The new TechLife Pad is the brand‘s latest attempt to boost its presence in the Philippine market. With the tagline “Entertainment Made Easy,” we had high hopes that it could meet our needs despite its affordable price tag. But can it really deliver on its promises? We spent weeks with the device, and here’s our review!
TechLife Pad: Design
The TechLife Pad is available in two striking color variants: Graphite Blue and Graphite Gray. Unlike other flashy devices, these color options are simple yet stylish, making it perfect for both professional and casual settings. Whether you’re using it in the office or as a student, this tablet strikes a balance between being stylish and professional.
We took the device to the office, and it definitely stood out. The brand is relatively new to the public, so we got a lot of curious questions about what device we were using. The feedback was positive, as the tablet looks great. Even in a café, it doesn’t reveal its affordable price at first glance.
So, in terms of pure aesthetics, the TechLife Pad definitely passes the vibe check.
But looks alone don’t cut it if the device isn’t functional, right?
Fortunately, the TechLife Pad isn’t just about looks. Measuring 7.4mm in thickness and weighing 453 grams, it’s comfortable to hold for extended periods. The back panel is made with over 90% aluminum, with some ABS plastic elements, giving it a premium feel that belies its budget-friendly price tag.
We just wish it had some protection against water and dust. Tablet users often prefer on-the-go devices, which means they are usually exposed to the elements.
Also, we noticed that both the display and back panel were a bit prone to smudges, so without a protective case, you’ll need to clean it frequently.
The button and port layout is pretty standard: the power switch and volume rocker are on the upper right side, and the left side is clean. At the bottom, you’ll find a 3.5mm audio port, two stereo speakers, a Type-C port, and a hybrid SIM slot. On top, there are two more stereo speakers, which enhance the immersive experience.
TechLife Pad: Multimedia
The TechLife Pad boasts a 10.36-inch display that, while having slightly thicker bezels, offers better grip space for comfortable handling. Additionally, the front-facing camera is strategically placed on one of the longer edges, ensuring an optimal position for video calls when the device is used in landscape mode.
For its price, it offers a 2K resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate. Users will also appreciate the quad-stereo speakers for an immersive audio experience.
However, we noticed that watching videos on YouTube is limited to 720p, which might be a deal-breaker for some entertainment enthusiasts. The screen also struggles under direct sunlight, which could be an issue for outdoor use. Despite these limitations, the tablet still delivers vibrant colors and decent sharpness, making it perfect for kids.
The quad-stereo speakers, positioned on the top and bottom, deliver surprisingly robust audio for an entry-level device. The sound quality is clear and loud, making it a good choice for watching videos and playing games.
TechLife Pad: Software
Powered by stock Android 14, the TechLife Pad provides a clean and user-friendly experience. While it doesn’t come with a dedicated video player or photo gallery, users can easily download these from the app store. The interface remains smooth and easy to navigate, and the integration of Google Kids Space adds to its appeal as a family-friendly device.
The tablet also supports split-screen functionality, allowing users to run two apps side by side. This feature is one of our favorites, as we can watch videos while writing articles.
However, the software isn’t designed for heavy usage. We experienced some lags, especially when multiple apps were running or when switching between apps.
TechLife Pad: Performance
The TechLife Pad runs on the Unisoc T606 octa-core processor, making it well-suited for everyday tasks. It boasts 128GB of internal storage, which is quite generous for a device in its class. If you need more space, the microSD card slot supports up to 1TB of additional storage, which is a great bonus.
A notable feature is the RAM configuration. The tablet offers up to 8GB of total RAM, combining 4GB of physical RAM with an additional 4GB through virtual RAM technology.
While we did experience some lag during heavy usage, the tablet performs well for basic everyday tasks such as streaming video content, browsing social media, reading online, and casual gaming.
TechLife Pad: Camera
The TechLife Pad uses an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. While adequate for basic shots, the cameras fall short for those wanting their tablet to double as a smartphone. Photos are grainy and lack clarity in low light for both the main and selfie cameras, even when we set the photo quality to “Super Fine.”
However, considering the tablet’s focus on other features, we can let it slide.

TechLife Pad: Battery Life
The TechLife Pad is equipped with a robust 7,000mAh battery, providing ample power for daily activities. It supports 10W wired charging via USB Type-C, but the charging speed is slow. Meanwhile, depending on how you use it, this battery capacity should comfortably meet your day-to-day needs.
When used as our main tablet, it could run for more than half a day. Our activities included Spotify streaming, casual social media browsing, and web browsing.
TechLife Pad: Verdict
Overall, the TechLife Pad offers a lot of value for its price. It combines stylish design, decent performance, and robust audio quality, making it a solid choice for casual users and families. While it has its limitations, such as average camera quality and limited video resolution, its strengths make it a compelling option in the budget tablet market.
You can score the new TechLife Pad for Php8,999.

We’ve spent months using the realme 12 5G, not just as a backup phone but often as our main device. With its sleek design, solid performance, and impressive battery life, it’s clear that this phone aims to be a strong contender in the mid-range market. Now that we’ve put it through its paces, here’s our in-depth review of the realme 12 5G!
realme 12 5G: Design
The realme 12 5G draws inspiration from high-end watches, and it shows. The rear panel sports a distinctive “watch-like sunburst dial” and a sleek line running down the center. Our review unit came in the striking Woodland Green color variant, which we found quite appealing. This color offers a premium touch, combined with a thin physique and rounded corners for a comfortable grip.
The circular camera layout, reminiscent of its predecessors, houses two cameras and an LED flash. Although it lacks a vegan leather option, the matte finish plastic gives off a metallic vibe, adding to its premium feel. The button and port layout mirrors that of the realme 12+ 5G, complete with a headphone jack, stereo speakers, and an IP54 rating for added durability.
Meanwhile, the volume rocker and power button are on the right side, while at the bottom, you’ll find a loudspeaker, USB-C port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The top houses the other loudspeaker, a secondary microphone, and a dual-sim card slot with a microSD slot that takes up the second sim.
realme 12 5G: Multimedia
For binge-watching sessions, the realme 12 5G’s 6.72-inch Full HD+ LTPS LCD is certainly up to the task. It delivers good levels of detail and rich colors. With 950 nits of peak brightness, you can see what’s on the screen clearly even under direct sunlight. The 6-level dynamic refresh rate adjusts to match the activity on screen, enhancing efficiency.
Audio-wise, you get a dual speaker setup that delivers decent bass, clear vocals, and treble that isn’t harsh. Volume-wise, it’s enough for a car or a small room. And for those who still use wired headphones, the realme 12 5G has a handy 3.5mm headphone jack.
realme 12 5G: Camera
The realme 12 5G’s camera system features a 108MP main shooter with 3x Zoom Portrait capabilities. Powered by the high-performance HM6 Sensor, this setup ensures that every shot is rich in detail and vibrant in color, even in low-light conditions.
However, compared to most devices today, the device lacks an ultra-wide lens. Meaning, it doesn’t offer a hassle-free experience when taking group photos. Technically, you have to physically move back if you wish to fit more subjects into the frame.
Low light photos from the front camera need improvement as well. Meanwhile, at night, the AI algorithm does most of the work, but the photos aren’t as sharp as those taken during the day. The edges are less defined, and there’s more noticeable grain. Even with 3x zoom, the difference in quality between day and night shots is quite noticeable.

realme 12 5G: Software
Running on Android 14 with realme UI 5.0, the realme 12 feels familiar and user-friendly. Whether you’re a seasoned realme user or new to Android, it offers a smooth experience. The UI isn’t overly skinned, maintaining that essential Android feel.
Special features like Split View and Floating Window can be quite handy for multitasking. Given the relatively small screen, Floating Window is more practical than Split View. However, the pre-installed bloatware is a downside. While some apps like Facebook, Lazada, and Shopee are useful, the rest were promptly deleted to free up space.
realme 12 5G: Performance
Under the hood, the realme 12 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ processor, ensuring a seamless and responsive user experience. Whether you’re multitasking or gaming, this device delivers reliable performance that keeps up with your demanding lifestyle. Switching from one app to another is smooth, too.
It comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, which is pretty standard. For those with a large collection of music, videos, or documents, there is a microSD card slot for additional storage. The phone handles games like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Pokémon Unite, and Call of Duty quite well.
Benchmark Scores:
When using it intensively, we experienced a few lags, but they were still tolerable. Nevertheless, we opted to play at mid-level quality to ensure smooth performance. There were also times when the device heated up during heavy graphics gaming sessions, especially when the battery was down to 30%. Still, it was manageable. Given its specs, we didn’t really expect top-tier gaming performance anyway.
realme 12 5G: Battery Life
The realme 12 5G does not disappoint when it comes to battery life. With a massive 5000mAh battery, it ensures you can capture life’s moments without worrying about running out of juice. As our main driver, it could last more than 12 hours.
And when it’s time to recharge, the 45W SUPERVOOC Charge technology provides lightning-fast charging, getting you back up to 50% in just 30 minutes.
realme 12 5G: Verdict
The device is a solid mid-range phone that ticks most of the right boxes. It offers a premium design, reliable performance, good battery life, and a user-friendly interface. While it has its quirks, like the absence of an ultra-wide lens and pre-installed bloatware, these are minor setbacks considering its overall value. If you’re looking for a stylish and capable 5G phone that won’t break the bank, the realme 12 5G is definitely worth considering.

The TechLife Pad is the brand’s first offering into the tablet market, aiming to provide a budget-friendly option that balances entertainment and productivity. With its affordable price and family-friendly features, here are our initial thoughts on the device.
Google Kids Space
TechLife Pad: Family-Friendly Features
One of the standout aspects of the TechLife Pad is its suitability for children, thanks to the inclusion of Google Kids Space. This feature allows parents to set up a safe and controlled environment for their kids, providing access to age-appropriate apps, games, and books. Google Kids Space also includes parental controls, ensuring that children can only access content that is safe and educational.
TechLife Pad: Design and Build Quality
Our review unit sports a sleek Graphite Grey finish, weighing 453 grams. The smooth aluminum back panel feels sturdy and premium, offering a comfortable grip despite its slim profile at 7.4mm. However, both the display and back panel are prone to fingerprints and smudges, which could require frequent cleaning.
TechLife Pad: Multimedia
Featuring a 10.36-inch display with a 2K resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate, the TechLife Pad provides a decent viewing experience for its price range. The screen is bright and vibrant enough for indoor use, though it might struggle under direct sunlight. The bezels are relatively thick, but they offer a secure place to hold the tablet without obstructing the screen.
The tablet’s quad-stereo speakers, positioned on the top and bottom, deliver surprisingly robust audio for an entry-level device. The sound quality is clear and loud, making it a good choice for watching videos and playing games.
TechLife Pad: Software
Running on stock Android 14, the tablet offers a clean and intuitive user experience. While the lack of a dedicated video player and photo gallery might require users to download additional apps, the overall interface is smooth and easy to navigate. The Google Kids Space integration further enhances its appeal as a family device.
TechLife Pad: Performance
Powered by the UNISOC T606 chipset, the device offers satisfactory performance for everyday tasks. During our hands-on, the device managed casual gaming and multimedia consumption without significant issues. While not the most powerful tablet on the market, it is reliable for typical use cases such as web browsing and social media.
TechLife Pad: Camera
Equipped with an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera, the device’s camera setup is basic but adequate for casual use. The photo quality is sufficient for video calls and quick snapshots, though it won’t replace a dedicated camera for high-quality photography.
TechLife Pad: Battery
The 7,000mAh battery provides impressive longevity, making the tablet a reliable companion for extended use. According to TechLife, the tablet can last up to 15 hours on standby and around 4.4 hours of continuous use. Charging is done via USB Type-C, but the 10W charging speed is relatively slow.
INITIAL THOUGHTS…
The TechLife Pad stands out as a solid entry-level tablet, particularly appealing to families with young children. Its combination of decent performance, robust audio, and family-friendly features like Google Kids Space makes it a great choice for those seeking an affordable and versatile device.
