Apple unveils iPhone Duo, its first-ever foldable iPhone with A20 Pro chip inside

Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone Duo, marking the debut of its long-awaited foldable smartphone from the most popular mobile company.

It was built for over a decade of research and development, the flagship device features a book-style foldable design from Grade 5 Titanium, paired with a custom-engineered dual-gear hinge and an invisible flexible display architecture.

On the outside, users get a 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display protected by Ceramic Shield 2, featuring a 1–120Hz ProMotion refresh rate, Always-On capabilities, and up to 3,000 nits peak outdoor brightness.

Unfolding the device reveals a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR OLED inner display with a nano-texture anti-glare finish, stress-relieving gliding glass layers, and Apple Pencil (USB-C) support across both screens.

The chassis incorporates IP68 water and dust resistance, along with a Touch ID side button integrated into the power key and a dedicated Camera Control button.

Dual 48MP Fusion Cameras, Smart Take AI, and Foldable Software Features

For photography and videography, the iPhone Duo carries a dual rear camera array comprising a 48MP Fusion Main camera with 2x Telephoto capabilities and sensor-shift OIS, alongside a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera.

Front-facing camera feature a Center Stage camera with automatic landscape/portrait orientation adjustment and an under-display FaceTime camera on the inner display.

Foldable camera software features include Smart Take AI for automated shot selection, Duo Preview so subjects can see their framing on the outer display, and tripod-free Time-lapse capture when set on a surface in half-folded mode.

Under the hood, the iPhone Duo is powered by the 2nm Apple A20 Pro system on a chip, featuring a 6-core CPU that delivers up to 20 percent faster processing speeds.

The 7-core GPU offers up to 40 percent faster graphics rendering, while the Dual 16-core Neural Engine provides twice the AI processing capacity for on-device Apple Intelligence models.

Power is distributed across two balanced batteries, delivering up to 31 hours of inner display video playback, 44 hours of outer screen video playback, and 24 hours of mixed daily use.

Wired charging refuels 50 percent capacity in approximately 20 minutes, while wireless MagSafe or Qi2 chargers deliver a 50 percent charge in 30 minutes.

Connectivity is upgraded via the custom Apple N1 wireless networking chip for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, paired with an eSIM-only worldwide architecture and the C2 modem in Canada.

Tailored iOS 27 Experience, Split View Multitasking, and StandBy Smart Hub

Operating on iOS 27.1, the interface has been tailored with a vertical side Dock, side Lock Screen shortcuts, and a circular corner status cluster to maximize vertical viewing space.

For the first time on iPhone, Split View allows users to operate two applications side by side, launch duplicate app windows, and interact with Siri AI on one half of the panel.

When placed on a desk or nightstand, the device enters StandBy mode on either screen even without an attached charging cable, acting as a dynamic smart display.
