Spotted: realme Pad and realme 8i now certified at NTC

We just spotted two new products from realme that hasn’t been released yet in the country and these are the realme Pad and the realme 8i. The realme Pad is the first tablet from the company while the realme 8i is another addition to the realme 8 series and it packs a Helio G96 processor inside along with 120Hz display.

The realme Pad with a model name of RMP2102 was just certified by NTC last July 29 and it will feature LTE just like the Indian variant. In case you’re not familiar with the tablet, it features a 10.4″ display along with Helio G80 processor which means that the tablet is meant for multimedia usage, casual gaming, and productivity.

While the realme 8i is one of their latest mid-range smartphones to come with Helio G96 processor along with a 50MP triple-lens rear camera along with 120Hz ultra smooth display. The realme 8i was certified by NTC last August 5 with a model name RMX3151

So what does this mean? It just means that realme Philippines has just applied a certification for these devices and it means that there’s a big possibility that these devices will launch in the country very soon.

Nintendo Switch OLED model now available at Datablitz!

Datablitz has just announced that the Nintendo Switch OLED model is now available at DataBlitz branches and also at their e-commerce sites.

The new Nintendo Switch OLED model offers a 7-inch OLED display that features better colors and a larger display compared to the original Nintendo Switch but not just that because the new Switch model also comes with a new adjustable stand, a dock with wired LAN port, 64GB of internal storage and an enhanced audio inside.

Basically, the new Nintendo Switch OLED model offers an incremental upgrade from the predecessor but it will still run the same games as before.

The Nintendo Switch OLED model at Datablitz will only be available with two games bundle for Php24,995. It will be available in White and Neon colors.

PLDT, Smart urge communicators to maximize data and technology

PLDT, Inc. (PLDT) and Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) — together with PayMaya — joined Cebu Press Freedom Week 2021 to empower communicators with data knowledge and technology.

As it partnered with SunStar Cebu’s 15th Reaching Out to Future Journalists Forum, over a hundred journalism and communication students, professors, and practicing communicators learned valuable insights from PLDT and Smart about how they can use data and technology in new media reporting.

TAKING ADVANTAGE OF DATA ANALYSIS

During the forum, Max Limpag, journalist and co-founder of InnoPub Media, encouraged the participants to use data in enriching their reporting. He also shared that vast knowledge on data appreciation and processing are vital ingredients of reporting to become better journalists.

Limpag also enumerated digital tools that are useful for journalists, including tools for text editing, personal database, and transcribing.

Meanwhile, Manila Bulletin Tech Editor Wilson Chua told the participants that data analysis is easy and fun to do. He also explained that insights must be generated via patterns, charts, and visuals.

In addition, Chua shared how network graph analysis helps pinpoint areas where the virus may originate the spread, allowing authorities to control borders and prioritize strategic areas.

IMPACT OF NEW TECHNOLOGY ON THE NEWSROOM

The speakers also discussed the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on journalism. They acclaimed that AI improves journalists by upgrading their vital functions, such as analytics, deep reporting, and interviewing people.

“The person who will succeed is not the person who is worried about AI, but the person who can embrace and work with it and come up with a better service or skill set. Our world is now increasingly becoming complex, and simple solutions do not exist. What we need is a collaboration with other people, the community, and the technology,” Chua said.

Meanwhile, PLDT and Smart have been supporting this annual celebration for the past two decades now.
