Global PC shipments fell by 4.9% year-over-year in the second quarter of 2026, totaling 68.2 million units. According to IDC Worldwide Quarterly PC Tracker.
The decline is largely due to the memory chip shortage and rising component costs, forcing vendors to pull inventory forward. However, while unit shipments fell, manufacturer revenue has continued to climb due to aggressive price increases passed on to consumers.

Apple MacBook Neo Drives Drastic Shipment Growth
Apple emerged as the sole standout performer among the top five global PC vendors. While competitors saw significant double-digit or mid-single-digit declines, Apple achieved a massive 10.1% year-over-year growth in shipments.
This drastic increase was driven by the successful launch of the new MacBook Neo. The entry-level model has successfully attracted budget-conscious buyers, keeping Apple well-positioned despite industry-wide component cost pressures.
