What we have here is a Nokiaception folks. Yes, this ad of Nokia Pureview 808 is entirely shot with a Nokia Pureview 808 — a 41 megapixel-touting Symbian Smartphone. Yes folks, that’s not typo. Since we are all amazed on how big the sensor is, we finally see the Pureview in action. In this ad, we can see the prowess of its optics like the ability of the Pureview to zoom in at a very far distance and so much more. Seriously, I love to try this phone. Anyway just check out the video after the break. Oh and the video is only available at 720p but the Pureview 808 can capture videos up to 1080p.

Smart Nokia Lumia 710 Launch. PLUS First impressions!

0
Nokia Lumia Launch at Republiq

Last April 19, SMART and Nokia Philippines launched the Nokia Lumia 710 (Pronounced as “No-kya Loom-ya”) at Republiq in Resorts World Manila. There were a lot of celebrities including Rhian Ramos and KC Montero who hosted the event oh and DJ Erick Morillo was there too! Aside from the 710, I also got a chance to get a hands-on of the Nokia Lumia 610 and the Nokia Lumia 900. FYI, SMART will be the exclusive carrier who will carry the Nokia Lumia 710 and the Lumia 900 in the Philippines.

That night, Republiq was filled by media and celebrities (Yes, I’m one of the celebrities there! haha Just kidding). Anyway, Like what I’ve told you earlier the Nokia Lumia 710 & Lumia 900 was demoed at the venue and Ms. Nikka Abes, the Corporate Communications Manager of Nokia Philippines also showed us the Lumia 610 which is the most affordable Windows phone that will be available at the end of April. Unfortunately, my good ol point and shoot camera just gave up the day before the launching. Since I got a chance to get a hands-on of the new lumia phones, I’ll share with you some of my first impressions.

Nokia Lumia 610

  • An entry level Windows phone but the phone looks good for an entry level
  • Even though the phone has 256mb RAM and 800 mhz processor. It is still fast. Comparable to the 1st gen Windows Phone smartphones
  • The camera can do HD videos! Yey!
  • Very affordable. Coming out of the Philippines at the end of April
  • The Nokia Lumia 900 looks like a giant Nokia Lumia 800 minus the curved glass
  • The quality of the camera is almost the same with the Lumia 800 but this one has a front facing camera
  • The white Nokia Lumia 900 is glossy. Relentless eyecandy
  • It’s big like the Samsung Galaxy S II (Obviously)
Nokia Lumia 800

The Nokia Lumia 800 is exclusive to Globe. But oh!, we have a review of the Nokia Lumia 800 here.

Nokia Lumia 710

Well, I’ll post a review of this phone very soon! So watch out for it. The Nokia Lumia 710 is available at Smart at an amortized and discounted  price of only P450 a month for 2 years. under the Special Edition Data Plan 1000.
Well, there you go folks! Sorry if I didn’t have enough pictures to satisfy your Lumia hunger but I’ll try my best to review all the Lumia phones soon :).

Nvidia GTX 680 launched: The king of GPUs

0

Yes boys and girls, The current king in graphic industry has recently been launched here in the Philippines. And yes, the Nvidia GTX 680 is pretty awesome and powerful, I mean the most powerful GPU as of this moment. Nvidia launched the most powerful graphics card last April 10 at the Crowne Plaza Galleria to the media and other distributors.

Yes, it is capable of running three 3D monitors

So what’s with the new Nvidia GTX 680? Well, this GPU consumes less power than its predecessor but it still manage to provide twice the performance per watt of the GeForce GTX 580. Here are some of the new technologies included inside the Nvidia GTX 680:

  • A new streaming multiprocessor block, known as SMX, that delivers twice the performance per watt of previous-generation products
  • Special board components, including acoustic dampeners, high-efficiency heat pipes and custom fins, that create a quiet gaming experience
  • NVIDIA GPU Boost technology, which dynamically adjusts GPU speeds to maximize gaming performance
  • New FXAA and TXAA antialiasing and Adaptive VSync technologies to enrich visual quality without compromising gaming performance
  • Support for up to four separate displays — three of them in 3D — off a single card for a massive 3D gaming experience
  • Manufactured on TSMC’s new 28-nm process, with support for PCI-E Gen 3 and DX11.1

I’ve been curious about the Facebook messenger for Windows lately and I recently find out that  Facebook messenger client for Mac OS X, Windows XP and Windows Vista isn’t available. It is only available for Windows 7. However if you’re a Mac user and you’ve downloaded Messages Beta for OS X Lion, you can set it up and receive and send messages in Facebook Messenger via Messages Beta. Yes folks, that is possible.

  1. Open Messages Beta for OS X and then go to Messages menu and open “Preferences”
  2. Click the accounts tab and then click the “+” Button
  3. Select Jabber and click the arrow before “Server Options”
  4. Type in the following:
  • Screen Name: <Facebook Username here>@chat.facebook.com
  • Password: <your Facebook password>
  • Server: chat.facebook.com
  • Port: 5222
  • (Uncheck the box labeled “Use SSL”)

Voila!. You can now use Facebook chat via Messages for Mac. If you don’t know your Facebook username then get one via this link. If you want to get Messages for OS X Lion, you may get it here. Don’t worry Snow leopard users and below because you could still setup your Facebook Messenger to iChat.

How to repair water damaged phones

0
Nokia has nothing to do with this post. Seriously.

This summer, probably a lot of you will spend and waste your time on the beaches and swimming pools and sometimes, we forgot our phones in our pockets and carelessly jump of the pool or just run into the beach. There are many cases regarding water damaged phones and most of them, well, Didn’t make it. Anyway, here is the instruction on how to revive your phone that has been damaged by water.

STEP 1: Damn it! Just don’t panic and remove the phone from being submerged in the water!.

STEP 2: Stop crying and immediately remove the sim card and battery if possible.

STEP 3: Remove all the accessories and peripherals on the phone.

STEP 4: Get a clean dry towel and wipe off your device with it. DO NOT USE a HAIR BLOWER or TISSUE PAPER. The water might be pushed further. Be sure to dry off your phone

STEP 5: Get a bowl or a bag and a bag rice and fill the bowl with rice (Be sure that the rice is uncooked)

STEP 6: Leave the phone, sim and the battery in the bowl overnight (Much better if you’ll leave that in the bowl for 2-3 days) and it will be better if you put this on a warmer place. Oh and it will be better if you will wrap it with a towel to absorb the moisture

STEP 7: If you feel that there are no moistures or water inside the phone then turn it on. If it works then you’re a lucky guy. If not, Sorry.

FAQs:

Q: Rice? DAFAQ?
A: Rice can absorb moistures.

Q: Does it work on other devices such as cameras?
A: Probably, Yes

Q: F*ck you Jam
A: Thank you

Next time, Be careful with your devices (Except when you’re a Xperia Active and Motorola Defy user). Remember guys, when you swim with your phones in your pocket, this guy will hack you to death
