Vivo V11 Gets a Price Cut

0

One of the selfie-focused smartphones that we loved last year is the Vivo V11 and now, the smartphone gets a price cut after more than half a year. The smartphone was initially priced at Php19,999 but it is now priced at Php16,999 which is Php3,000 cheaper than before.

The smartphone got our praise as the smartphone features a Snapdragon 660 inside, 6GB RAM, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. The smartphone also got a 25MP front camera which can take really good selfies and then there’s the dual-lens rear 12MP camera that performs well too.

The Vivo V11 is now priced at Php16,999 so don’t forget to check out our review of the smartphone below:

OPPO F11 Pro Review

1

OPPO has also launched their newest mid-range smartphone that will succeed the OPPO F9, and it’s the OPPO F11 Pro. The smartphone has a big upgrade when it comes to design due to its similarities with the OPPO Find X rather than the OPPO F9. Want to know more about it? Check out the review of the smartphone below.

Design and construction

One thing is for sure, the design of the OPPO F11 Pro is a lot different compared to the previous F-series smartphones of OPPO. The smartphone feels a little bit heavier and thicker than before. Yes, it does add some solid and premium feel to the smartphone but the ergonomics feel different now as the smartphone might slip in your hand so I strongly suggest that you use the included hard case for the smartphone.

The smartphone has an even better feel as the OPPO F11 Pro features polycarbonate body but the feel of it is actually like glass which is really amazing. Again, the smartphone is a big leap compared to the predecessor due to its new design. Oh and the color? I love it. The gradient colors of blue and violet at back reminds me of the OPPO Find X and it’s definitely one of the best design that we’ve seen in its price range.

Below the smartphone is where you can find the micro USB port along with the headphone jack. It’s actually disappointing that we’re still using a micro USB port on this smartphone and then of course, at the top of the smartphone is where you can find the Rising camera of the smartphone for selfies. Thankfully, the power button on the right side of the smartphone is placed at the middle which is pretty easy to reach and the opposite to that is the volume rocker which is easy to reach too.

At the back is where you can find the fingerprint scanner and it was very fast. If you’re not a fan of that, you can also use the face unlock of the smartphone which means that the rising camera of the smartphone needs to pop up every time you unlock the smartphone.

All-screen, no notch

Looks like 2019 is the year of no notch displays and the OPPO F11 Pro is one of the proof. The smartphone does have a 6.5-inch Full HD+ display with a 90.9% screen-to-body ratio which is pretty immersive when you’re playing games and also watching movies on Netflix.

Despite the usage of the TFT-LTPS panel, the OPPO F11 Pro does have a satisfying display. It may not be as great as the AMOLED displays but the OPPO F11 Pro will definitely do its job well. Overall, the brightness, colors, and contrasts of the display of the smartphone are just fine.

Fair battery life with fast charging

The OPPO F11 Pro has a 4000mAh battery which will let you last a whole day of usage but of course, it will depend on how you use the smartphone. In our usage, we used the OPPO F11 Pro for a whole day and we NEVER used a power bank for the smartphone. Another thing, the VOOC 3.0 charging is also really fast but not as fast as Super VOOC. For an hour of charging, I can already get more than 60% of the battery which is really good for a day of use. In our test, the OPPO F11 Pro managed to get a score of 9 hours and 48 minutes at PCMark which is just a fine score.

A small performance upgrade

The OPPO F11 Pro uses an Helio P70 which is the successor of the Helio P60 however, the Helio P70 isn’t really a big upgrade compared to the predecessor. MediaTek mostly focused on the AI capability of the chipset with the Helio P70 which is good in most cases and most features of the smartphone. In our benchmark, we’ve seen better performance slight upgrade on the CPU and a noticeable difference in the GPU department.

In our test, we still got a better score on the Helio P70 over the Helio P60 which was used by the OPPO F9. However, it’s a problem that the performance difference isn’t really that big. So don’t expect too much on the Helio P70 of the smartphone.

Gaming on the smartphone will just run well. If you plan to play Mobile Legends then that won’t be a problem to the smartphone and surprisingly, even at PUBG Mobile and NBA 2k19, the smartphone did well in our GameBench benchmark however, we’re still stuck at high frame rate at PUBG which means that the smartphone is capped at 30fps.

PUBG Mobile – HD Graphics, High Frame Rate – With Anti-Aliasing
NBA 2k19 High Settings – Ultra Cloth Simulation

You can check out the GameBench Benchmarking app at (https://www.gamebench.net)

You can also download the app at the Play Store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gamebench.metricscollector)

ColorOS is a lot better

One of the things that I really like on the OPPO F11 Pro is the all-new Color OS 6 which is also seen on the Realme 3 that we’ve reviewed earlier. The UI of ColorOS 6 is not just user-friendly but it is also very nice to look at too. The elements were cleaner and of course, it was a lot faster. As expected, there will be some pre-installed applications but most of them are useful and of course, it won’t take too much of your storage on the smartphone.

Camera

The OPPO F11 Pro’s main feature is its 12MP rising camera which is basically a pop-up camera which hides the front camera of the smartphone. The look of it is not the same as the OPPO Find X as this one features a periscope-like design.

In our camera test, I didn’t find the OPPO F11 Pro the best one but it does its job well and the last update that I had on the smartphone gave a big boost in the camera quality. Using the front camera of the smartphone, the OPPO F11 Pro does its job well and even at low light, the camera of the smartphone was better than I expected, however, there are some times that the camera will be too soft. Another thing, the OPPO F11 Pro also sports a night mode so you can do brighter night shots with this smartphone. Check out the shots that I took using the smartphone:

The Dazzle color also helps in improving the color and also brightens up the image as seen in the image below.

Verdict

The OPPO F11 Pro is truly one of the most stylish smartphones in the market right now thanks to its gradient colors at the back and also the build of the smartphone that feels like glass. The smartphone also packs a “rising camera” which basically hides the selfie camera and have an all-screen display on the front. Well, the camera of the smartphone has become better too even at low light however I still think that there should be some improvements on the smartphone. The OPPO F11 Pro runs on Helio P70 which isn’t a big upgrade from the Helio P60 but the AI of the smartphone has definitely improved.

If you’re into stylish phones and if you’re into the selfie game then you might want to take a look at the OPPO F11 Pro. The smartphone is available forPhp18,990

Samsung launches the Galaxy Watch Active, Galaxy Buds, & Galaxy Fit in the PH

0

The Samsung Galaxy Ecosystem is about to get better as Samsung has finally launched its newest wearables in the Philippines and these are the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active, Galaxy Buds, and Galaxy Fit. These devices are best partnered with your Samsung Galaxy smartphone especially the Samsung Galaxy S10 series.

Samsung Galaxy Buds

The Samsung Galaxy Buds is the company’s answer to Apple’s Airpods. This one comes with features that you would surely like including the wireless connectivity and of course, a long battery life promising up to six hours of music or five hours of talk time. The wireless earbuds are also tuned by AKG so you already know that the quality of the earbuds is really good.

Not only that, the Galaxy Buds also features wireless charging so you can charge your Galaxy buds at with Wireless Powershare of the Samsung Galaxy S10 or just any wireless charger. The Samsung Galaxy Buds is available in black and white while the yellow color will be launched soon and it will be an online exclusive variant.

The Samsung Galaxy Buds is priced at Php6,990.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active

This is a must-have for people who own a smartphone and wants to have a healthier lifestyle. With the Galaxy Watch Active, you can have a personal trainer as it lets you monitor sleep, stress, and health levels. And of course, other activities too such as biking, running, rowing, and even an elliptical trainer. Actually, Samsung gives you up to 40 different workouts in where you can set your daily goals and of course, monitor your progress. Oh and don’t worry about swimming because the Galaxy Watch Active is water resistant.

Not only that, but the watch also provides you with a stress tracker and the watch can detect if you’re deeply stressed and then there’s the Breath session that aids you to bring a balance in your day and of course, the heart rate monitor and also a sleep tracker

But of course, not only that the Galaxy Watch Active can help you build a healthier lifestyle,  but it can also help you in your everyday tasks as the Galaxy Watch Active lets you answer calls and send messages, and also sync your apps and even control your Spotify playlist.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active is now available nationwide in Rose Gold and Black for Php11,990.

Samsung Galaxy Fit and Fit E

These two devices are my favorites as these wearables, not only track and monitor your lifestyle but these two are actually affordable. These fitness bands support your active lifestyles and it also lets you connect to your Samsung health app on your smartphone. You can have enhanced sleep analysis and smart stress management with these devices and of course, receive notifications and messages on the fitness bands. It also has a water resistance rating of 5 ATM. The Samsung Galaxy Fit and Galaxy Fit E will be available in the Philippines soon for Php4,990 and Php1,990 respectively which is really affordable.

Vivo V15 Pro Review: Smartphone made for selfies

2

The Vivo V15 Pro was recently launched in the Philippines and they got powerful and interesting hardware on this smartphone because this mid-range smartphone now features the things that we love on the Vivo NEX smartphone which are the Ultra FullView display and also the pop-up selfie camera.

Design and hardware

The Vivo V15 Pro has a familiar design since we’re getting the ergonomics of the V series and also the look of the NEX series smartphones as we got a glossy design with a pattern that reflects at the back that looks really elegant despite its build made of plastic.

However, the Vivo V15 Pro is thick and a little bit heavy especially with its protruding camera that is definitely noticeable when you’re looking at the back of the smartphone. Despite its thickness, the curves of the smartphone at the back does help with the ergonomics of the Vivo V15 Pro. But don’t worry because the Vivo V15 Pro does come with a case which can definitely protect the smartphone and also adds more grip to the smartphone.

On the right of the smartphone is where you can find the volume rocker and also the power button while on the other side, the Vivo V15 Pro has a dedicated button on the side that can launch Google Assistant which is a big deal to me as I don’t have to press and hold the home button anymore as I do a lot of searching on the smartphone

Despite being a “Pro” variant, the Vivo V15 Pro didn’t lose the headphone jack and then there’s the dual sim card tray which can below located below and it is separate from the microSD card tray which can be found on the upper part of the special button. However, my gripe with this smartphone is that the Vivo V15 Pro is still using a Micro USB port. For a 2019 smartphone at more than Php20,000, this is not acceptable already.

Noticeably, the Vivo V15 Pro loses its fingerprint scanner at the back due to the usage of the in-display fingerprint scanner which was seen on the Vivo X21UD that we’ve reviewed before. Thankfully, technology has definitely improved over the previous generation and my fingerprints can be scanned faster and better compared to the last generation. Even with a light touch, the smartphone can be easily unlocked.

Long battery life

One of the things that we loved on the Vivo V15 Pro is we got a long battery life thanks to the 3700mAh battery inside it and in our PC Mark Battery Life benchmark log, we got a score of 9 hours and 12 minutes which is pretty great for a smartphone like this. In my usage, I always get a day of use without asking for more juice.

Vivid display with no notch

Yep, the Vivo V15 Pro managed to lose the notch on this smartphone just like the Vivo NEX smartphone. There’s a Full HD+ display in the 6.39-inch Ultra FullView Display. Basically, the smartphone doesn’t sport a notch.

The display is actually quite nice as the colours were really good thanks to the Super AMOLED panel. There are the deep blacks and vivid colours with this display and the smartphone are actually bright enough to be used outside.

A better Funtouch OS

The Vivo V15 Pro still uses the FunTouch OS which means that the software of the smartphone is heavily customized. There’s FunTouch OS 9 based on Android 9 Pie and navigating on this one is smooth and yes, there’s no app drawer by default but this one is definitely user-friendly.

But of course, there is still some bloatware that comes with the smartphone and some of you might not use it but don’t worry because the smartphone does come with a 128GB storage so you don’t have to worry about losing memory on these applications.

Quite a performer

Inside the Vivo V15 Pro is a Snapdragon 675 chipset and then there’s the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage inside. This is actually nice as other countries only got the 6GB RAM. With this hardware inside, we got a pretty good benchmarks scores on the Vivo V15 Pro. We actually got these scores on the Vivo V15 Pro.

Gaming on the smartphone is a breeze. We tried different games on the Vivo V15 Pro and we’re pretty amazed at the performance of the smartphone. We ran demanding games like PUBG Mobile, NBA 2k19 and AxE and the Vivo V15 Pro didn’t have any problem running on these games. Not only that, but the Vivo V15 Pro also comes with the Game Cube application that lets you help you customize the settings for notifications and other things that might affect your gaming.

Unfortunately, we were not able to run the games on Gamebench but in NBA 2k19, we’ve set it up to ultra high settings and we didn’t see a problem with it and it was running really smooth. Even in Talion, the smartphone was able to run it at medium settings considering that the smartphone is really heavy on the GPU and CPU.

Great camera

The Vivo V15 Pro’s biggest feature aside from the display is the camera. We got a 48MP triple rear lens camera with of it, an ultra-wide angle lens and then there’s the 32MP pop-up selfie camera and surprisingly, the cameras of the Vivo V15 Pro performed really great.

The camera app of the smartphone comes with a lot of icons when you first open it so it gets a little bit confusing at first but you’ll definitely get used to it after a few tries. The smartphone does come with a triple lens camera and one of them is a wide angle lens and the Vivo V15 Pro comes with a night mode so you can shoot night shots in handheld mode. The shots that we took using the rear camera of the smartphone were great. The colors are really nice and the wide-angle camera of the smartphone didn’t disappoint. Check out the shots that we took using the smartphone.

The selfie camera of the smartphone was really sharp too however, I would suggest that you wouldn’t use the beautification mode as sometimes, it gets too much smoothness in your face. Nonetheless, the selfie camera of the smartphone is one of the best that I’ve tested and for selfie lovers, you’ll definitely love the camera of the Vivo V15 Pro.

Verdict

For a premium midrange smartphone, the Vivo V15 Pro is a really great smartphone and I would highly recommend this one unless if you’re not a fan of mechanized elevating selfie camera and its thick and plastic build. But if you’re looking for a decent mid-range smartphone that comes with a really good camera and also a decent performance then you might want to look at this one, the Vivo V15 Pro.

It’s also a good thing that Vivo has opted for the 8GB/128GB variant in the Philippines for a larger memory being demanded by power users. The Vivo V15 Pro will be available for Php23,999
