Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, its latest flagship foldable smartphone that brings the company’s Ultra branding to the Galaxy Z Fold lineup.

Announced alongside the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra features a larger display, an upgraded camera system, Galaxy AI experiences optimized for foldables, and a slimmer design. The device is available for pre-order in the Philippines starting July 22, with prices beginning at Php123,990.

8-inch display in Samsung’s slimmest Galaxy Z Fold design

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra features an 8-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and Vision Booster technology. The cover display measures 6.5 inches and also uses a Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate.

Samsung said the device measures 4.1mm when unfolded and 8.9mm when folded, while weighing 215 grams, making it the company’s slimmest Galaxy Z Fold design to date.

The company also introduced Flex Titanium, a new titanium-based display structure that combines a titanium-alloy film with an enhanced titanium plate. According to Samsung, the design helps improve durability, strengthen display support, reduce crease visibility over time, and provide a smoother unfolding experience.

Samsung also said the main display delivers up to 3,000 nits of brightness and features a low-reflection finish to improve outdoor visibility.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 powers the Fold8 Ultra

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy.

It is available with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and offers 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of internal storage.

The device is equipped with a 5,000mAh dual battery and supports 45W wired charging, 20W fast wireless charging, and Wireless PowerShare.

Samsung said the Fold8 Ultra also introduces a dual-path charging architecture designed to distribute power more efficiently for faster and more stable charging. Meanwhile, an expanded graphite cooling structure is intended to improve thermal conductivity during demanding workloads such as multitasking, content creation, and AI-assisted tasks.

200MP camera system designed for content creation

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is equipped with a triple rear camera system consisting of:

  • 200MP wide-angle camera
  • 50MP ultra-wide camera
  • 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom

For selfies and video calls, the device includes a 10MP cover camera and a 10MP camera on the main display.

According to Samsung, the 200MP main camera now supports High Dynamic Range (HDR) in 200MP mode, while the new 50MP ultra-wide camera is designed to deliver greater detail for landscapes, interiors, macro photography, and group shots.

The company also highlighted improvements to Nightography, as well as support for 8K video recording using the new APV codec and Cine LUT, which enables users to apply cinematic color and tone adjustments directly on the device.

Galaxy AI optimized for larger foldable displays

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra runs Android 17 with One UI 9 and introduces Samsung’s latest Galaxy AI experiences optimized for foldable devices.

Galaxy AI enhances multitasking on the larger display, while Gemini Intelligence enables users to complete tasks across multiple apps using natural language prompts.

Other AI features include Now Brief, which provides personalized insights and recommendations throughout the day, and Now Nudge, which surfaces suggested next steps based on conversations, such as checking schedules, finding locations, or saving information.

Samsung also introduced Gemini Notebook, allowing users to organize notes, files, recordings, documents, and images in a persistent workspace. With drag-and-drop support in Split View, users can combine multiple files and generate reports, meeting recaps, visual summaries, and other AI-assisted content.

Security features built around AI experiences

Samsung said the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra incorporates several privacy and security technologies to support on-device AI processing.

These include Samsung Knox, Knox Vault, Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP), and the Personal Data Engine, which enables personalized AI experiences while helping secure user information.

One UI 9 also introduces an AI Assistant Activity dashboard, allowing users to review AI-generated actions from a centralized interface. Meanwhile, new Privacy Alerts notify users of potential privacy risks, including unnecessary background permission requests.

Includes six months of Google AI Pro

Samsung said customers purchasing the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra will receive a six-month trial of Google AI Pro, which includes 5TB of cloud capacity.

The company also announced updates to Smart Switch, allowing iPhone users to transfer data wirelessly by scanning a QR code without installing additional applications. Meanwhile, Quick Share introduces new compatibility with AirDrop to make file sharing between Galaxy and iOS devices more seamless.

With its larger display, upgraded camera system, slimmer design, and Galaxy AI features tailored for productivity and content creation, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra expands Samsung’s premium foldable smartphone lineup for users seeking a larger mobile workspace.
