Apple has finally announced that their next event will take place this October 13, 2020 and just like their previous events, it will be an online-only event. Apple has already sent out invites to different content creators including MKBHD.
The invite says that it’s a special Apple event from Apple Park and we can watch it at apple.com. The only also says “Hi, Speed” which might suggest that there’s a big performance upgrade on the new iPhones or it might be referring to the 5G speeds of the new iPhones. We can also expect the unveiling of the new Macs with Apple Silicon inside.
The Apple event will take place this October 14 1:00AM Philippine time.

If you’re looking for a 5G smartphone that won’t break the bank then you might wanna check out this review, the Huawei Nova 7 SE. It’s currently the country’s most affordable 5G smartphone but despite that, the smartphone still didn’t cut corners when it comes to different aspects. Check out our review below:
Huawei Nova 7 SE Review: Design and Hardware
It might be a mid-range smartphone but don’t get too confused with that as we’re getting here a curved glass back that feels really premium and it can go head to head with some of the flagship smartphones out there. The one that we got comes in Space Silver and boy, it was nice.
As for the ergonomics, the curves of the smartphone are just perfect for my hand and I didn’t have any problems with it. And again, Space Silver colorway of the smartphone is just too beautiful to look at along with its mirror finish and violet hue at the back. But of course, since this one is glossy, it attracts a lot of fingerprint smudges but there’s a high probability that you will also use a case for this one like me.
As for the camera module of the smartphone, it’s a nice place at the upper left of the smartphone with a vertical layout and it does look clean. Speaking of clean, the back of the smartphone does look clean because the fingerprint scanner of the smartphone is located at the power button of the smartphone so, sorry, no in-display fingerprint scanner here but it’s never a problem for me.
Thankfully, we got here a USB-C port that supports 40W Huawei SuperCharge which is why I can fully charge this smartphone immediately and then there’s the headphone jack too which is a plus for me.
Huawei Nova 7 SE 5G Review: Display
The smartphone features a 6.5-inch IPS display and it does have a sharp and colorful panel in here. It features a great color accuracy along with the viewing angles. Using the smartphone outside isn’t a problem too but it is still a no match to an AMOLED display.
There’s the punch-hole cutout at the upper left of the smartphone and thankfully, it doesn’t block too much of the contents of the display. Overall, it’s still a nice display despite being IPS display only and it can definitely match up with most displays in its price range. Too bad, there’s no high refresh rate on this one though.
Huawei Nova 7 SE 5G Review: Battery life
As for the battery, the Huawei Nova 7 SE 5G comes with 4000mAh battery and in our previous benchmarks, we have seen that the Kirin processors doesn’t fail to amaze us when it comes to battery efficiency and with the Huawei Nova 7 SE 5G, we got a high score of 18 hours and 4 minutes on PC Mark which is one of the best that we’ve ever reviewed despite having only 4000mAh battery inside.
Huawei Nova 7 SE 5G Review: Software
It’s still running on EMUI 10.1 based on Android 10 and it’s clean and sleek as expected. We got here a home screen that’s easy and pleasing to the eyes and we still got here the basic pre-installed Huawei applications. Swiping to the right from the home screen will give you Huawei Assistant and it gives you the search bar for your apps and the feed for news.
As for the applications, there’s no Google Mobile Services in here so you have to rely on the Huawei AppGallery. In my case, I’ve been using the smartphone with the Petal Search Widget for my different applications and also tap.io for my games. I just sideload most of the apps that are not available on the AppGallery so it isn’t really a problem for me.
Huawei Nova 7 SE 5G Review: Performance
When it comes to performance, the Huawei Nova 7 SE 5G comes with a Kirin 820 chipset and it’s a pretty powerful chipset as this one can compete with some of the last year’s flagship chipset. In our benchmarks, the Kirin 820 really showed that the smartphone was great in terms of performance.
When it comes to gaming, the Huawei Nova 7 SE 5G was great too, we played different games such as PUBG Mobile, Call of Duty Mobile, and Black Desert Mobile and all of them were a piece of cake for the chipset of the smartphone. Check out the benchmarks that we got on the smartphone:
One of its main selling points is 5G and if you’re in an area with 5G then you’ll be happy to know that the smartphone supports the ultra-fast 5G speeds. With 5G, you’ll be able to have an internet speed of up to more than 400Mbps in my experience but of course, 5G coverage is still limited in some areas and depending on the network that you’re using right now.
Huawei Nova 7 SE 5G Review: Camera
The smartphone comes with a quad-camera setup with the 64MP camera as the primary one and then there’s the 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP depth, and a 2MP macro camera while on the front, we got here a 16MP selfie camera and in my usage, it was a fine camera that we got here.
They were good, detailed and the dynamic range of the smartphone’s camera works just fine but I notice that the skin tones are a little bit oversaturated sometimes. The selfies are just fine but it’s not the sharpest one in its price range.
Nonetheless, it was still a fine camera for its price. Check out some of the shots that I took using the smartphone:

Huawei Nova 7 SE 5G Review: Verdict
The Huawei Nova 7 SE 5G is a decent smartphone in every aspect. We got here an excellent design and build quality, we got a long battery life and the camera works just fine. I really didn’t have any problems with the apps as the petal search widget and Tap.IO worked just fine with me. Not only that, but we also got here 5G inside which lets us have really fast internet.
The Huawei Nova 7 SE 5G is now available in the market for Php17,999

A few weeks ago, Samsung Philippines has finally launched the Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra in the country and we’re getting here top-notch specifications including the large 6.9-inch WQHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate. There’s an upgrade too when it comes to the S-Pen as we now have a better latency so writing on the phone’s display feels more natural.
The smartphone also comes with an upgrade on the camera as we now have a quad-camera setup with a 108MP main camera that is capable of 50x zoom. In the Philippines, we’re getting the Exynos 990 variant unfortunately and for 5G version, we’re getting here a 12GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
Curious about how this one performs? Check out our gaming review of the Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra below:
Here’s a piece of news that I’m pretty sure that you’ll be excited about and it’s the Huawei Matebook 14 with AMD Ryzen 4000 H-Series CPU inside. This notebook will also feature a 2K Huawei FullView display with a 3:2 display ratio and oh, there’s a touchscreen display too.
Huawei teases the arrival of the Matebook 14 with AMD Ryzen 4000 CPU in the PH |
Just like the other Huawei notebooks, this one would have an aluminum alloy chassis and sandblasted finish. This one would be on a thin side too with its 15.9mm and it just weighs at 1.49kg.
There will be Huawei Share which lets you mirror your Huawei device to the notebook and of course, there will be an easy file-transfer too and of course, you can control and even call on your PC.
For the AMD Ryzen 4000H series processor inside, this one is a big leap from the one on the Huawei Matebook D 15 that we’ve reviewed earlier this year in terms of performance and battery life.
The Huawei Matebook 14 is expected to launch this October 9, 2020.
A lot of us are still adjusting at the new normal. Most of us are working at home and buying stuff so we can still work productively or to do anything that needs to be finished before the end of the day and LG who has been focusing on ‘Life in Details’, has collaborated with different influencers and tastemakers to discuss the different LG Home entertainment products.
Some of their influencers includes Mikael Daez of LG UltraGear gaming monitors in where the the actor enjoys playing games on the Ultrawide monitor and Mikhail Red, a director who is currently enjoying working from home with his LG OLED TV. While LA Tenorio and Megan Young are enjoying the fast response times on their OLED TV.
But the TV that will caught your eye is the LG OLED GX TV. It uses the LG OLED screen technology with self-lit pixels and features excellent colors and contrasts. Aside from that, LG’s NanoCell Real 8K TV were also featured with two new speakers — XBoom Go PL5 and PL7.

OPPO A92 is the newest mid-range smartphone from the company and it’s the successor the OPPO A9 2020. The OPPO A92 does have similarities to the previous generation but we’re getting some upgrades in here and a better look. Check out my review of the OPPO A92 below:
OPPO A92 Review: Design and hardware
The OPPO A92 that we got comes in twilight black and the design of the smartphone does look gorgeous for me with its reflective design at the back that points to the camera of the smartphone and the light shifts depend on the angle that you’re looking at the smartphone.
It’s still a glasstic build for the OPPO A92 that feels fine for me but the smartphone does have a very ergonomic design thanks to the quad-curve edges of the smartphone which is why the smartphone does feel ergonomic despite its size.
At the back, the smartphone does have a protruding camera at the back with a quad-camera setup. Thankfully, the smartphone’s fingerprint scanner can be found on the power button of the smartphone and not at the back which makes the smartphone cleaner to look at.
Below the smartphone is where you can find the USB-C port of the smartphone and it does support 18W Fast charging along with the 3.5mm headphone jack and the speaker grill of the smartphone.
OPPO A92 Review: Display
We got here a 6.5-inch Full HD+ display and thankfully, we got here a better resolution and a better quality. The punch-hole cutout on the smartphone’s display does add to the beauty of the smartphone. The cutout of the selfie camera isn’t that large too so it doesn’t block too much of my view.
The colors that we got are fine and the brightness of the display looks really fine for me and it’s very usable under direct sunlight.
OPPO A92 Review: Battery Life
In our battery test of the OPPO A92, we got a score of 13 hours of 33 minutes which isn’t that bad considering that the smartphone packs a 5000mAh battery which is pretty big and the Snapdragon inside the smartphone is pretty power efficient. This can power your smartphone up to a whole day or more in your normal usage.
OPPO A92 Review: Software and Performance
The smartphone comes with ColorOS 7.1 based on Android 10 and it comes with a heavily skinned UI with themes and colors that are really easy to the eye. Of course, it does come with some apps including theme store, ORoaming, OPPO Relax, and many more. Of course, swiping to the right from the home screen gives you the smart assistant.
This might be a new generation of OPPO smartphone but it still uses the same Snapdragon 665 processor inside paired with 8GB RAM. The performance is pretty much the same as the previous generation. Yes, the smartphone is power efficient thanks to the Snapdragon 665 processor and it can run most of the apps that you need but it isn’t the most powerful chipset today and the Snapdragon 665 is getting a little dated.
In our benchmarks, the smartphone performed as expected. Check out the benchmarks of the smartphone below:
As expected, the numbers aren’t that high in its price range but again, these are the numbers that you can expect from this smartphone since we’re still running the same processor. But again, this will be fine if you’re just running basic apps and games. Speaking of games, check out our gaming test of the smartphone below:
So there we go, the OPPO A92 might be able to run some of the new games available in the market but you’ll have to tone down the settings to enjoy it.
OPPO A92 Review: Camera
For the camera of the OPPO A92, there’s the quad-camera setup at the back with a 48MP sensor, 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro, and a 2MP depth sensor and then there’s the 16MP selfie camera on the front and in our usage, the smartphone does take good shots on the smartphone. It might not be the best but it takes some decent shots. In our selfies, the smartphone did a pretty good job too. Check it out below:

OPPO A92 Review: Verdict
The OPPO A92 is out in the market for a while now and it does have a lot of competition in its price range and the OPPO A92 will do just fine. It’s not the best in terms of performance but it does its job well in the camera department. It’s a fine daily driver and if you want a decent Android device that you can use everyday then you can consider this smartphone.
OPPO A92 Specs
Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 Processor
6.5-inch Full HD+ TFT LCD
8GB RAM
128GB Internal storage expandable via MicroSD
