JAM Online’s Best phones of 2013

Best smartphone

Ah yes, only a few days are left before we start writing 2014 instead of 2013 on our exam papers. Probably, most of you will be still used to 2013 and not 2014. Anyway, the year is about is to end and again, it has been a great year for smartphones. This year, a lot of interesting features have been introduced to flagship smartphones like the Full HD displays (I bet some of you have smartphones that has a larger resolution than your TVs). Since there are only a few days left before the end of the year, I just want to share with you my best smartphones for 2013

5. Nokia Lumia 1020

Nokia Lumia 1020

This is the first Nokia Windows Phone to pack a 41 Megapixel Pureview camera and probably will be the last. Don’t worry because Microsoft might bring this technology to their future Windows Phone lineup. So why is it on my list? I love the build quality, experience and camera that they’ve used in here, it can beat almost all point-and-shoots out there. The OS? Windows Phone might be behind iOS and Android but Windows Phone growth is definitely big this year. Some of the apps like Instagram and Vine are already available in Windows Phone. Oh, GTA San Andreas would be available on Windows Phones too. But yeah, most apps aren’t available on Windows Phone yet. But yeah, it’s growing.

4. Cherry Mobile Omega HD 2.0

CM Omega HD 2.0

This is not the best offering of Cherry Mobile and this one doesn’t have the specs to compete with the flagship phones of international brands but the Cherry Mobile Omega HD 2.0 is probably one of their most popular local phones of 2013. There’s the 5” HD screen, 1 GB of RAM and a decent quad-core MediaTek processor which can run most of the apps and games that you want. One of the things that I really like in it is the support of its users. Yes, there are a lot of ROMS and mods that are available for this phone.

3. iPhone 5s

iPhone 5s

Look, I’m not really a fan of iPhone but I have to give the 3rd spot to the iPhone 5s. I know, I know, it still has that same 4” display with that slim aluminum body of the iPhone 5 but the iPhone 5s just gave us the glimpse of what’s next for Apple. 64-bit processor,  Fingerprint sensor and Gold color? Yeah, I know, we’ve seen those technologies before but what I love with Apple is that they’re executing these technologies in the right way.

2. LG G2

LG G2

The LG G2 is really amazing. It’s their first phone to pack a rear key. Yep, the power button and the volume buttons are placed at the back. It’s a small feature that can be big change in the mobile industry. Just like the SGS4, the LG G2 packs a plastic body but this one rocks a Snapdragon 800 processor and a heavily modified UI made by LG. yeah yeah yeah, why don’t you check out the LG G2 at some stores and know why this phone got the 2nd spot.

1. Samsung Galaxy Note 3

samsung galaxy note 3

This phone is probably the most powerful device in the market right now. You got a Snapdragon 800 processor and a 3 GB of RAM. This phone is also the first phone of Samsung to pack the faux leather back and it is the first phone to pair with Samsung’s first smartwatch, the Galaxy gear. Okay, so why is it the best phone of 2013? First, it is a very powerful device. Yep, you can even run a PSP emulator in it without lags. This phablet is also perfect for Multi-tasking. IMO, this is the best Android phone in the market right now. Oh wait…the best phone in the market right now.
