Samsung Galaxy S5 and Gear smartwatches preview

0

Some Samsung stores are already offering a preview of their next flagship phone at their shops including the one at Samsung Aura. The Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Gear Fit, Samsung Gear 2 and the Samsung Gear 2 Neo are now on display and available for hands-on at Samsung store SM Aura.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 will be their newest flagship phone that would be water and dust resistant. It’s not their first flagship to have a water and dust resistant because the Samsung Galaxy S4 had a variant called Samsung Galaxy S4 Active that also features water and dust resistant. Other cool features of the Samsung Galaxy S5 is the heart rate sensor and the fast auto-focus camera. It will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 801 processor which will give you seamless performance.

Other devices that are on demo are the Samsung Gear 2 Neo and Samsung Gear Fit. The Samsung Gear 2 isn’t available for demo but it will be available in the Philippines soon. The difference between the Samsung Gear 2 and Samsung Gear 2 Neo is that the latter ditched the camera for a much lower price. Both of those smartwatches are the successor of the Samsung Galaxy Gear. While the Samsung Gear Fit might not be powered by Tizen but it is a smartwatch that is focused on fitness.

The prices of the Samsung Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit are P13490, P8990 and P8990 respectively. That’s actually not bad for a smartwatch however, all of these smartwatches will only work with selected Samsung Galaxy devices.

HTC One M8 is now official

0
The HTC One (M8) is now official today and most of rumors that we’ve heard are true. Yes, there’s a dual camera on the HTC One which is a very unique feature. Here are the things that we can expect from the HTC One.

The HTC One has now a larger 5” 1080p display and it features a thinner, shiner and curvier design unlike its predecessor. One of the things that I really like on the first HTC One was Boomsound, the audio was very clear and awesome and according to HTC, they’ve improve the sound quality of the new HTC One.

There are 2 cameras on the HTC One because the other one will gather the depth information which will give you a better focus and just like the first one, it still have that ultrapixel camera in which you’ll a measly 4 MP camera but hey, the ultrapixel camera on the new HTC One is now better than the old one.

HTC One (M8) Specifications

  • 5.0″ Full HD Super LCD3
  • 16/32 GB Internal storage
  • MicroSD card slot up to 128 GB
  • 2 GB RAM
  • Dual 4 MP Rear Camera with Dual-LED Flash
  • 5 MP Front Camera

Samsung PRO tablet series launched!

0

Yesterday, Samsung Philippines launched their newest tablets — the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 and the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2. Both tablets are aim towards productivity and it is set to compete at the high-end tablet market.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 is probably the best tablet for its size. Compared to the iPad Mini, the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 is more comfortable when you’re holding it in one hand because this one is widescreen unlike the iPad mini which has a display ratio of 4:3. In Layman’s term, the iPad mini is much wider which makes it more difficult to hold.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 boasts a WQXGA display (2560×1600) that’s why the viewing experience is really great. Can you imagine that? They fitted a 2560×1600 resolution on an 8.4″ display! The 8.4″ tablet would sport a Quad-Core Snapdragon 800 processor with a 2 GB of RAM which makes the tablet a media powerhouse too.

Another tablet that was launched yesterday was the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2. If you have followed me on my instagram, you probably have seen the things that I did with the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2. You got that right, it sports a 12.2″ WQXGA display which helps me be more productive especially when you’re doing your work.

The launch of the Samsung Pro Series also introduced Hancom Office. It’s an application built inside the Samsung Galaxy Pro series which has a lot of features. Other interesting features on these PRO tablets are Remote PC and Multi-Window.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 will be available in a few weeks for P18,990 while the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 is now available for P36,990. You know what, the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 is a really nice tablet. Actually, I want the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 than the Nexus 7. Oh, and stay tuned for my Samsung Galaxy Note 12.2 review here at JAM Online!

WatchGuard Firebox T10 UTM solution

0
Watchguard recently announced WatchGuard Firebox® T10 Unified Threat Management (UTM) solution. It allows enterprises to extend powerful network security to small office home office environments.

Heard of the NSA spying scandal? Well, it might be in the US but why don’t you make it sure that you’ll be secured from the hackers…and the NSA, right? The attackers always go for the weakest link when they’re trying to get to a secured network and most of the time, it is the home office or a small office user.

Because of these threats, it is recommended to have a UTM solution like the Firebox T10 for security. According to a recent global WatchGuard survey of IT professionals, more than 82 percent allow employees to access the corporate network from a small office or home office location. However, nearly 30 percent do not require a gateway security device. For those that do, only 23 percent require users to use security products similar to those used in the corporate headquarters, with features such as Intrusion Prevention, AntiVirus, Data Loss Prevention, Application Control, AntiSPAM, and more.

Firebox T10 is the only enterprise-level UTM solution in the industry with comprehensive services for the home office at a reasonable price. The WatchGuard Firebox T10 is now available and if you want to know more about it, check out their website for more information

Android Wear: Platform for Wearables

0

The wearables has been outed for a while now but Google doesn’t really have an official operating system for that. And now, they announced the Android wear. With Android wear, they’ve just expanded their reach from smartphones and tablets to the wearables. One of the most interesting feature of Google Wear is always listening Google Now by just saying “Ok Google” then you can ask questions just like the Google Now in your smartphones. And just like other smartwatches, it brings you the useful information when you want and when you need it. Google Wear is optimized to monitor your fitness and health too. Here’s a preview of what to expect from Android Wear.

Google is already working with Asus, HTC, LG, Motorola and Samsung; chip makers Broadcom, Imagination, Intel, Mediatek and Qualcomm; and fashion brands like the Fossil Group but only LG and Motorola has announced their own Google Android Wear smartwatch. Here’s Moto360 by Motorola.

Project Cars is AWESOME

0

I love Gran Turismo series on the Playstation not just because of the cars but also because of the graphics. I’m really amazed how Sony made Gran Turismo look realistic on a more than half a decade console. If gaming consoles has Gran Turismo and Forza, well, the PC master race has Project Cars. Don’t worry, the game would be available on consoles too. Basically, the game is like Gran Turismo or Forza but hey, you should check out the graphics of this game. Trust me, it’s awesome.

Oh and did I say that the game is still at Alpha stage?

ASUS Fonepad 7 Dual SIM now available!

0
Last week, ASUS unveiled the Fonepad 7 Dual SIM to the Philippine Market. The Fonepad 7 is a 7” phablet powered by Intel Atom Z2520 and it is capable of 3G on both sim. Interesting right?

The ASUS Fonepad 7 might not have a FHD display on its display but the 1280×800 is already decent enough for a 7” display. The Intel Atom Z2520 processor might be dual-core but it acts like a quad-core processor thanks to the hyper threading technology of Intel. Check out the specifications below:

ASUS Fonepad 7 Dual SIM Specifications
  • Intel Clover Trail + Z2520 1.2GHz CPU
  • 7” IPS Display 1280×800
  • 1 GB memory
  • 8 GB + 16 GB Webstorage

  • 5 MP Rear camera
  • 1.2 MP Front camera
  • 3910 mAh battery

  • Android 4.3 Jelly bean
By basing on the specs, I think the ASUS Fonepad 7 Dual sim is a good buy. Why? This is only one of the few tablets that feature a dual sim 3G connectivity and the Intel Atom powering this device is quite powerful. The ASUS Fonepad 7 Dual sim is now available in the Philippines for P8,995 in black and white. It also comes with a 3G sim card with 50MB/month data for 3 months and free 6 month Trend Micro Mobile Security.
