 45W wired charging, 20W fast wireless charging, and Wireless PowerShare.
Samsung said the combination of the Snapdragon processor and the 4,800mAh battery is designed to deliver smooth performance for multitasking, gaming, and extended content consumption.

Dual 50MP cameras and new recording features
The Galaxy Z Fold8 is equipped with a dual rear camera system that includes:
- 50MP wide-angle camera
- 50MP ultra-wide camera
For selfies and video calls, the device features a 10MP cover camera and a 10MP camera on the main display.
Samsung claims that the dual 50MP camera setup can deliver consistent high-resolution detail across both wide and ultra-wide perspectives.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 also introduces several camera features, including Dual Recording, which allows users to capture footage from both sides of the device while previewing themselves on the cover screen, and My FanCam, which automatically tracks a selected subject and reframes videos into a preferred aspect ratio for social media sharing.
Galaxy AI optimized for foldable multitasking
The Galaxy Z Fold8 ships with Android 17 and One UI 9, bringing Samsung’s latest Galaxy AI experiences optimized for larger foldable displays.
According to Samsung, Galaxy AI makes multitasking easier on the Fold8’s larger screen by enabling users to work across multiple applications more efficiently.
The device also supports Gemini Intelligence, allowing users to complete tasks across apps using natural language requests. Through Gemini Notebook, users can organize notes, images, recordings, files, and documents in a persistent workspace, while drag-and-drop support in Split View enables AI-generated reports, summaries, and other productivity tools.
Other AI features include Now Brief, which provides personalized daily insights and recommendations, and Now Nudge, which surfaces contextual suggestions based on conversations, helping users quickly perform follow-up actions such as checking schedules or saving locations.

Security and software enhancements
Samsung said the Galaxy Z Fold8 includes several privacy and security technologies designed to support AI-powered experiences.
These include Samsung Knox, Knox Vault, Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP), and the Personal Data Engine, which enables on-device personalization while helping protect user data.
One UI 9 also introduces an AI Assistant Activity dashboard, allowing users to review AI-generated actions in one place, while new Privacy Alerts notify users of potential privacy risks related to background permissions.
Includes six months of Google AI Pro
Samsung said buyers of the Galaxy Z Fold8 will receive a six-month trial of Google AI Pro, which includes 5TB of cloud capacity.
The company also updated Smart Switch, allowing iPhone users to transfer data wirelessly by scanning a QR code without installing additional applications. Meanwhile, Quick Share introduces new compatibility with AirDrop to make file sharing between Galaxy and iOS devices more seamless.
With redesigned display proportions, a lighter build, dual 50MP cameras, and Galaxy AI experiences optimized for larger screens, the Galaxy Z Fold8 expands Samsung’s foldable smartphone lineup with a device focused on immersive entertainment and everyday productivity.
