Samsung Galaxy Note ICS upgrade with Premium suite

0

I must admit. I’m a big fan of the Samsung Galaxy Note. Yes, Yes I am. But unfortunately I don’t have the enough budget to get one for myself. Anyway, Samsung has a good and bad news for all of you Galaxy Note users. The bad news is the upgrade of the Samsung Galaxy note to the ICS isn’t going to happen this month but it is expected to be release in Q2 while the good news is that the ICS upgrade for the Galaxy Note will come with some premium suite of apps that will take advantage of the S-Pen stylus like the S-note which has some added features and templates to suite your needs, shape match which can automatically correct the shapes that you draw and formula match which I think is very essential for us engineering students. Why?, Because it can derive and understand formulas that you wrote using the S-pen. Other new and upgraded features are the S memo and my story which allows you to write and send greeting cards. Oh and those new features on the ICS will be added on the Galaxy Note too! Quite impressive huh? Check out the video of the new features after the break.

Is this the Samsung Galaxy S III? Here’s my take

0
Is this the SGS III that we’re waiting for?

We’re not pretty sure if this photo is just a mock-up or it was photoshopped by someone else but I can assure you that the next Samsung Galaxy flagship will be announce this year. There are a lot of rumored features these past few months but some of them are not really solid. Some of the features that I think will hit the Galaxy S III are the larger and HD screen, bumped up camera and of course, the new Ice Cream Sandwich will be inside (not that ice cream sandwich that you can buy in restos and stores. It is Android 4.0 ICS that we’re talking about). Anyway, I noticed some things on the picture and I wanna share it to you guys.

  1. Look at that Bezel – It’s an edge-to-edge screen! holy macaroni!. It means that the screen will be large
  2. Same widgets – The widgets on the Samsung Galaxy S III is a bit similar to the widgets on the S II. There  are only a few minor changes on it. But hey, they’re still great
  3. Speaker Grill – Yes that speaker grill on the bottom looks familiar because it can be found on the Galaxy Tab 10.1N too, the one that was redesign by Samsung because of the patent lawsuit made by Apple to them.
  4. Good heavens, is that a phone? – You guys might wonder if that is a phone because it is SUUUUPER THIN.
  5. Camera button – Hurray to that! not much to be said about that
  6. Earpiece??? – I’m still wondering where the hell did they put the earpiece. This is just one of the reasons why I think it is photoshopped
  7. 5 apps – Yep, that’s 5 shortcut apps on the bottom which means that the phone will be really large like the Galaxy Note. The last phone from Samsung that we saw with 5 shortcut is the Galaxy Note.
  8. Is that a bulge? – Yes. Yes it is. Probably Samsung will have a high-powered camera inside the device
  9. Save the date – May 22 2012 at London is the launching of the much awaited Samsung Galaxy S III?
  10. That’s a physical button – Sorry folks, no onscreen buttons.
Well if you ask me, I’m not quite sure if the device is real. The lack of earpiece at the top makes me wonder if the device pictured is real or photoshopped. Anyway, it is still nice that there are a lot of people leaks and rumors about the device. It makes the SGSIII more exciting.

Samsung Galaxy Note Stop motion ad is simply awesome!

0
Samsung Galaxy Note on the video

I admit, I’m a fan of stop motion videos and I know there are a lot of stop motion ads but this one. uhm. I don’t know if it is just me or the ad is just too awesome. Just a short recap folks, The Samsung Galaxy note features a monstrous 5.3″ Super AMOLED HD display that supports the S-Pen which is basically a stylus, a 8 megapixel camera and a dual core processor. The Samsung Galaxy Note lies between the phone and tablet category so some people called it as a tabphone or phoneblet but I prefer to call it as tabphone. Anyway, the video features the Samsung Galaxy Note but some of Sammy’s devices made a cameo too on the video. It took them 4000 pictures just to create the video. Here’s the video after the break!

The music played was Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up) by Florence & The Machine.

Sony Xperia Sola Floating touch demo, Specifications, Reviews and Price in the Philippines

0
The Sony Xperia Sola

Sony recently unveiled one of its magical midrange phone a few days ago. Its moniker isn’t a letter instead Sony named it as Sony Xperia Sola. It’s a midrange phone with floating touch feature inside. So what in the world is floating touch? Well, Sony develop this awesome technology for the Sony Xperia Sola. Floating touch lets you hover in the browser just like the mouse without touching the screen. I wonder why they didn’t included it in the flagship Sony Xperia S. Anyway, powering this device is a Dual core 1 Ghz Novathor processor which I think is sufficient for everyday tasks, games and apps. It has a 5 megapixel camera that can record 720p videos. Too bad Mobile bravia engine and Exmor-R technology isn’t included in this device but I think this is still a decent midrange smartphone. I think.

Sony Xperia Sola Specifications

116 x 59 x 9.9 mm, 109g
3.7″ display with 480 x 854 pixels
8 GB Memory
5 Megapixel autofocus camera with LED Flash with video recording 720p@30fps
1 Ghz Dualcore Novathor U8500 processor
HSDPA
Wi-Fi
Bluetooth
NFC
Android 2.3 with Android 4.0 update soon

JAM Online’s 2012 Graduation Gift Guide

0
I have no idea why I included the panda in this post

Ah. March, the year when our parents cried because of their child’s graduation or maybe because of the expensive things that we ask our parents like cars or gadgets after graduating. Most of graduating students  right now are probably thinking of what should they ask to their parents. Maybe a house, a permission to have a girlfriend, a car or probably GADGETS. Since last year’s JAM Online’s 2011 Gadget gift guide has a lot of viewers, this March I’ll be suggesting some of the gadgets that you might want to ask to your parents after graduation and to ease your pain of finding how much and where you can buy it, I’ll add the price and stores on where you can buy those gadgets. So let’s start with the most affordable one.

Samsung Galaxy Y Duos

Samsung Galaxy Y has been a hit in the Philippines because of its affordable price. And now, the Android sporting phone has a dual sim twin, the Samsung Galaxy Y duos. It has a larger screen and the camera has been upgraded to 3 megapixel too. Well, I recommend this if you are into dual sim phone with an affordable price tag. Check out its specifications here

Price: P8,500
Available at: Widget City

Samsung Galaxy W

This midrange Android smartphone sports a 3.7″ screen with a decent 5 megapixel that can record HD videos. Not bad if you ask me. We’re not sure if it will be updated to Ice cream sandwich but one thing is for sure. It is a decent midrange smartphone. Check out its specifications here

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus

Not a fan of iOS? Here’s Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 plus that features Honeycomb OS powered by a Dual core processor. It has front and rear camera for video calls too. Oh and this tablet supports SMS at MMS too. It means that you can text or call directly from the tab as long as you have sim card inside.

Price: P21,800
Available at: Widget City

Panasonic Lumix GF2

Most of you might be familiar Panasonic but not as a camera brand. Yes, Panasonic sells camera under the Lumix brand and I must say that they’re doing well in the ILC market (that’s interchangeable lens camera my friends). ILC cameras are more portable and slimmer compared to DSLRs but these cameras can capture images at DSLR quality. Oh and don’t worry about the lens, you can change it (that’s why it is called as Interchangeable cameras)

Price: P22,000
Available at: Widget City

Nokia Lumia 800

We reviewed this phone a month ago and frankly, it was one of the best phone I’ve tried. It doesn’t have  a front facing camera and a dual core processor but the Windows Phone and the 8 megapixel camera was great. To know more about this phone, you might want to check out our review here

Price: P22,500
Available at: Widget City

The new iPad/iPad 3

Not yet available in the market. For those people who doesn’t know the new features of the new iPad, it will have a 5 megapixel camera, Retina Display and faster graphics. Expect this tablet to arrive this summer

Samsung Galaxy Note

This 5.3″ monster was released a year ago and this one fills the gap between a phone and a tablet. It features a 5.3″ HD Screen in where you can use the S-pen stylus that you can use to draw images and doodle on screenshots and even write your notes on the tabphone. If you are not a fan of big screens and Android then just skip to the next one

Price: P25,300 for black and P25,800 for white
Available at: Widget City

Nikon D3100

If you are not satisfied with the features of the ILC cameras then you might want to buy Nikon’s most affordable DSLR camera, the Nikon D3100. Compared to its predecessor, this DSLR can record videos up to 1080p at 24 fps. A nice camera especially for first time DSLR users

Price: P25,900 (With free 4GB card and screen guard)

Sony Xperia S

This smartphone was just announced last January and was made available last month. It features a monster 12 megapixel camera but this one still use a dual core processor inside. 2012 is the year of quad core processors (well, not on the new iPad). Anyway, this one might be great for style-conscious and fashionable graduating students

Price: P28,500
Available at: Widget City

Sony VAIO Y

Sony VAIO Y is one of the most affordable VAIO laptop. It is available in 4 different colors — Green, Pink, white and Black. This 11.6″ laptop is powered by AMD processor and can last up to 4 hours on its juice. Girls might like this laptop. Why? because it is available in pink and it has a very attractive design
