Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Z Flip8, its latest clamshell foldable smartphone designed to bring AI-powered experiences, improved cameras, and a slimmer design to users who value portability and self-expression.
Announced alongside the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold8, the Galaxy Z Flip8 features a redesigned FlexWindow, upgraded camera capabilities, Galaxy AI experiences optimized for the flip form factor, and a new Exynos processor. The smartphone is available for pre-order in the Philippines starting July 22, with prices beginning at Php77,990.
Slimmer design with a larger FlexWindow
Samsung said the Galaxy Z Flip8 is its slimmest and lightest Flip smartphone to date, measuring 6.1mm when unfolded and weighing 180 grams.
The device features a 6.9-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and Vision Booster technology.
Meanwhile, the 4.1-inch Super AMOLED FlexWindow supports refresh rates of up to 120Hz, allowing users to access apps, notifications, and AI-powered features without opening the phone.
Samsung said the redesigned FlexWindow serves as an AI-native interface, bringing information, actions, and assistance closer to users through the cover display.
AI features designed for the FlexWindow
The Galaxy Z Flip8 runs Android 17 with One UI 9, bringing Galaxy AI experiences tailored for the flip form factor.
Samsung said the updated FlexWindow provides quicker access to apps, insights, and AI-powered features.
Among the new experiences is Now Brief, which delivers personalized updates, recommendations, and next steps directly on the cover screen.
The device also supports Gemini Intelligence, allowing users to complete connected actions through natural voice requests or by activating the side key from the FlexWindow.
According to Samsung, Galaxy AI has been optimized for the Flip8’s compact design, making frequently used information and shortcuts easier to access without unfolding the device.
50MP camera system and enhanced FlexCam features
The Galaxy Z Flip8 is equipped with a dual rear camera system consisting of:
- 50MP wide-angle camera
- 12MP ultra-wide camera
For selfies and video calls, the device includes a 10MP front camera.
Samsung said the 50MP camera, paired with the ProVisual Engine, is designed to capture detailed portraits and everyday photos with natural skin tones, improved dynamic bokeh, and enhanced detail.
The Galaxy Z Flip8 also introduces updated FlexCam features, including:
- Flex Mode for hands-free shooting from multiple angles
- Camcorder Grip with Zoom Rocker for more stable handheld recording
- Super Steady with a new Horizontal Lock option for smoother videos
- FlipShot for customizable mirror selfies on the FlexWindow
- Mirror View for a mirror-like preview before taking photos
These features will make it easier to create content without requiring additional accessories.
Exynos 2600 processor and 4,300mAh battery
The Galaxy Z Flip8 is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 2600 processor.
It comes with 12GB of RAM and is available with either 256GB or 512GB of internal storage.
The smartphone is equipped with a 4,300mAh dual battery and supports 25W wired charging, 15W fast wireless charging, and Wireless PowerShare.
The Galaxy Z Flip8 also supports 5G, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4.
Security features and software enhancements
Samsung said the Galaxy Z Flip8 incorporates the company’s latest security technologies to support AI-powered experiences.
These include Samsung Knox, Knox Vault, Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP), and the Personal Data Engine, which helps enable personalized AI experiences while protecting user data.
One UI 9 also introduces an AI Assistant Activity dashboard, allowing users to review AI-generated actions in one place. Meanwhile, new Privacy Alerts notify users of potential privacy risks, including unnecessary background permission requests.
The Galaxy Z Flip8 carries an IP48 rating for water resistance and runs Android 17 with One UI 9.
Includes six months of Google AI Pro
Samsung said customers purchasing the Galaxy Z Flip8 will receive a six-month trial of Google AI Pro, which includes 5TB of cloud capacity.
The company also updated Smart Switch, allowing iPhone users to transfer data wirelessly by scanning a QR code without installing additional applications. Meanwhile, Quick Share introduces new compatibility with AirDrop to make file sharing between Galaxy and iOS devices more seamless.
