POCO F5 Hands-on & First Impressions

POCO has just unveiled their newest smartphone in the market and it’s the POCO F5. It’s the newest smartphone in the market and it sports the brand new and spanking Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen2 processor inside. And boy, we do love the performance that we’re getting from the smartphone.

Simple but blocky design

For the design of the POCO F5, the smartphone comes with a plastic body which isn’t the most ideal part about the smartphone but it does have a blocky feel and design. The weight isn’t the most ideal as well but I was fine with the ergonomics of the smartphone.

There’s the flat sides on the smartphone as well along with the USB-C port of the smartphone below. On the right is the power button and also the volume rocker of the smartphone. Surprisingly, the smartphone sports a headphone jack at the top which gives the users some options for their audio.

The back of the smartphone is plastic and it does sport some pattern at the back which adds eyecandy to the smartphone but it does attract a lot of fingerprints. As for the camera module, it sports a triple lens camera with a more minimal look as the camera lenses are the only ones protruding at the back.

A fine flat display

On the front is the 6.67-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and as expected, the flat display of the POCO F5 was just great. The colors are nice and playing games like Honkai: Star Rail was enjoyable on the smartphone as the display was big, responsive and it was also vivid.

A stellar performance

The star of the show is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen2 processor inside the smartphone. It might be new but damn, the performance of the smartphone was pretty great. I was actually surprised that we were able to play Honkai Star Rail at high settings with up to 60fps. For a new game and a brand new processor, we find the processor really good.

True enough, the smartphone does perform almost similar or near to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 territory.

Not so stellar camera

For the camera of the POCO F5 5G, the camera does support a 64MP main camera along with an 8MP ultrawide camera and also a 2MP macro camera and honestly, I feel that the camera of the smartphone needs some improvements as some of the shots that I took were sharper than expected but most of the time, it was overexposed and a little bit of miss in terms of colors

Verdict

POCO F Philippines

The POCO F5 5G might not have the best in everything but it definitely packs a punch in terms of performance. We definitely love the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen2 processor inside it along with the display of the smartphone but the camera of the smartphone needs a lot of improvement.
